The Richinbar Mine was the location of one of Arizona's largest high grade gold deposits with veins of gold as "wide as a mans thumb". In this episode I explore the ruins and try to find a way in to this historic mine.

    Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on RUclips!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...

Talking about thermals in the desert.... in the 1970's I was a navigator instructor assigned to the Training Wing at Mather AFB in Sacramento, CA. We flew T-43s which were USAF versions of a Boeing 737-200. One of the missions we flew was radar low levels mostly flown on OB-400 an approved low level route that went down the Bryce Canyon. Missions had to be finished before 9 AM in the winter and 8 AM in the summer of the thermals were so bad they would throw us around like a rag doll.

    Gly,
I don't care what anyone may say or think, "I" happen to *ADORE* your aerial/drone views! It really shows the amazing terrain/scenery, and THEN lets you/us focus down and into individual mines.
'Perspective' in a very unique and enjoyable manner, what's NOT to love/appreciate?!

Here in WV. We have roads and houses collapsing into old abandoned mines. Supposedly they didn’t know how to survey under ground in the 1800’s. Our state doesn’t no where all the old mines are. A lot were mom and pop mines.

I'll be darned, look at that river gorge running thru that area. Very scenic. That whole area of land for miles seem s to be basaltic. (wonder where the magma came from??? or was the area an upthrust over eons? Geology & strata is so interesting. Going on your "recons" with you, one/you get to see alot of land contours. (lucky you), lucky us, that you filmed this area. Seen other workings (holes, pits) along the slopes of the hills as you droned thru. What is that all about? And petroglphs too! Bonanza!

Fantastic episode Gly, I really enjoyed seeing how the silt had hardened and was left behind when the tank was removed. But wow the Dam was just awesome I've never seen anything like that before. I wonder how hard that material is? Does it form back into rock or is it kind of crumbly? Oh, and the petraglyphs were so cool. I can't help wonder what sort of lives the "Artists" had all those thousands of years ago. Sorry to ramble on but thanks so much Gly. A great video 🎉❤🎉

Great spot Gly, I’ve visited this spot but haven’t gone down into the mine itself but did see the petroglyphs. I wonder if you can get access to Maggie Mine?? I never asked the owner as it’s private patented claim and you can see the portal from the road, Which my claim is literally right around the corner from Maggie. You should be able to see the beginings of the portal that went in 5 or 6 ft that I started 3 yrs ago on the horseshoe but it has collapsed after this past winters rains. I have videos of it on my other YT channel aka wygold’s metal detecting adventures. Most of what I’m mining on the claim is spoils that the 80’s operation left behind. Theres another mine off of Coldwater Rd & 17 across from Chileans and the adit is accessible by driving up to it. Thing is idk what they were mining and couldn’t find any reports except that it was done in the 40’s-50’s and where all that tailings came from that sits on the side of the hill above from the adit and maybe theres an incline shaft but couldn’t locate it on the surface. If your dining on the outdoor patio at chileans you’ll be able to see the tailings directly north across from the parking lot.

    • @claytona57
      @claytona57 7 месяцев назад +1

If you do check out that spot on coldwater rd & 17 that I mentioned be careful visiting it. Last time I was there was in May of 2023 someone had took up the adit as their residence but they should have been chased out by now as it sit’s inside the boundaries of the Aqua Fria National Monument.

Hello Gly, I hope you get to read this comment. First thing I noticed while you were walking to the PETRO-GLY-PHS, there was a sign post indicating it was a NATIONAL HERITAGE SITE, the first PETRO-GLY-PH, you showed on camera, you said you did not see the image, I think I saw a NATIVE AMERICAN CHIEF, in full HEADDRESS, HOLDING/SMOKING A PIPE". The next information I took from the video, was the comment about the ease of extracting the ore, this might be the reason the Native Americans were at this location. The next thing I noticed was during the DRONE FLIGHT of the surrounding countryside, The highway in the background, on the level terrain, then the GORGES cut by water at the mine location. My thoughts were instant, "ONE COULD TRAVEL ACROSS COUNTRY, AND COMPLETELY MISS THE GORGES JUST A MILE AWAY FROM THEM." This got me thinking about the location of this mine, and "THE LOST DUTCHMAN MINE" story.
So, I watched more videos on the 'LOST DUTCHMAN MINE' and came to these conclusions: 1) the DUTCHMAN, was not DUTCH, he was GERMAN, (ICH BIN DEUTSCHE- =I AM GERMAN, SO, IT REALLY SHOULD BE REFERRED TO "THE LOST GERMAN'S MINE" for reference sake, if he referred to himself as DUTCH, he would have said "IK BEN NEDERLANDS" (I AM DUTCH). FURTHERMORE, the location of the "LOST DEUTSCHE MINE" was north of PHOENIX, AZ. This location you are at is about 45 miles north and about 30 miles north of the trail between FORT McDOWELL and WIKENBERG, IT IS MY BELIEF, THAT YOU HAVE SHOWN THE WORLD "THE LOST DEUTSCHER MANN MINE" because of the ease of extracting the gold, the amount of gold recovered from the mine, and the petro-GLY-phs, at the location.

“Gly”: There’s allot more history regarding the Richinbar Mine on the internet, I only put together a small portion of what took place out there but there’s much much more.

Thanks Gly, I found a lot of information on the LOST DUTCH MAN MINE, and will search the "RICHINBAR MINE HISTORY" I want to clarify why I separated the word petro-gly-phs, so the pronunciation now is petro-gly-phs as in "IF" SO, I THINK IT SHOULD BE "PETRO-GLY-PHS - AS IN "EYE, or AYE"
Thank you for your dedication to produce these videos, It amazes me how hard these miners worked extracting the precious metals from the rocks. I, myself worked in a potash mine, (hard rock miners called us "WUSSES" BECAUSE WE USE MINING MACHINERY TO EXTRACT THE POTASH ORE) as compared to DRILL AND BLAST METHOD, I THINK THE OLD TIMERS WOULD CALL this generation of hard rock miners "WUSSES!" also, compared the working conditions they endured as shown in your videos.

Always wonder why some people have such a small life that they have the time and money to spend their time going around spray-painting and defacing just about everything around them. These vandals are definitely on the bottom of the human barrel. These lowlifes even scrawled their usual gibberish on our trash cans here in my city! Now that's off my chest so let's explore the mine! PS: Love the drone footage too!

“Gly”: I’m happy you’re enjoying the channel! I use the DJI Mavic 3 Cine for the wide shots, the Skydio 2 for the travel shots and the DJI AVATA for drone recon.
