Agreed! And Jackary and their spokespeople often work together to get power packs donated to the people who’ve lost their homes and live in their cars... people who need some help. I will always purchase from them.
I camp with a CPAP (Resmed S10) & a Jackery 240 and use a DC to DC adapter to reduce the power consumption of the CPAP (DC/DC is more efficient then DC/AC {outlet}) . 7 to 8 hours of use and the most I have used in one night was 40% of power with the humidifier off, heated hose off, and wifi off {plan mode}. Then I use a Rockpals 60W solar panel to top if off and I can go for days.
I have the small Jackery (smaller than the 240) for my home for when the electric goes out. I also take on road trips, even short one because one never knows. I'd like a bigger one and the solar panels but not affordable for me currently.
Solar has made camping so much easier. Definitely going to get one. I am curious if you have a small, electric portable heater that you could plug into the Jackery to use on those cold mornings? And also, maybe a small quiet portable fan for those hot nights? Tight lines!
i have a Jackery 1000 and anything that uses heat coils, ie small heater ,airfryers, coffeemaker uses up wattage dependin on appliance wattage like1500w small heater only last 20-25 mins or less on full,a coffeemaker will use 15% from turning on till full brew pot,.my12v iceco jp50 fridge/freezer will last 4-5 days, airfryer will use same as heater, these are some of the appliances that ive tested
I guess they aren't marketing these anymore, but I just bought a Honda By Jackery power station at Auto Zone. They don't even list it on their website anymore, but apparently the one I bought is similar to the 160 but has a 208Whr battery compared to 167 or so in the 160. Also it is red and black with Honda stamped on it. Cool little power station. Going to use it on my boat.
I bought the 240 a month or so ago. I tested it with my CPAP machine and with a full charge I got 5 hours use on it before it turned off. I should have saved up for the 500. Oh well....I`m 63 years old and normally only sleep 5 or 6 hours anyway.....so the 240 will work in case of hurricanes taking out my power here in central Florida. Ty4Sharing
I have the 240. The reason I picked it is for the size and weight. There is nothing wrong with having two. One that is stationary and one that is portable. I'm saving up to add the 500 or a 1000. If you bought it at Amazon, you can probably return it and get the next size up.
@@GatorLife57 Thanks for the valuable info. 😄 I live in a very dry climate, and use the humidifier regularly. Though, if I use a Jackery camping, the RH is likely to be higher than indoors.
Love my baby jackery 160. I use it for tent camping to charge my fan, my water warmer, and my phone. Going to use it to warm me up a couple times next week with a 12 volt blanket. Highly recommend to everyone.
@@secondact7151 I have had the coffee warmer for many years, only use it camping a few times a year. I have a jackery 160 and this warmer takes about 15 to 20 mins to get warmer. It will take about 10 percent of the 160. I plug it in, I go and get cleaned up, change clothes, and brush my teeth and by that time it's warm. Now what I do on my 2 to 4 day camping trips is make my coffee ahead and bring a big 40 ounce thermas of coffee and heat it up with the warmer. This is a similar brand from Amazon. I turn it on and it takes about 10 mins to heat up, and then turn It off. It takes about 15 percent of my jackery 160. I do this a couple or 3 times a night if I need it. Love my 240. Will be buying the panels soon. Hope to get 2 sets and try them out before I buy my van this summer. Retiring soon, then on the road. Love my Jackery !!!
We love our Jackery 500 for camping. The next one I would buy is a Jackery 1500/. If we lived in the south instead of the Pacific Northwest I’d get the solar panels. Also if I need to charge my iPad or phones quicker in our home, I’ll use the Jackery over the wall outlet.
I have been looking at the Jackery 500, but wasn't willing to fork over $500 for it. The 15% off deal pushed me over the edge and I ordered one. I have a DC fridge for camping and a pellet smoker at home that requires 110 and got tired of running an extension cord so I'm curious to see how it does.
I just bought a Rockpal generator setup. I purchase a 20 ft wire for the solar panal w appropriate connectors. So I can bring generator closer to my electronics. You may still need extention cord for inside depending on situations. I found out the plugs are not standardized and had to return long wires. Order wires after u get generator and panals.
Suppose I want to buy a battery power. I would just need something for charging phone, laptop and tablet as well as USB fans and fridge. But I would also be on a long haul and not just camp. Possibly live in my suv for weeks or months probably for years. What would I need for something that'll last a while?
