Basenji pups ARE adorable. I have a Senior girl whom we rescued. One thing to keep in mind is they are NOT easy to care for. They require LOTS of love, attention, walking, etc. It is truly like having a toddler in my home again but she is worth it ALL. They are absolutely the most AMAZING creatures with whom I have ever had the privilege of sharing my life. They are the OLDEST and PUREST breed in the world and are SO fast, they are used to hunt lion in the Congo today! They are very clean, loyal animals but do not let one own you JUST because they are cute, beautiful, barkless, etc. KNOW they are LOTS of work but truly, truly AMAZING! There is LOTS of info on the web about Basenji. Do your research before deciding you would like to share your life with one (or more) and be prepared for JOY JOY JOY!
The "hunting lions" and "oldest breed in the world" are completely made up myths they are called lion dogs in africa but they never hunted lions, more so protection when lions were close for African people theres plenty of older breeds of dogs in africa and europe. Also if your getting a dog because it "kills lions" and "is the oldest breed" then I dont think you're mature enough for a dog :/
Thanks for the info. Planning to have one in the near future. ❤️❤️

Ig it's a sad fact that I never seen my dog as a puppy (bcs we adopted him when he was older and he's a streetdog) but im happy that he's fine uwu
Да их у вас целая банда!!!
We are getting a basenji in two months! I'm am excited!
Is it your first dog?
these dogs are for people who like Jack Russells without the noise and they are better with kids well I think so anyway
You think so? I find them to be complete opposites, except for the similar appearance and size.
So true we lost our Jack Russell after 14 years, we were devastated and a few months later came our Basenji. She is the smartest sweetest dog we ever had. When she looks at you, you can see her trying to decide whether to listen or not. Our Jack Russell was a barker it took awhile to get used to a barkless dog. Love her little yodel we've only heard it twice.
love, love, love
These dogs also lean aggressive because they're an ancient "primitive" breed. Socialization is crucial. I know because I owned two. One, my father purchased as a puppy when I was a child. And one, I rescued as an adult.
Were they aggressive?
@@jman4668 The one I rescued is definitely aggressive, unfortunately. It's a risk you take when you adopt rescues. She really only likes two people. Me and my sister. Of course, the rescue didn't tell me this until I went through their adoption process.
The one I had as a child was friendlier, however, very aloof with strangers.
i love basenjis and i have one, Oreo :3
Seems like the way to go if breeding!
I want one!!!
Just what the basenjis need, human puppies to play with them.
So cute.

ADOPT A HOMELESS DOG. Don’t support filthy, greedy breeders!
I have adopted a rescue. Twice, actually. And both times the dogs had massive behavioral/socialization problems. My next dog will definitely come from a reputable breeder. I want to see the puppy's parents and siblings. I want to meet its breeders face-to-face. Owning a dog is a long commitment. I want to be sure that the dog I purchase has the best temperament possible. Reactive/fearful dogs are an intense liability and not every family wants nor is prepared to deal with such issues.
Rescues need to be more honest about the personality of their dogs. Otherwise, they're going to get a lot of dogs returned. Personally, I have not returned my dogs, because I have experience with reactive dogs. However, I am done with rescues simply because I'm tired of the dishonesty by omission.
