I've heard Piezo pickups described as "Quacky".... actually... I like that sound... I think it adds something to the genre.... The regular pickps have a more "regular electric guitar" sound.... I think the next one I build will have a switch and both pickups...

I had a piezo and magnetic in my box with a switch, it never worked right, so I eventually just, disconnected the piezo. I didn’t even find it . Gave up und just played through the humbucker, probably a knock off too. Humbucker all the way !,,

hey brother - have you ever heard Dar Stellabotta play? She uses a single piezo, through an "orange" amp, and a fuzz pedal for this total swamp, muddy distortion - and it really growls. I was going to use a piezo in my cigar box guitar, but now I just might use a single coil or a humbucker. Thanks

I hear you loud and clear, dirty even! I prefer magnetic, even a single coil, but humbucking is hard to beat. What is the amp?

A Roland Cube Street...but it sounds KILLER through a Pignose!

      I hear that too!!
My buddies would carry a couple around back in the late 70s.I mainly use an old VoxDA5. I do have a Silvwrtone 1344 tube amp from 1952, great for harp.

I usually buy an aftermarket p-bass pickup and use each part as a separate pickup. Cheap and good, it's like a mini p90.

Are you still playing? You sound great! I'm a finger picker, trying ro learn slide.
3 strings are limiting enough at the moment.

Wow! Me too. Lastly a lot of cbg too. It comes and goes.. I play ukulele blues 💙daily.
I'm on the south edge of Kansas City, I'd love to jam with you! I don't drive, I have bad eyes. I save them for videos and learning I suppose.
Too bad you are not down the street like in the day.

Piezo pickups need an equalizer to reach their full potential. $25 on eBay
