    There's actually an option on the server where you can also add custom URL, this way you don't have to manually add IP on the client.

      I didn't think about that part mostly this option works well for me and I hope for everyone as well 😁

    Any chance you can do another video step-by-step. Doing it exactly obviously. I have a apple device where you have a window. There is something I am doing wrong. I cannot see the IP address like you put it on there. It is too small and every time I go into Google to search for that. IP address it just takes me to Reddit. am using my IP address, not yours but nevertheless, the last 4 digit that are of Plex that you place at the end, I place it exactly how I think it is with the/web and still nothing happens. It doesn't even look like the page that you open on your side. Minds just show The webpage called Reddit.

    Hey, brother, I tried doing everything. You said there and I could not get it to work. I am so frustrated. I watched this video over and over again to see what I'm doing wrong and it's just not panning out.

      Thanks for watching due to your issue
      First off
      Was you successful in adding the devices to the tailscale (tailnet)
      Was you able to log in locally on the Plex server ?

  • @Meyus_
    @Meyus_ 8 дней назад

    Soo, I am going to use this to play Minecraft with my friend, does my friend need to install tailscale too? Nevermind, I think I figured it out

    • @JeffComputerService
      @JeffComputerService  8 дней назад

      @@Meyus_ your friend needs to connect to the same tailnet (tailscale)account so his Device has access to the same network you both want to play and only you and your friend will have access and anyone else that you add to that account
      Hope this helps 😁

    so its not working when i am connected to Tailscale but want to use the adroid app for plex?

    • @JeffComputerService

      Hi!
      thanks for watching as to your question is the device that you are trying to connect is it already added to the (tailnet) of your tailscale ?
      in the plex app go to Settings> Advanced and in there verify if you have enable (Allow insecure connections change that to (Always)) for your Media Server to appears via Tailscale
      another thing is the app sometimes gives me issues i Prefer to use a Browser to open the Server by just putting the ip provided by tailscale and port number
      Hope this helps resolved your issue :)

      @@JeffComputerService Hi, thx for the answer. The app is working now for me. I had to turn of private dns in android. Seems like a common problem.

    I created the account on tale scale. I added 2 devices which I can see in the machine area. But I cannot get the plex to show up on there.

      @JeffComputerService  Месяц назад

      Did you added the port number of your server to see if you can access it locally?

      I have the same problem. On my phone in the browser i can access Plex over Tailscale ip. When i try it in app with manual ip, i says it can’t find a server

      @JeffComputerService  Месяц назад

      @@bjornj606 HI!
      thanks for watching
      On the app double check to see if you have enabled in the app go to settings> then Advanced make your you have enabled to (Always) on Allow insecure connections
      having this turned on will allow the server to be available on the app using Tailscale
      I hope this helps your issue 😁

    just some feedback here. some people need/want captions, so thanks for providing them. however, some people suffer from absolutely crippling adhd and cant watch a video with words in the same language as the audio(i.e. contextually unnecessary captions). your captions are burned in. i cant turn them off. i cant watch your video.
    you're looking after some people and alienating others. people, just make your captions optional, and not in the middle of the screen(not a problem here, but while im on the soapbox).
    thanks for coming to my ted talk/

    Hey! Great Video! You explain everything really good. I have only a Problem on Minute 5:59. i copy the ip adresse of tailscale, add :32400, but it doesn't connect.

      @JeffComputerService  Месяц назад

      Hi! I would verify first and check to see if both devices are connected to the tailnet (tailscale) if you try to connect a device not in the tailscale network it won't find it
      If anything check the PC or virtual machine you connected in the tailscale and in the (Machine Tab find the Machine then scroll down to the bottom until you find (Service (Alpha)) Tab if the process was successful you should see the IP of (tailscale) with a Port number of the Plex Server in your case
      I hope this information helps 😁

      @@erwinmalimban2197 ok in that case turn off the tailscale and verify the phone is receiving internet with no issues and try again if that didn't work delete the cache of the app and connect again your account to tailscale, you can also verify on the tailscale admin console to see if the current device you connected is online just to be sure
      At one point one of my devices was connected but it appeared on the console offline had to remove it completely and install the tailscale again and connect the account
      I hope this helped 😁
