That fog horn was created by the Martians from their early years of human study's and found a love for the horn we used before medieval battles and so on. In fact they put it in as a rally call asewell as a small respect to the humans. It was a obvious warning and war. It was a head start as well as a challenge. To all humans so that the war would begin. Also no matter how old I am that fog war horn will always put a strange chill down my spine
PearlyGreat it's cannon in the script as well as the book that the Martians could have studied as far back as Greek battles due to their counters and battle strategic maneuvers however their vocus on warfare was mainly ancient battle then from World War One (the Great War) to World War Two and through the present the fog horn was based upon human communication surrounding charges and through boat calls indicating there intentions. If you notice they use this call fit both as a general hey I'm over here type thing. It can be charge retreat harvest or just move out.
It has been years, but I still return to this from time to time. There is a certain apocalyptic or strange relaxation to its inevitability or constant march of the greater unknown.
O.O I was walking in the woods at night when i had heard.... what where they called? i think they dubbed the noise the trumpet of the gods on youtube but i saw a squadron of USAF f/a-18 hornets fly over at about 15,000 ft after about 10 min of hearing the sound.
people say it's the tumpits for the end of the world the apocalips I heard them sounds but I live in the middle of no were and I was walking me dog and heard the sound and then I heard a giant ship noise and there is no sea near were I live so I'm freaking out right now.
This sound is so fucking creepy and so badass ... After i saw the film for seven times. At eight years old for the first time i saw that the nightmares followed me for every evening!
Step 1: wait for thunder storm with lots of lightening and thunder. Step 2: place speakers in hidden areas but with good accustics. Step 3: turn on right after storm is finished. Step 4: ??? Step 5: Profit
i showed my 4 year old sister the movie and she wasnt scared, once she was upstairs i played this as loud as possible and she came screaming to me and she said she heard a tripod!
I like to turn my volume all the way down and then slowly, very slowly turn it up, and after a few seconds of it being at 100% I slowly turn it down, sounds like the Tripod just walked by, try it, it's fun
I know a TV series exists, but I would live to see one where the Martians have successfully invaded the earth and small groups of human survivors fight them
Sounds like something that would be in Star Wars. Like the walking sound, it sounds like an AT AT walking- These sounds would go great with an Imperial land vehicle.
I wonder what the purpose of the horn actually is, Tripods based around the H.G Wells depiction seem to have the horn as some form of communication between Tripods, but these kind of Tripods seem to have more of a psychological warfare aspect with their horn.
Imagine being up there, above the ground, on the hill, seeing these little ants called humans that are scared of you and you just basicly liquify them because you are a bloody hell of a beast
I'm beginning to wonder if this is just for scaring Humans, or if it's the Maritans' way of communicating. Maybe the different pitches mean different emotions, or tones of voice.
I love that sound when the invasion begins the horn, Evan the way they walk those Machines they look Cool. Watching a couple of times I jumped a quiet a few times but by watching it over and over again I got used to watching without a jump scare, My favorite part is when the Thunderstorms at the start before awesome machines Come up from the ground. I love the look of those tripods Aliens.
I watched this in theaters when i was about 8 with my cousin and holy shit! This sound and the whole movie was scary asf! Hearing this in theaters was something else.
okay listen to this at full volume..... and play guns fighting and war sound effects video and 10 hour air raid siren at same time with youtube volume at half for both its AMAZING and messege me in the comments once you have tried it tell me what you thought about it
god that sound scare the fucking hell out of me im serious as serious can be it terrifies me...and wow cant imagine what it would be like to fight a battle with this sound from the enemy
i watched the movie when my parents werent home with surround sound but i paused the movie and got to the toilet and i heard a tripod horn when i was on the toilet, was scared as hell figured out the movie wasnt paused at all XD
I always thought...we have tanks, planes and ships yet we don't have war machine walkers like that in war of the worlds. What if the military created something similar to this. A real fighting machine from WOTW.
They would have great difficulty supporting their own weight, much less the weight of fuel, weapon systems and ammunition with current metallurgy. Furthermore at that size they would not fare well in soft terrain, would be giant targets for artillery and aircraft as well as tank Hunter infantry. Current internal combustion or jet turbine power systems would have trouble giving them locomotion, and that could be solved by bigger engines or different engines but the power to weight ratio would be atrocious and you'd end up with the same effect: sluggish locomotion, if any locomotion at all. They would need to be supported by infantry and anti aircraft much more than a tank or IFV. If you scaled it way, waaaaaaaay down to about five to six meters in height you might make it work. Maybe. But then ask yourself if a conventional APC/IFV armed with a 20-25 millimeter autocannon doesn't already do the job more effectively. You can even put anti-tank missiles on them, or anti-aircraft gins, or rockets, or comm and ECM/ECCM. I love me some big stompy robots, I really do, but IRL they're impractical and have a massive barrier against their actualization: Physics.

mi aspettavo tutti tranne te
If I heard this sound I would jump out the window head first then run to the hills
Then the hills would explode.
Luke Beers that would suck
If my house had a basement I'd grab all the food/water I could carry in one trip and just fucking hide there
***** Assuming I survived the initial I dunno 24 hours, hope theyre blind af like the ones in the movie

@@esextafeirayeee9600 THE TRIPODS ARE HERE
Imagine being in a building at night and hearing that in the distance.
Been over 10 years since this movie was released. This still gives me goosebumps.

