I have a BMW 328i 2008 Automatic and I just paid a muffler shop $70 bucks to plasma cut my muffler pipe and TIG weld the exact same cutout in this video on. What they did was modify the pipe so that the cutout outlet has more ground clearance and faces away from any plastic lining on the bottom of the car. My car now feels like the sports car that it is. This is an awesome mod, so thank you so much for showing me how to do this. I spent $140 bucks and my car sounds so fucking amazing. Also the shop that I took it to said I would pass a smog test no problem. That's in California though, so i'm not sure about all other places. Some things I did differently: - cut the cutout pipe shorter so the flange just sticks off the side of the muffler pipe, this creates more ground clearance and angles the cutout exhaust away from any plastic that can melt - use epoxy and contact cement to seal the hole where the wire comes in to power the little 12v DC motor - glue the control box down to the plastic so that it doesn't shake around - wire a 12v fuse on the positive lead of the motor for short circuit and over-voltage protection. - further waterproofed the cutout motor by using left over oil o-rings, contact cement and super glue (i put one ring around the end of the motor seal and used contact cement/epoxy for a water-tight seal - and I put another larger ring on the base of the motor and super glued it into place)
Hope it helps anybody wishing to do this to their car and I hope mine lasts :). Thanks again for making awesome content, my car wouldn't be as nice as it was if it weren't for your channel.
Did you also drill through the rear spare trunk area to run the wire to the battery terminal? Also, does a 12v fuse look like one of the glass ones or the 2 pronged style? Thanks in advance!
Yes, I drilled through the plastic in the rear trunk area and filled the hole with epoxy and contact cement. The fuse I used on the positive terminal to the cutoff motor was www.amazon.com/DIGITEN-5x20mm-Holder-Fast-blow-Assorted/dp/B01I2MNRWK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1521072122&sr=8-3&keywords=1+amp+car+fuse&dpID=512pYfR-kIL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch the 1 amp fuse from this kit. Preferably, you would like a 12v 1 amp fuse, one that would blow at anything over 1 amp which would probably fry the cutout motor. (This is assuming that the cutout motor drawls approx. .8 - .9 amps) Hope this helps and no problem :)
2 things: firstly put some rubber surrounding in plastic where you put the wire (or glue it) or you will get moisture in your car. secondly you shouldn't put it to battery directly - use fuse for it.
No it's fine. The receiver circuit board drawls a minimal amount of current when the button on the remote is not being pushed. Something like the same amount of current that the LED to show you're in park that stays on when the car is off. So if you left your car for lets say weeks it would be a problem, but if you start it every couple days there will be absolutely no problem.
Im gonna weld on one of these right after the manifold. Have a second 3 inch pipe running along the whole original exhaaust and then connect it right before the exit. So I can choose between 3 inch straight and no sound.
This tutorial was helpful, but if you have an e46 325, the exhaust is dual all the way to the rear muffler. I installed a dual cutout before the second resonator if I remember correctly. Ground clearance wasnt an issue. Sounds pretty good too, I wish mine was a simple as this. I had to weld the cut out while the exhaust was on the car. pain in the ass, but doable. If anyones got any questions abiut lmk. And great job on the install, very well put. I stole your idea of drilling through the spare tire area. Wasnt comfortable running the little control brick off the battery as its a DC. Ive ran other little boxes like that with a DC and that would always crap out. so for now im sticking with the the cigerette lighter plugin. Ran the switch in the car, all wiring underthe carpet and under the rear seat. Wanted it to look at neat as possible. just like your install.
I have this on my car. Love it. Loud when I want it, "whisper mode" when I want quiet. I was surprised yours wasn't louder when the cutout is open, though. Nice work, though.
Wow, this is insane ! Doesn't it hang to low and scrape? I'd be concerned about that. I just sold my BMW Performance exhaust and did a muffler delete w/ burnt tips a few days back 👌
ESG I was concerned about that...however it is pretty much inline with the rear wheels, therefor it moves up with the wheels whenever going over a speed bump or whatever. It's actually only 1/2" lower than the lowest point on the car...so it's not a huge concern. I love the sound of the muffler delete though!
After you cut the cigarette lighter plug off, and put the eyelets on the ends of the cable, did you add an inline fuse similar to the one inside the cigarette plug? If that motor shorts it’s going to melt those cables right to your battery.
I like all of your videos dude keep them up. I just wanted to ask. Since you have most of the tools you like the welder. Would I have to have one to weld the cut out to the muffler?
An interesting approach and twist on the old exhaust "dumps". It appears that you're still getting SOME of the exhaust to run through the stock exhaust {which I like), is that true? (as 100% exit out the cutout would be too much for my bmw), Great vid by the way!
@JDCars on your F30 Me conversion you know you can wrap your PDC on the front and rear bumper same color as your car to get rid of the black holes. It will look so clean. Vinyl wrap will not mess up your PDC! Love your build it's my dream build 🔥
i have a question about these and i would appreciate an answer:) so since the cutouts have 2 pipes one that leads to the muffler and one that leads to the valves, wouldn’t the car still be a little quiet with the valves open since air is still passing thought both pipes? thanks
Hei man great video, but can you make a video on what welding machine you used and how to used it, as i wanna do this aswell and i have no clue on what welding machine to purchase. Thanks in advance...
Hey great video but when you installed it did your check engine light cut on or at any point does your check engine light come on with that being on your exhaust?
@@JDCarsChannel good to hear, sometimes people will install a heat shield a when outlet beneath the vehicle. Sometimes wires, etc are hidden under carpet and plastic.
JD Cars, Aah OK I've heard that some electric exhaust cutouts can leak resulting in a hub dub sound when accelerating. What is your take on this? And also would you say this exhaust cutout is good quality?
Ibby 12 I checked for leaks afterwards and it does not leak, nor do I experience a hub dub sound. I would definitely say this is good quality so far, it even made it through the snow without burning out.
great. if i had to do it i would probably place it right after the primary cat for better sound because thats the point anyway lol. i ve seen some of the cars, mercedes benz in general doesnt have much space to fit hence taking up some ground clearance. in my case i am too low that i cant even put a CF lip cuz i will scrape on speed bumps (which are very common here in dubai, UAE) xD

