Lovely stitching. The SAL is going to be so much fun to stitch. Don't stress over stitching goals. Stitching is supposed to be fun and a stress relief. Always enjoy watching. 😊
Oh we can be so hard on ourselves! I could totally relate to what you were saying about feeling pressured. And as you said, I rarely find that anyone is upset with me falling short of my own expectations. Stitch happy!
Enjoyed visiting as always. Please don’t beat yourself up about not finishing “Oh Joyous Day.” Stitching is our happy place. No rules. Simply enjoyment ❤
Love the reminder to not attach unnecessary pressure or stress around stitching. I'm doing my first SAL (Deadly Aquarium) and need this reminder, too. Like you, I'm stitching for *pleasure* and don't need the hassle of deadlines or feeling behind. Unrelated, but I LOVE your plans for the baseball piece and look forward to seeing that come together 🤩
No pressure on the stitching! You’re right that our stitching should be fun for us, not stressful. Your You Got This is looking so great! I love his eyes - he has such personality. I’m a bit jealous that Caitlin is so close to you now! She’s awesome. So fun to spend time with you, as always. Happy stitching!
Hey Katie! So good to watch again. Love that you recognized you were beginning to feel stress over the goal for Oh Joyous Day and decided to just back off and enjoy. I am joining the #stitchagardensal with you. I have had the BarbaraAna Designs Garden of Dreams all kitted up for the last couple of months and was really wanting to stitch so the sal is perfect timing! I also wanted to say in January I bought the Atom Heart floss drops and started put all the new DMC's I have bought in the last year onto the floss drop bobbin for all the same reasons you mentioned. I need to wind them up and put them away. They are chunky and I am not thrilled about that when I put them in a floss box but having them on the floss drop whilst working on a project instead of in a not in my bag has been a time saver. I also purchased the number stickers she menntioned and they are AWESOME! I highly recommend them.
Hi Katie Love all of your WIPS - they are just beautiful. I kept my DMC Threads on Plastic Bobbins and I write the number with a Fine Black Sharpie on the smooth side of the Plastic Bobbins. I keep them in a Floss Plastic Storage Box. I have the entire Main Set of DMC Threads in my Craft Room - all in Plastic Floss Storage Boxes on Plastic Bobbins. All I have to do is walk into my Craft Room and get the Bobbin that I need for that Project. Each Project has its own Plastic Floss Storage Compartment Boxes. This way I don’t have to fight the threads being tangled. I can see what I have in my 17 Compartment Plastic Floss Box as a Main Set and for each Project that is in its own Project Bag. Take Care & Happy Stitching ❤️🤗🧵🪡🧵✂️❤️
Great to see your updates! I promise never to come after you for missing a goal you laid out, hahahaha, or else I'd have to do the same with me! The beauty of flosstube is the fluidity of our goals. :) Happy stitching!
Enjoyed your video as always. It’s ok not to meet your goals, at least you tried. I very seldom meet mine and that’s ok. My stitching is my stress relief. Loved when you were showing owl design. Holding it up and smiling. You have such a beautiful smile. Your Oh Joyous Day is getting there, you will have it done soon. I am loving the book that we are reading. I read more than 80 pages the first day I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down. I need to try and post a picture of my stitch that I am doing with the book when we get back home. We are in North Carolina right now visiting our 2 sons that live here. Looking forward to your next FlossTube ❤
Hi Katie, thank you so much for your sweet shout out! I loved seeing all of your progress, especially the MFE start - that red is perfect on the natural linen 😍 I'm looking forward to the next book club meeting; I just started the book last night and am really enjoying it. I hope you're well and staying cool 💜
Because I have over 100 WIPs, I only keep one or two lengths of each color floss, on drops or a floss organizer, with each project. I rarely stitch more than one length of any color in one sitting so this works for me. My DMC stash is on bobbins and stored numerically in bobbin boxes. My fancy floss stash is stored in FlossAway bags, by color name and grouped by designer. They are grouped on rings that I hang off my IKEA RASKOG cart for easy access. This system helps me save money by not buying, and storing, multiple skeins of the same floss. I am constantly “reloading” my WIPs so I know if I am getting low on a color. I don’t worry about dye lots because I am stitching mostly small/medium size projects and would rarely need more than a skein. On projects where is know more than one skein is needed, I will make sure I have the recommended amount.
Wonderful video, Katie. Oona is looking fabulous as is Oh Joyous Day. I understand that we put pressure on ourselves to carry out the goals we discuss on our videos. However, you must find a balance between “having to finish’ and “wanting to finish and share with your viewers. They will be there for you regardless. My daughter is reading Funny Story and she read some aloud to me when I visited at the first of the week. Haven’t made a firm decision if I will join this round, but most likely will. I worked on Christmas Delivery for my Christmas in July stitching.
Thanks, Sarah! There’s definitely a balance involved in stitching and finishing and sharing. Hope you have a chance to read Funny Story! And I need to pull Christmas Delivery out again soon, it’s been too long since I worked on mine.
