Footplate ride, cab ride on U-Class 31806 on the K&ESR

Kent & East Sussex Railway's 50th Anniversary Gala, 1 and 2 June 2024.
SR U-Class 2-6-0 31806 visited from the Swanage Railway for the 2-day event. It is seen here on the climb to Tenterden Town on the 1-in-50 of Tenterden Bank. Join the driver and fireman on the footplate on Saturday 1st for a cab ride on this very useful engine!
The KESR opened in 1900 and was closed to passengers in 1954 and to all traffic in 1961. After much work and many struggles it was reopened as a heritage line in 1974. The June 2024 gala celebrated the 50th anniversary of reopening.

I did my Driver Experience on that loco in Swanage three years ago. Loved it. Another tick off the Bucket List.
