Top 10 Greatest 3-Point Shooters in NBA History
A few months ago, we posted a video ranking the top 10 3-point shooters based on their shooting percentage. This time, we let our viewers vote on who THEY think are the greatest 3-point shooters of all time. The votes are in and here are the results.
We can't say that we completely agree with the rankings, although there were some deserving guys on here like Ray Allen, Larry Bird, and Peja Stojakovic, but for guys like Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry - it seems like it's too early in their career to list them as the greatest at anything. However, the viewers got the vote so that's all that matters.

Steph Curry is easily the greatest 3-pt. shooter of all time. It's simply because he hits threes off the dribble and still makes so many.
If his health holds up, he may amass a 3pt career total, by the time that he retires, that no one will ever touch. EVER.
In terms of pure shooting maybe Steph but he has a hard time getting his shot off at 6'3 and Reggie never had that problem at 6'7. If Reggie was on the Warriors with free range to shoot as many 3 pointers as he wants with no hand checking he would have doubled his production.

@@500erider I can understand people thinking Curry is a better shooter than Reggie and his numbers will be much higher at the end of his career. However I want you to remember what I said when James Harden passes Reggie. There is no way James Harden is as good of a 3 point shooter as Reggie. However, with coaches letting the players jack up more 3 pointers than early 2000's Duke and the no hand checking rules will allow mediocre players to pass Reggie.
@@500erider People forget jacking up more 3's than 2's to sort of play a math game wasn't started by the Houston Rockets or any of the teams today. That started with Duke because the college 3 point line was much shorter so Duke would just jack up 3's for the entire game. It's just with the NBA 3 point line coaches didn't think that strategy would work. It works with Golden State because Steph and Klay are all time great shooters but it didn't work with the Rockets. I would also say the early 2000 Bucks were one of the greatest shooting teams of all time but Glen Robinson and Sam Cassell were more midrange players than 3 point shooters but they did have Ray Allen who wasn't shy about jacking up 3 pointers. Even Ray Allen has way more attempts than Reggie.

He missed quite a few from first 2 racks, then hit ever single one after to win it. It's one of the greatest 3-point moments so maybe that's why they had it in video but why they showed first part instead of last doesn't make sense lol
Maybe the person making the video was a closet Lakers fan. Bird won the 3 point shooting contest 3 years in a row. They could have easily used a clip of him putting up a whole rack of swishes rather than a bunch of misses.

I watched Steph curry play in college, true enough he was good in college but I think he's gotten better since he got drafted. It wasn't until he got his first championship that I found out that Dell Curry was his father. Steph curry is hitting his 3pt shots from where the 3pt line used to be. ❤
Ooh. I4got about the 3pt shoot out Larry Bird was in where he didn't even take off his warm up jacket. That's the first time I saw a player compete in a 3pt shoot out contest while still wearing their warm up jacket.

Even if I grow up loving 3pt shooting, especially thanks to people like Peja Stojakovic, Reggie Miller, Ray Allen and so on (Kerr, Kukoc, STOCKTON ecc.) I admit Steph Curry totally looks like an alien. I've never seen someone who seems to shoot so easily from miles away like him. He's like a mortar. Why the hate?

Yeah, some people/groups don't get the concept of how to handle ties in a numbered list. In this case, it should be 1, 2, 3, 4, T-5, 7, 8, 9, 10. People need to watch golf. If two people tie for second place they split the second and third place money, and the next person gets fourth place money, not third.

Keep doing the Viewer Votes. Although their lists do get crazy it's still a very good way to interact with your fans and hear their opinions.

@@thedude9930 People don't talk about Sam Cassell enough because I truly believe he was the original Steph Curry. I think Steph is too short to be compared to Reggie or Ray Allen so they are completely different players. Curry does a lot of what Sam Cassell used to do but just with longer range. Although, Steph is an underrated mid range shooter. It's not like he just jacks up long 3s but that is what makes the highlights.

I have played basketball for many years, and I have never seen anyone shoot the ball as good as Curry...an absolute nightmare against any team.
For me Klay is too low since he leads many of the record. he had made the most 3s in a game(14), Curry is 13, least minutes for 60 points(29), etc.

Would’ve liked to see Craig Hodges on that list at 40% career and 3-time shootout champion with multiple records in it (‘90, ‘91, ‘92). He didn’t get much time on the court because of the depth of the Chicago Bulls back then, but he literally made a living off 3 pointers!

All three of these guys shot Career 3 point percentage in 400s.
They were deadly.
Glen Rice was hitting .470 one year but his long career brought his percentage to an even .400
The game has become a shooters game with the Patrick Ewing 10-12’ money ball barely used at all. I am not saying these guys of today’s game are not anything but amazing. But you simply can not compare the two side by side.

First of all why the fuck are steve nash and steve kerr tied. Secondly Larry Bird should not even be on this list in my opinion, he wasnt that great of a long range shooter compared to other guys. Harden better shooter than Pedja Stojakovic? 3pt shooter?? Harden shoots 36% on 7.5 3PTA, Stojakovic shot 40% on 5.5 3PTA, Harden is a better scorer yes, but 3 pt shooter? Hell no. Pedja also had 2 seasons only averaging below 40%, Harden never shot 40% from 3 in a season.

I don't think it's even close for nr 1. People love living in the past.. Steph makes much tougher shots at a higher percentage than the only 2 players that rival him - Reggie and Allen. Allen was my favorite player growing up, but there is no question Steph is the greatest shooter we've seen.

Steph Curry has had four top-ten seasons with career highs of 286 and 272. He is on track to set another record in 2016, already making 245 3s with 30 games to go. At that pace, he would hit 386 this season.
It is unlikely Curry will finish his career with fewer NBA championships than Allen, as the Golden State warriors are looking to repeat last year's finals victory. Curry would tie Allen with 2 rings and around ten years of his career to play.
Even if Steph Curry had only a few more years left to play, he would already be the greatest 3 point shooter of all time (assuming that just how many years you've spent in the league shouldn't be a factor).

Insignificantly small point in a well constructed argument considering that an all money ball rack contributes FIVE points to overall score, and FOUR within the context of this argument because Curry only made four of those. Either way, it is still a better score with a more impressive streak.

Steph Curry attempts more than twice as many 3s than Reddick and more than three times as many as Kawhi. This undoubtedly means he takes way more pot shots and shit shots that nobody has business attempting. His accuracy from half court and the edge of the logo is almost as good as his mean 3pt%. And at this point in the season, no team leaves him an open three in any circumstance. Andrew Bogut is shooting 100% from deep this season: does that mean he's the best? We're talking best 3-point shooter in history, not "best 3pt percentage for player over 50 games."
Oh, and by the way, he's an insane finger-roll shooter, 3rd in steals, regularly assists from behind the back, has the best pace, PER, VA, EWA, yadda, yadda, yadda, in the NBA. But that can't and should not be part of my argument. Just fun to say! :)

Shooting in your defenders face isn't as impressive as creating high percentage shots. 90% of curry shot are in stupid shots in his defenders face. currys fast form is the only thing keeping him from getting blocked. Put a good defender with fast reflexes like deandre Jordan in his face and he with get stuffed over and over again

After having watched basketball since the 70's, to me Glen Rice was the best pure shooter I have ever seen, 3 or 2 pointers. Evidently the voters haven't watched much basketball.