Another really wonderful episode, your projects are lovely and I think I might join my first-ever SAL!!! I will see what I have in my stash that is garden-related... 😄
Hi Katie! Nice flosstube. I just finished A Single Thread, and really enjoyed it, especially the end. Im looking forward to Funny Story. My local libraries are out, tho they will email me when its back in. A single thread took me just took me four sessions of sitting and reading to finish, so I'm sure I can keep up with Funny Story. Thanks for your time!!😊
Was so happy to see your flosstube pop up in my feed. Only now have everything to start the garden sal. Going to do Bee Garden by Theresa Kogut, just liove that little kitty in her pocket. Haven’t started to read yet, just did some cute little americana smalls by Little house needleworks they are only 39x39. Just want to start so many things lol, may have to change my stitch for the book so not have the threads and would need to spend alot of time on the conversion so will look for another love theme stitch. Happy Stitching all, having to stay in from the heat and not so much, so that means sitting and stitching here!
Love that choice for the SAL! Always fun to do some smaller pieces, and I’m in the mood to start all the things too. Hope you find something great to stitch for the next book!
Another great video! As usual, I very much admire your stitching on Oh Joyous Day. Definitely do not worry about not getting it finished. Our hobby should be fun, not stressful. I’m going to start Oh Joyous Day for stitches & pages book club. I just got it kitted up & ready to start. My 30th anniversary is in September 2025, so I have a goal to finish it by then. I thought it would be a good start to fit the romance theme
I wouldn't worry about not finishing Oh Joyous Day on your initial goal date. That was a goal, something for which to strive, but also something that can be adjusted. I have never to been to Ye Olde Stitchery. I had found a pattern there (on line) so I knew the store existed. Sounds like a fun excursion, especially since you have the funds to shop a little. I need to pick up a copy of Funny Story from the library so I can get started reading. I am trying to get an ebook version as it appears that this book is checked our/reserved by many people already.
@@katiethenovelstitcher So far I haven't managed to get a copy. There are 40 people ahead of me on the wait list from the county library system. I may just order it from Amazon. I really may need to read past my bedtime to get it finished on time. 😆
I’ve been enjoying stitching Fairy Garden this summer, too. ☺️ I’m doing mine in the DMC conversion. For Stitches and Pages I’m going to stitch you + me from Heart in Hand, but I think I’ll be changing the colors to match the cover.
Hey Katie! Great video, I always enjoy the variety. I’m nearing completion on Away We Ride, restarted April of this year. It’s supposed to be over 100 here in Nebraska tomorrow. Reading Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga. Stay cool! 🪡🧵☮️🌻
Don’t feel bad about not meeting your goal for Oh Joyous Day. Many of us miss meeting our goals, but get more done because we were striving for the goals.
I just bought the book this weekend because the library had so many holds (534 holds on 17 copies!). Looking forward to reading it. I am going to stitch something "funny" to go with this book... not sure what yet. I'm not a romance kind of person, but I do love comedy. I have a book called "Really Cross Stitch" and I think I'll pick one of those fun designs! Happy Stitching!
Glad you got a copy, I didn’t even consider how popular it is and that it would be hard to get from the library. Can’t wait to hear what funny pattern you choose!
Hi Katie! I'm looking forward to reading 'Funny Story' I'm not sure I want a new start at the moment... but thinking about Stitchrovia's 'When Life give you Lemons make Lemonade'
I love your stitching. I'm thinking about starting the owl from Artsy Housewife. He's so cute! I'm currently working on Patriotic Quaker by Primrose Cottage. My stitching for book club will be We Met On The Internet by Dirty Annie. ❤
As always, lovely FlossTube and I enjoyed your stitches and sidebars. So nice you have met some stitchy friends! I am 3/4 through Funny Story and not really enjoying it but that’s not surprising as I am not much for romance stories. It is good writing and nice character development, especially the emotional selves. I haven’t found anything in my stash to stitch that fits the read.
Hi Katie! Would love to join the garden sal! I came up with 6 wips that would fit the bill..lol..You nailed it with commenting that stitching is to relieve stress! No stress with deadlines and schedules! This is our happy place! Go to the projects that speak to you! I like some challenges that help me with finishes but for the most part I flit around…just like my stitching on any given piece, like you I also jump around! lol…Our summer heat has just started here in So. Cal. which is a treat because usually by now we have had lots of heat. It hit 103 over the weekend in my city of Santa Clarita. I am currently working on my old wip Lizzie Kate Halloween Rules, Shores of Hawkrun Hallow on the weekends, gh1857 sal and Basketful of summer by Brenda Gervais for the hollissummerholidaysal. Hoping for some finishes one of these days but enjoying the stitching on everything. Have a fun summer!
Just wondering if your floss bobbins need to be peeled on one or both sides. The ones I got had to be peeled, then the stickers really attached to the bobbin.
I checked and they don’t need to be peeled, but good thinking! The stickers may not stay because I’m folding them over the top of the bobbin, instead of pressing them flat.
Lovely stitching. The SAL is going to be so much fun to stitch. Don't stress over stitching goals. Stitching is supposed to be fun and a stress relief. Always enjoy watching. 😊
So glad you’re joining the SAL!
