  • Hello again adventurers! Check out my second favorite spot in Oregon: the iconic Smith Rock near Terrebonne. The steep Misery Ridge Trail is carved into the side of the “rock”, switch-backing some 650’ to the top, then offering spectacular views of the Cascades, the Oregon High Desert, Monkey Face (famous rock climbing pillar), and the Crooked River below.
Joining us for this outstanding hike - plus a stop at Sisters Coffee - was our niece, Grace. She brought along her three soccer teammates from Clarion University in Pennsylvania, who chose to experience the wild beauty of Oregon for their Spring Break.
Note: some of the still photos at the end-of-video slide show are from a hike I did here in 2020.
Smith Rock is an Oregon State Park. Parking permits are $5.
BTW, Smith is a spectacular #2, but Steens Mountain is still my #1 favorite spot in Oregon. The Blitzen River Trail, one of many magnificent Steens hikes, is featured in one of my previous videos: • Blitzen River Trail on... I hope to add more Steens Mountain hikes to the channel in the future.
Google Maps' location: Smith Rock State Park Welcome Center (at the trailhead): 9V87+93 Terrebonne, Oregon