2 good tips
Shouldn't this be wired to 12v switched source instead of battery ?

What do you mean by “use a fuse for it” ??
a fuse makes sure you dont burn down your car, if something fails. Google "fuse".
To get maximum loudness, place before resonator

That is a fact. You might just have to reset your check engine light every once in a while.
NCBandit or you just get your car tuned, adds like 50hp and you won’t get any codes ever!
Edit: when I say get you car tuned. I mean the ECU
Drill holes in bonnet and straight pipe it right up

Amazing cool exaust sound. . Gileeee.
How long till u rip it off on a speed bump

Quick question, since you wired it directly to the battery, isn't the switch always on? Won't it drain your battery?
that was brilliant thanks so much! i have mine on its way and i have subscribed to your chanel. great video

Thank you! Can I just cut a hole in it without attaching an electric valve?
Rear cat and muffler delete gave me a nice deep tone
I may delete the cats I'm not sure.
JD Cars just do the rear cat
Thank you for sharing your experience ,I bought bwm e 90 last week,

Its better man, 10/10 cool mod
Thanks bro!
Nice work man
Thanks bro
Mufom do siebie kurła!
great job, i will install it on my 370z
PRETTY GOOD JOB!
Cool !!!👍👍
good job
Thanks man!
Great video thanks man. I’m thinking of sticking velcro on the back of the module so it’ll stick on the carpet 👍
Much appreciated! And good idea!!
U are a legend
Thanks bro!
Wow awesome video man thanks
It's cheaper than buying new straight pipe🙃
Murat Solakoglu That's for sure!
Good job well done !!!
Thanks!
sick nice vid man

It makes the noise anyway, the engine is 4 cylinder.?
yo its really cool that you know how to do all this shit by yourself

Use Velcro to hold the module in place
i like it, i have an e90 as well i want to do this but i dont have the means. did you leave the cats intact??

