  • 1 Corinthians 15 warns that “Bad company ruins good morals.” Dr. Tim Clinton sits down with author and pastor, Gary Thomas, to discuss his new book, When to Walk Away. Together, they identify common characteristics of toxic relationships, the motivations of people who choose to remain in them, and what can be done if you find yourself stuck in a harmful friendship.

Me too sir. It's with my father. The hardest thing to walk away from. I cry tears because I don't know if he will answer the calling alone. I feel I am surrounded by the forces of chaos and searching for the same purpose. Just know we are not alone. I love you with all my heart and hope you can find the strength to serve a good purpose and help to change the world today. God knows we need to work together. Blessings. Please forgive me for my transgressions and passive failure.

@@brendanwood1540 Brendan, I know what you are going through. Even tho you cannot be near a person, you can pray everyday that God opens their Eyes and change their heart. Even if the person isnt religious or spiritual, when we pray for someone or anybody, it opens the door for God to work in their life. It may not happen overnight but don't get discouraged if changes dont take effects right away. Keep praying for them and keep asking God to bless them with wisdom and healing. Only God can change a heart and so I turn to God when a heart needs to be changed, be it my own heart or someone else's. And it never fails to work. Be patient however. It could take years for them to turn around. Also, dont never tell them you're praying for them. It's between you and God. And one day, little by little, they will start changing. Keep up the Faith and trust God.

@@MarieEvaVolmar Thank you. I try to pray for everyone each day. At least to the extent that I can comprehend them. To be loved is to be in the fold the way I see it. Being powerful means fear of being powerless. Being powerless means fear of the powerful. Love is the way to gain trust and heal what we fear. This is the way to nurture the spirit.
I suppose in simple ways we are all dealing with this duality of mind, body, and spirit; everything balances out positive and negative. It does help to exercise and make healthy meals each day. I appreciate your support, and wish you all the best with blessings from god.

Now I need a book on how to forgive my past! I allowed people to manipulate me all of my life, beginning with my mother. That turned into failed marriages and no self worth. I was a walking doormat and in many ways, I still am. I honestly have forgiven my mother, but not myself. I know that is saying that Jesus died for me in vain. He has been working on my heart so that I can finally allow myself to be healed. This interview "told me" to focus on the Gospels and on not only Jesus but the disciples too. I need to read them again with a particular focus. Thank you for posting this video. I believe it's going to be more helpful to me than so many others I have heard. God bless you all.

I finally learned in my 60's that it is ok if certain people don't like me! I was brought up in an atmosphere that made me feel like I could 'save' people if I was nice. The first thing I needed to learn was 'true humility' and recognize that my attitude was hidden pride. SomI repented, I built healthy boundaries and now, I know what I need to do when toxic people try to come into my life. I repeat what John the Baptist use to say with those who gave him a hard time, "look at Him,...."behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Then I just walk away.

The best advice I ever heard about looking in the mirror was in a college course on Stress Management. This what the teacher said, "There are only two kinds of people in the world, those who cause stress and those who releive stress."

Thank you for sharing! I've been thinking about the 7000 years lately too. Jesus died in approximately 30 AD. Hosea 6:2 talks about God redeeming His people after two days, raising them up on the third day. I recently connected that to how it's been nearly 2000 years since Jesus ascended. He's coming soon to save His people from the judgment to come. Praise God!

Thank you so much for this video. I have struggled so much in this area. I was in a 20 year abusive relationship and left about 7 months ago. He is now very sick and I questioned myself about going back. I realize that I need to let go and let God deal with him.

I've ref certain people as " toxic". It's not that they are toxic they are just people who are very wounded from childhood traumas or other traumas conditioning from family structures. That weren't not healed. I have ha family, friends like this the way I've handled it was ref them to support groups, prayer #, to self help books to help them understand their behaviors. Ultimately I've had to separate myself from them, pray for them. They can choose to behave negatively and destructive however I don't have to endure their abuse. Each has choice God wants what's best for each of us.

I'd say to be around trustworthy people is very important!
I've never been a "yes man". I've been on church bds and leadership teams.
But to be a get along, 2 faced individual when favoring, enabling brown nosers is to be a neutered man... a wimp.
It's not being obstinate but right is right! Christ, Nathan, Paul, John the Baptist were not "respecters of people". Yes, there is a place to "bend", to be a "team player" but there is also a place to call out and stand up to especially blatant sin! Sometimes the "nice" two faced person is not the one I'd want in my foxhole in a shooting war! I thing "45" learned this the hard way. 🤔😐

All the people who have voted to be in the presence of the evil people who are not doing the right thing for the lord. Your God’s love and for you all so be happy 😊 with your family and friends with your help for your life and love to see god’s work and his words, with respect to god’s love and blessings for you all the people who are in the grips of evil 😈 need to be safe and happy for everyone to be safe and happy 😊. You have to believe in your God’s words that you will have to have the word to say the truth about what is wrong with the people who don’t know what they do. Not only do we need to find God’s love but everything else will have to do anything to help others will come to god’s word. Do not judge me do not judge the truth about what you say but be honest about what you know when god’s word comes to life you will know what to do with that. Christen will never give up on any one but I’ll pick up the cross and I’ll never be afraid 😱 to go in to the pits to save one of my brother or sister from the evil people and the lord knows what I have to do to help him with the truth and pray god’s words will be with us all.amen pray 🙏 god’s love ❤️