The 300 is a much better unit than the 240. The 300 has a newer style solar controller. MPPT on the 300 and PWM on the 240, so it will charge in about half of the time. I am guessing that once the supplies of the 240 are gone, it will no longer be offered.
@@jadanblue3927 Maybe the reviewer that I was watching (HOBOTECH) had an older version. The 240 can take 42W in while the 300 can take 90W. It seems odd.... I would still go with the 300 because of the charge time (and additional power.)
@@JohnnyG1956 good info thanks. I had already bought the 240 on sale but sounds like the 300 is a great product too (the 300 was sold out) I am budgeting for a 2,000 watt Lithium house system so I can finally get real fridge someday and never buy ice again
Future nomad here. Can I ask you all: What if you don't have a home to charge your portable power station at? And what if you live where it's cloudy most of the time and so solar won't work? Is the only way to charge the power station, then, to charge it via your "generator", i e. the engine in your car? In that case, how long must you run your car's engine to charge the power station call the way up? 10 minutes? 5 hours? I have NO idea. Thank you!
I appreciated your video. Straightforward, Factual, Concise. I looking to buy a Jackery unit. Ultimately I'll love to own the Explorer 1000 but that is above my budget level. At 70+ years old, I don't need much portable power when I'm van camping (fishing trips mostly). 370watt 12V or 450watt 12V Rice Cooker or RoadPro Wamer/Oven, an set of LED String Lights and a small USB Fan and my cell phone I'm GO TO GO. Would the Jackery 500 be able to handle those simple needs for a rainy day or an overnight trip? I love that Jackery is pretty much Plug and Play. No having to control it via a cell phone application. YOUR feedback would be most helpful and much appreciated. Thanks 😊!
I wonder what went sideways with my experience. I bought the “500” and it says it would power a 12v fridge of 60 w for 37 hours. I didn’t find that to be true. On maiden journey out, after less then 16 hours I found it has less than 6% left running my 45 w 12v fridge. And I had hoped to have had it recharging as I drove, but the plug came out , unbeknownst to me..😂 . It may be that I had the fridge on High the first night- I’m getting used to that too... but Jackery site Says 37 hours on a 60 w cooler....
Every claim like the one you listed has to have a disclaimer that "your mileage may vary". I mean, do the maths. 500w can only run a 60w appliance for 8.33hrs full bore so if they tested it and ran it for 37hrs there had to be a lot of fiddling... err, I mean optimizing. Your temp setting, the thermal mass of the contents and its initial temp and the initial temp in the fridge all influence the consumption of power, especially the number of times you open the fridge to take something out. I bet that's why Tristan suggested buying the next larger Jackery than you think you need as your mileage will vary from the idealized settings during testing.
@@oceandrew ya, I know that now. I liked the plug & play idea and taking a 12v fridge/ freezer... I need to find the rest of the story on how to work it , all together to work for me better. Wish Jackery had a trade in or more real life information. RUclipsrs get us great ideas. I’m not great with electric equations
@@KG-cl9gv You may have better luck finding information on how to minimize the power draw from the fridge/freezer. I believe Tristan did get into that a bit when he first started plugging Jackery with his fridge set up.
I’m getting a portable 2000 watt / 1700 running watts pure sine wave generator for $450.00 with a 10.5 hour running time at 25% load...rain or shine...Batteries continue to degrade over time...get a portable generator for backup...
Easy decision for me ... went with a 1000, because the smaller units won’t power some appliances. Notably, my coffee maker won’t run off the smaller units, so that was a non-starter for me.
Re your comment on the shortcomings of your roof mounted panel, I do not like a roof mounted solar panel because if you are in the sun for a recharge, you are baking hot. Put a leg on the panel along with a longer cable and place it in the sun. This way you can position the panel for optimal angle and orientation periodically throughout the day.
I'll have to check out Jackerys as I have a Black/Decker brand now that has an inverter, compressor, USB charging, and battery jump starter that has helped me as well as other's that I have helped that needed a jump. These are great items that every car owner should have. This would make a great Christmas gift for those that have almost everything and appreciate it when they really need it. Power Stations to me are a great invention implementing the use of a portable battery power source.
I would love a jacket. I've been wanting one and can't afford it on my ss. I live in a camper and it would help me out alot. Love all the positive talk about them.