Hey , Tu Soy Español Como tu y no se que significado tiene orgasmic , pero bueno espero que signifique que respetes este sonido
Good for you
It has been years, but I still return to this from time to time. There is a certain apocalyptic or strange relaxation to its inevitability or constant march of the greater unknown.
I freaking love tripods man!! the horn noises, walking sounds, lasers etc. WAR OF THE WORLDS RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YESSSSSSSSẞSSSSSSSS IM NOT THE ONLY ONE
Remember watching it as a kid in the cinema, was my fav movie for years. Still have the DVD actually ;)
I have it on many movie apps I don't know why????
i have a dvd of wotw too!
this noise barely scares me nowadays, i kinda miss that feeling
I have it on Netflix
OMG in 2013 there was strange noises in the sky all around the world and they sounded exactly like the tripods sound o-o
Then this is what i say..........
THE END IS NIGH

Agreed.

im pregnant for real
im a real alien i speak alien language lets talk me and you
That's a nice ambient sound, the walking part. The horn is cool, too, and it freaks people out who aren't expecting it.
Step 6: Greet the cops at your door.
"Babe Please Stop! Your Not a 2005 alien Tripod-"
Me: BRRAAAAAAUUUUUUUWWAAAAAAURRRGGGGHOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM🗣🔥
i showed my 4 year old sister the movie and she wasnt scared, once she was upstairs i played this as loud as possible and she came screaming to me and she said she heard a tripod!
Getting a like for how funny this comment is
I like to turn my volume all the way down and then slowly, very slowly turn it up, and after a few seconds of it being at 100% I slowly turn it down, sounds like the Tripod just walked by, try it, it's fun
Hahaha bro it is actually lol
Awesome you just made this even better
Nice it was
I'm listening at 1:20 Am
This is my type of ASMR
I know a TV series exists, but I would live to see one where the Martians have successfully invaded the earth and small groups of human survivors fight them
I can't stop listening to this
Good thing it's an hour long
Same
hmmmm the tripod can be built but in a smaller scale who knows maybe we might create it into something useful
call me late, but if you build it tall enough maybe it'll be useful
This is like the Dalek engine sound for me, strangely calming to the point I could fall asleep, if not for the blaring foghorns lol.
At one hour and twelve minutes into the movie, Legion, you will also hear this trumpet sound. There is no mistaking it.
It's just two notes, A and C slightly shifting down to C flat but, bloody hell, it just works; one of the scariest sound effects ever....
What instrument though? I want to scare my classmates in music
That deep bass is what gets me.
Awesome horn.
somebody played this on a speaker at night and and i ran 5 miles
Sounds like something that would be in Star Wars.
Like the walking sound, it sounds like an AT AT walking- These sounds would go great with an Imperial land vehicle.
What I imagine a Titan and skitarii legion soundslike when marching to war
Titans can beat the tripods in a fight, the Titans would just step on them. I don't know about the skitarii legion though?
When I stay in hotels and I'm in the bathroom if they have good acoustics I make this noise over and over.
The horn sound is bad enough but that Incessant machine noise goes right to the core. Goes me chills to this day.
I wonder what the purpose of the horn actually is, Tripods based around the H.G Wells depiction seem to have the horn as some form of communication between Tripods, but these kind of Tripods seem to have more of a psychological warfare aspect with their horn.
they also communicate with the sounds like in the ferry scene
Imagine being up there, above the ground, on the hill, seeing these little ants called humans that are scared of you and you just basicly liquify them because you are a bloody hell of a beast
That would be so cool
Spielberg knows how to create monsters of our soul

i watched the movie when my parents werent home with surround sound but i paused the movie and got to the toilet and i heard a tripod horn when i was on the toilet, was scared as hell figured out the movie wasnt paused at all XD
And you getting another like for how funny THIS comment is
I always thought...we have tanks, planes and ships yet we don't have war machine walkers like that in war of the worlds.
Have you ever watched war of the worlds goliath? Theres answers to your question there.
Black Onyx that would be pretty cool, but scary.
Maybe if we manage to invent a powerful but efficient engine system
@@SoulSoundMuisc with current tech yeah, but who’s to say we couldn’t have practical and decently functional mechs in the future.
I hope to god that someday the protestors across the nation hear this. They earned it.
Man that movie scared me to death I have even had nightmares of that sound and seeing those tripods damn
I find the horn beautiful. Scary, but beautiful, like the instrument of the apocalypse
