    Excellent video. I just purchased a new bx1880. Should be getting delivered next week. I recently built a new log home and we have about 1.5 to 2 acres that we need to do landscaping etc. The local landscaping companies were quoting $14-16k to get our property landscaped and it just makes more sense to buy a tractor and tackle it ourselves.

      @@StellsBellz I do not have any videos about blade or mower deck removal. I should do one. The blade assembly on the new 80 series BX is mounted a little different. The tractor in the video is the BX 1870-1. These machines are diesel. They are like tanks...nearly indestructible, but at the same time they are very fuel efficient. The low end torque is amazing.

    Use your float on your back drag .

  • @DelawareDevil
    @DelawareDevil 2 года назад

    Run in 2 wheel drive till your wheels start spinning, then use the differential lock before the 4 wheel drive. Trucks don't have down pressure and you should plow snow in the float position that way the plow follows the contour of the driveway. I use a BX 2360 (2010) and have never gotten it stuck. Usually I use a front blower and back blade, but do have a blade (bx 2763) that gets occasional use. Angle front blade one way, back blade the opposite and go to town.

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  3 года назад

      Unfortunately, you can’t put this blade on the rear. It is specifically designed for the male quick hitch adapter which mounts only on the front of the tractor. You would need to look for a three point hitch style blade. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe!

    You made a great video! But I am reluctant to subscribe because you didn't answer THE key technical question several folks asked below. Were you in float!? You imply you were because your drive has heaves. But went over the possible float setting really fast. I am going to go back and watch.
    Float is not only the key technical question, it seems to be an emotional one. Your clarity on that and especially your answers can really help some of us! I have a new B2601 and a blade like yours. I have asphalt AND gravel. Never used a front blade. Am pretty stressed. Then I see how beautifully you cleared snow on your concrete. WERE you in float!?

    • @RichardGilbert2727

      Oh, and my asphalt is heaved in spots by roots.

    • @RichardGilbert2727
      @RichardGilbert2727 3 года назад

      Okay, I watched it again. It's still not clear if you used float. I assume your tractor has that-when you push the joy stick forward past the lifting point and it pops into float. But it appears from your commentary at the back dragging part that you are just backing off on the down pressure? Not putting the blade forward till it goes into float mode?

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  3 года назад +1

      I apologize for the delay in responding. I was in the float position except for the back dragging portion. If you back drag in float, often times the blade will rise as the snow builds up behind it. You need the down pressure to not leave any snow behind.

    Hi, I’m wondering if you would know if they have a slightly narrower blade width available? I have a 2350 but would like to keep the blade roughly the width of the unit please let me know if you have any advice or ideas

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  Год назад

      You probably will not find a blade that is the width of the unit. The idea is if you angle the blade, it still needs to cover the width of your front wheels.

      @@averagejoevideo9556 How thick of steel is the blade constructed of excluding the cutting edge? I’m needing to push harder/heavy material so I’m concerned that angling the blade could cause damage to the linkages for the tilt, perhaps 60” won’t be as much of an issue for the unit to push as I imagine but I’m expecting traction issues.

  • @gus473
    @gus473 4 года назад

    Do you have fluid in your rear tires, for additional traction with turf tires? Kubota's weight box is a nice option, which you can fill with sandbags for winter and use it as a carryall in other seasons! Or easily remove it! 😎👍

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  4 года назад

      Mike Gustafson no I don’t have fluid in the rear tires. But, yes the weight box seems like a great option. Ironically, we haven’t had any snow this year worth filming, so my channel has been a bit quiet. Be sure to subscribe as I will be bringing more content shortly.

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  4 года назад

      Alex Minnich ironically, I traded this tractor and bought a BX23S. I haven’t posted any videos because we haven’t had any snow worth filming. I plan to do an update on my channel regarding the 23S. To answer your question, technically the setup from my old BX would still fit my new 23S. However, the issue is with the hydraulics. The BX23S has flat face couplers instead of pioneer couplers. Obviously, I would need to change the couplers on the plow and quick hitch side because I can’t change them on the tractor side or else the loader won’t connect. I did purchase a new plow setup for the 23S, so essentially I now have then newer version. Be sure to subscribe and stay tuned as I will film the setup just to show everyone what it looks like.

    • @jj1479

      Yes it will. I have that plow setup on my Bx23s an I got the flat faced hydraulic fittings off of Amazon for $19 each. Dealer wanted $53.

    You gotta do something with the rats nest of hydraulic hoses. LOL

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  2 года назад

      I now have a Kubota BX23S with a plow. Kubota did a much better job with hose management on the new 80 series tractors. I agree that the hoses were a rat’s nest. Ironically, I knew two different people with this particular series and their hoses were a mess as well. The one guy had a snowblower and I would estimate that his hydraulic lines were easily 5 feet long.

  • @bowhunter182
    @bowhunter182 2 года назад

    What is th÷ total cost of plow and hydraulics?

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  2 года назад

      Keep in mind that when you purchase a Kubota tractor you have the option of the “loader valve” from the factory. Obviously, a tractor preconfigured with the loader valve costs more than one without. However, it is much cheaper to buy a Kubota with the loader valve from the factory than to add one later. With that being said, I believe the cost of the plow itself (which included the left and right angle hydraulic cylinder) was around $900. The cost for the male quick hitch (provides hookup for plow as well as up and down hydraulics), was around $800. The male quick hitch can be used with other attachments. Theoretically, you do not need to pay for the hydraulic angle option which would reduce the cost by about $250.

    How do you adjust the skid shoes?

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  3 года назад

      There are concave washers included. You can arrange them above or below the mounting point to achieve the proper height. You can also flip them in different directions to create more or less space since they are concave.

    • @mudderD
      @mudderD 3 года назад

      Thank you for getting back to me. My plow came with the skid shoes on. However my dealer did not included washers. Used for the first time yesterday on my 500’ gravel driveway. Did pretty well, however getting that edge at the perfect height was a challenge. I think getting some washers will help immensely.

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  3 года назад

      @@mudderD no problem! If you haven’t already, please subscribe to my channel. The skid shoe kit is expensive enough that it should come with the washers. With that being said I bet they are in a bag somewhere at the dealership. The other nice thing about the way they install with the washers is that they are always free floating in the holes. I never once had an issues with them freezing up.

    That's a handy little rig, but I can't imagine what it cost?! For what you have invested in that, I have about the same amount in a used 4 wheel drive pickup with a home built plow on it. I like the fact that I'm sitting in a heated cab and get the same job done faster with a wider blade. Oh ya, I can't mow my lawn with my truck however.

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  5 лет назад

      Painter D thank you...it is very handy! A heated cab would be nice and there are disadvantages and advantages to each. Obviously, my tractor is used for mowing as well so you aren’t going to to that with a truck. But, I see your point!

    • @spanky522
      @spanky522 5 лет назад

      Ya I mean if you already have a tractor then of course I'd throw some type of plow on it. That's a slick rig and it looks like it does the job pretty well. I guess you just learn to use what you have and being I already had the old truck for my work vehicle, I may as well put it to work with a plow.