I've heard that when you want to use solar to charge these up you need an extra lead which isn't supplied with Jackery, could you tell me if this is right or not? Lots of folks saying that they had to order it after buying the power stations and the solar but no lead to plug into one another. I want the 250W so a solar connection would be ideal as I live in Spain where we have quite a lot of sunshine - thank you all in advance x
I didn’t read the manual at all lmao. I just threw them away and plugged my jackfruit in. I zip tied a box fan to the top ceiling of my tent and it works perfectly. I also use T-Mobile Wi-Fi. Just plug it into the hackers and I have a conditioned tent with portable Wi-Fi.
Thanks. I just started to look into this and camp in my Yukon xl almost like yours and same color. I’m just concerned which one I need that runs a small heater+heated blanket and mattress pad+ phone and portable chargers, laptop, small fridge, and 32” tv😄 and do you think I need 100 watts solar panel or two.
For teh 12 volt cigarette connection can you run a splitter on it and connect a fridge and diesel heater at the same time? How many amps can the cigarette lighter handle?
You can always ad more batteries later. As u get more experienced. When u buy items for van. Look at watts and buy smaller wattage items. Yse more non electric items. Ex. Pour over coffee pots. Propane stove, led lighting etc. Set it for plug into electric ability too! Like a teardrop.
Has anyone dissected one yet? I'm curious to know if they are powered by 18650 batteries like Milwaukee and most vape mods or do they use the 21700? Not that it matters, just curious.
Nice video, could you tell me which Jackery would give me the most nights camping with my Resmed air sense 10 c pap machine with the humidifier turn off? I think you'll say obviously the 1000 watt, but that's close to a $1000 dollars, UGH! THANK YOU
I live in Florida. The Tampa Bay area. That 1500 would be perfect. In the summer we have a lot of thunderstorms. Our electric always goes out. It would be perfect here.
More power equals more higher electronic device that uses high power electronic. And longer run time. The 300 suits me just perfect for everyday charging all my small electronic device. My next one will be the explorer 1500 watt for bigger appliances need as for now, the 300 is plenty enough for me.
Most heaters are 1500 watts. I have bought a volcano 750 watt space heater. You would need 2 100 watt solar panels. I would another way to warm plants. 1000 to 1500 watt generator about low $1200 estimate
Those Jackerys are expensive. The 1000 watt Jackery holds about 46 amp hours. You can get a deep cycle marine battery that holds 200 amp hours for about the same price as the Jackery . 1000. Hooking up the deep cycle battery is more complicated you need an inverter, fuse and you need to understand the difference between a series and parallels connection but you get alot more power for you're money. 46 amp hours is plenty if you are spending an evening out with only basic camping supplies but if you are trying to live in you're Van 3 or 4 days a week like me and run a mini-fridge/laptop you need alot more than 46 amp hours.
Do these have a cooling fans? The reason I ask is I want to use them to power LED Drawer lights for a kitchen island that has no power. The LEDs are 2W-10W each and go on only when you have the drawer open, so I imagine the battery would last a very long time. But if it has its own fan, I don't imagine it would last very long.
If I use it as a backup meaning if I keep it plugged to the wall in case of an outage for a portable internet and a internet signal booster, question is will I burn it ?
Would the Jackery 240 be enough to load the car battery at least to some 20-30 % capacity (through a battery charger plugged on the AC socket) or at least to start the car? My car is parked outside, there is no power in the near and the battery is hard to remove and take home to charge. I know the 500 would do it but the 240 is cheaper, that's why i ask.
Can you help? I need something to power up a 3 watt amp. I want to play guitar outdoors with my karaoke machine. Which one should I get? But, I don't want the 1000. Looks massive and I want to be able to fit the power supply in my book bag
I plan on using mine for Resmed Air10 cpap and possibly an electric blanket when overlanding. I would use the DC converter for the cpap and I normally do not use the humidifier function on it anyway. I would be recharging it from the car during the day each day that I'm out, so I'm really only needing 10-12 hours of use with these items at a time. Would a 300 be enough or should I go with the 500. The only dislike I have about the 500 is that is does not have the USB C port that allows charging which is becoming the new standard yet.
The 500 ran our home 6ft freezer unit for 10 hours from 100% charge. Hope this helps. So it can be used in an emergency at home for a short term power cut - one must assume therefore that the 1000w will give around twice that.