Love the channel, great content!!! I have black e90 that I wanna mod like you did
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Good job 👍🏻 also does it still work and does it leak at all or no? Thanks
Mine does not leak at all!
You know where pass the wire to get to the cabin? Thanks keep it up!
I'm not sure to be honest. Thank you!
use a double adhesive by 3M to that CONTROL BOX.
great job kiddo
Vasiu Cristian thanks man!

What did you hook the negative up to? And did you use a fuse?
Nice! But next time paint the muffler too.

Hey man .. Keep doing a great work.. I sub ur channel ☝
Thanks bro!
i have a question about these and i would appreciate an answer:) so since the cutouts have 2 pipes one that leads to the muffler and one that leads to the valves, wouldn’t the car still be a little quiet with the valves open since air is still passing thought both pipes? thanks
The exhaust will take the path of least resistance - this is out of the cutout. Only a small amount of air continues and passes through the muffler.
@@JDCarsChannel I saw smoke come out of the stock exhaust but not from the cutout
Hei man great video, but can you make a video on what welding machine you used and how to used it, as i wanna do this aswell and i have no clue on what welding machine to purchase. Thanks in advance...
The welder linked in the description is excellent! I would highly recommend it. Very easy to use and very versatile.
JD cars what type of batteri is it for the remote? I have the same kind of cutout system but cant finde a battery for it. Love the vid!
I'm not sure... bring it to the hardware store and they'll have one
We're the Manufacture of the exhaust cutout .The batteries' type is CR2016 ,2pcs .And the remote control supplied separately in our store .
Okay thanks I'll give a go and give you a feed back.
Sweet!
Hey great video but when you installed it did your check engine light cut on or at any point does your check engine light come on with that being on your exhaust?
Nope, no codes!
Did the exhaust leak (cut out) melt your plastic trunk yet? Seeing the way it was installed.
I had to replace the valve once. It did not cause any damage to the car.
@@JDCarsChannel good to hear, sometimes people will install a heat shield a when outlet beneath the vehicle. Sometimes wires, etc are hidden under carpet and plastic.
None of the links you provided are a weld in option where do I find the the exact one you put in ?
Amazon-- this exact one has been discontinued but others are available
Could you put this before the cats ?
Yes. You can put this anywhere you want as long as it fits
does opening both pipes reduce speed or anything? Just asking i would like to try this.Good work
I never tested it, but it did not feel like speed was reduced. It felt faster in the top end.
Link to the flange you bought?
Amazing video, just wished you showed us how to install the y-splitter
It's essentially the same process except using exhaust clamps instead of welding.

how do you like your cutout s so far, they are a good idea for a BMW 4 Cylinder? thanks!
I love it! Not sure how it would sound on a 4 cylinder, but it's worth a shot.
Is it still holding?
Does this add any HP or just for sound,
If this were a turbo car it would add HP, but this is just for sound.
you had me at deep throatty
lol

So is it louder after you installed the valve and it is closed? So is your car louder with the valve closed vs stock?
No not really
did you get an engine light when the cutout is open?
Nope
salem_alasfar And it's not going to happen because it's after the cat
what is the size of your factory exhaust pipe and size of cut out pipe and electric valve?
Will this trigger a check engine light because of the difference in back pressure?
Nope... no issues!
So this theoretically should work on any BMW right? Thinking about trying it on my F02
Correct
that must sure take some ground clearance off right? and also people can see
E55 BæMG It's actually the same height as the lowest point on the car so not really...and it's hardly visible unless you're low down
great. if i had to do it i would probably place it right after the primary cat for better sound because thats the point anyway lol. i ve seen some of the cars, mercedes benz in general doesnt have much space to fit hence taking up some ground clearance. in my case i am too low that i cant even put a CF lip cuz i will scrape on speed bumps (which are very common here in dubai, UAE) xD

No

hey mate, what were those ring terminals you used? what size were they?
Is it definitely safe to hook the cutouts directly to the battery?
I do not know the size of the ring terminals...maybe 1/4"? It should be completely safe to hook it up directly to the battery.
