i struggled so much with Suttree that i left it, half way through. it felt like a failure, i mean my reading it, not the book. would you mind sharing if you have had similar experience with a difficult book? how did you deal with the feeling of not finishing it?
This is worth a video on its own at some point (maybe in the form of a discussion of how to handle such books when researching your own projects, etc.), but my offhand take is this. Sometimes it's not about the book, but the circumstances. If you just can't get through something, set it aside and come back to it after having experienced a bunch of other books. People go through experiences over the course of even a couple of years that can prime them far better than they might realize for a book they previously couldn't manage. Be patient with yourself. There's always something else to read.
I'm glad I found your channel. Looking forward to the next video.
You nailed this tag, and I knew you would. insightful, succinct answers throughout. Thank you for joining in!
Buying a book with no intention of reading it seems crazy to me. An interesting list of questions.
Found you because of GEB, stayed for the interesting ideas. Please keep up the great work!