Appreciate the specifics on portable power. I’ve heard good things about Jackery, but was unsure of the appliances they support. Now I know!
Did you ever get an answer to this? I was wondering about the electric space heater too.
@@freemom5723 No, I did not get a reply on this.
Lasko makes a personal heater with high and low settings that I have used with my Jackery 240.
i have a Jackery 1000 and anything that uses heat coils, ie small heater ,airfryers, coffeemaker uses up wattage dependin on appliance wattage like1500w small heater only last 20-25 mins or less on full,a coffeemaker will use 15% from turning on till full brew pot,.my12v iceco jp50 fridge/freezer will last 4-5 days, airfryer will use same as heater, these are some of the appliances that ive tested
Best for full fridge (2) backup power? 1500?
Or maybe the 1000 with one or 2 solar panels?
I guess they aren't marketing these anymore, but I just bought a Honda By Jackery power station at Auto Zone. They don't even list it on their website anymore, but apparently the one I bought is similar to the 160 but has a 208Whr battery compared to 167 or so in the 160. Also it is red and black with Honda stamped on it. Cool little power station. Going to use it on my boat.
Wow, I ordered a Jackery yesterday and it's shipped today. That's great customer service so far!
This is the kind of video i needed to decide whether to get one of these! Thanks! :)
missing this sale, hope have another sale coming soon
Today big sale
Curious if you were using the humidifier on your CPAP?
@@timdowney6721 No sir. I don`t ever use the humidifier. It is an older machine and I probably need to upgrade anyways....lol.
@@secondact7151 Thank you for info.
@@GatorLife57
Thanks for the valuable info.
Which water warmer are you using? Did you get your blanket from Walmart? Please let us know how long and well it works.
@@secondact7151
I have had the coffee warmer for many years, only use it camping a few times a year. Wagan EL6100 12 volt stainless steel 16 oz heated travel mug.
Wagan EL6100 12V Stainless Steel 16 oz Heated Travel
@@secondact7151
For the blanket, I have had it longer than the mug. What I do with it is turn it on (mine and the one I linked have to timer or gauge). I turn it on and it takes about 10 mins to heat up, and then turn It off. It takes about 15 percent of my jackery 160. I do this a couple or 3 times a night if I need it. If u have a sharpa blanket or wool blanket and wear 2 socks, some fleece pjs u will be good. The similar brand to the one I have is on Amazon at with this name. Stalwart 75-hblanket Electric Car Blanket- Heated 12
I tried to link to both products that are affordable - less than $35 for both as of right now. Hope these help.
Got my Jackery 240 from Amazon for 208$
Major price break...
Great unit for emergency situations or just camping. Etc...
Thank you for a great an honest review. I got the 1,000 and the 500 during there anniversary sale with two solar panels my only regret is not getting them sooner they are awesome especially during power outages a must have. New subscriber God Bless you.
I just bought the Jackery 160 via your affiliate link. I’ll keep it with me in red rover.
Nice video! I just purchased a1000 2 solar panels getting it this Thursday March 17 very excited! saved up for it. Waiting to get my tear drop trailer from Hiker trailer .been backing &camping since the70s as a kid going to enjoy road trips and as a base camp to come back to.safe travels
4:50 LOL , how hard could it be to locate an electrical outlet , unless you searching for one in a cave ?
Sounds like you’ve never been in a house built before 1950.
Love my 240. Will be buying the panels soon. Hope to get 2 sets and try them out before I buy my van this summer. Retiring soon, then on the road. Love my Jackery !!!
I would love to have one of these.this would make my life a lot easyer.
I am eager to buy a Jackery. Thanks for the helpful information.
I love my jackery 500. It’s a shame they took so long to launch in the Uk.
Thank you. I was really stumped about which to get, you made it so much easier to decide. 😊
Everybody has a price. Using your advice I will get one of these contraptions and if it doesn't work will give details here or where ever i can.
Jackery web site shows MPPT for the 240 www.jackery.com/products/explorer-240-portable-power-station?variant=19479246864471
What if, you need to run a Zero Breeze air conditioner, a fan, a 12v fridge and a mini-TV? What size Jackery do you recommend?
