Lionel Martin plays Penderecki Capriccio per Siegfried Palm

I know, this channel consists of not much else right now, but here is another rendition of Krzysztof Penderecki's captivating Capriccio per Siegfried Palm. Written in 1968, it is one of his early pieces, full of humour and irony, brilliantly varied sound effects all over the cello, being occasionally disarmed by an innocent C Major chord.

The most recent winner of the Guilhermina suggia award. Many congratulations on the award. I'm fifteen years old, I'm a cello student and I was at the Casa da Musica concert. I was impressed by the way you interpreted Prokofiev's concertante symphony. A full sound and very good technique. But what caught my attention the most was the artistic aspect and the sensitivity you demonstrated in the performance. You managed to trace a very interesting path in the piece, giving meaning to the concertant symphony. Once again many congratulations.