Future nomad here. Can I ask you all: What if you don't have a home to charge your portable power station at? And what if you live where it's cloudy most of the time and so solar won't work? Is the only way to charge the power station, then, to charge it via your "generator", i e. the engine in your car? In that case, how long must you run your car's engine to charge the power station call the way up? 10 minutes? 5 hours? I have NO idea. Thank you!
I bought a 240 over the summer because of scheduled power outages. I love it and the solar panel.
Arrg! Missed the dates. 3 days only?!?
They are having a sale it ends today go to their website
Thanks. I ended up going non-portable for my van. 400ah Li, 3000 watt inverter, dc/dc charger. Solar in future. Thanks.
@@oceandrew Thank you.
Coffee maker. Look for pour over pots with boiling water for non electric coffee. Think low watt items for your camp gear.
Do the solar panels really work? And if so how well. Can you run and power at the same time?
How long does it take to charge these fully if they’re dead
Hmmm. Wonder if a 2000 is coming soon?
Re your comment on the shortcomings of your roof mounted panel, I do not like a roof mounted solar panel because if you are in the sun for a recharge, you are baking hot. Put a leg on the panel along with a longer cable and place it in the sun. This way you can position the panel for optimal angle and orientation periodically throughout the day.
Thank you for your short, clear and very informative video! Finally i know what i need for my Cpap!
How about a George forman grill. Or a small rice cooker. Toaster
Get the 1000 watt for those appliances.
Linus Tech Tips gamed on the 1000 watt power station. He used a power hungry gaming PC and monitor, wasn't even fully charged. It lasted quite awhile.
Guess the sale is over now that I see this January 14 :-)
Right : /
I found January 27 :(. Hope they go on sale again.
Another sale ends today 15% off
Good info. It came handy i have this on my list to get me one!!
I have the 160 watt unit and it works good for what I need to power
Has anyone dissected one yet? I'm curious to know if they are powered by 18650 batteries like Milwaukee and most vape mods or do they use the 21700? Not that it matters, just curious.
Nice video, could you tell me which Jackery would give me the most nights camping with my Resmed air sense 10 c pap machine with the humidifier turn off? I think you'll say obviously the 1000 watt, but that's close to a $1000 dollars, UGH! THANK YOU
The 300 was sold out online this morning
I'm told it will be back in stock in late November (2020)
what solar panels do you use?
I live in Florida. The Tampa Bay area. That 1500 would be perfect. In the summer we have a lot of thunderstorms. Our electric always goes out. It would be perfect here.
i got the jackery 160 but wish i wouldve gotten the 240 instead.. that wouldve been perfect for my uses
Shannon, good for you! you can afford all those new items. It’s a sale.
So I’m finding for the 500, I’m going to need more power...
More power equals more higher electronic device that uses high power electronic. And longer run time. The 300 suits me just perfect for everyday charging all my small electronic device. My next one will be the explorer 1500 watt for bigger appliances need as for now, the 300 is plenty enough for me.
what about a water Lily when you are in the shade ???
what is the largest jackery
Hackett has great customer service. I will stick with Jackery for that simple fact. And their products are awesome.
which one would you recommend for a small heater? It's for a small greenhouse. Maybe once in a while run a led grow light.
Most heaters are 1500 watts. I have bought a volcano 750 watt space heater. You would need 2 100 watt solar panels. I would another way to warm plants. 1000 to 1500 watt generator about low $1200 estimate
Thank you for going through the Jackery models!
Thank you for the info. I am going camping and was wondering about a c pap machine.
46 amp hours is plenty if you are spending an evening out with only basic camping supplies but if you are trying to live in you're Van 3 or 4 days a week like me and run a mini-fridge/laptop you need alot more than 46 amp hours.
great review and thanks for the update on the sale!
I just bought the explorer 500 on the current sale, to use camping out of my mini van. Will a thunderbolt solar panel change it. What size?
Do these have a cooling fans? The reason I ask is I want to use them to power LED Drawer lights for a kitchen island that has no power. The LEDs are 2W-10W each and go on only when you have the drawer open, so I imagine the battery would last a very long time. But if it has its own fan, I don't imagine it would last very long.
I got one on amzon. Thanks for the review sir.
If I use it as a backup meaning if I keep it plugged to the wall in case of an outage for a portable internet and a internet signal booster, question is will I burn it ?
I have a question when the solar is getting energy can you run the frigerator for hours and hours full size big house fridge
I'm not familiar enough with cpap machines to know how much power they draw. Sorry!
