Thank you for all your good work, Debra - your explanations are very clear. This helps in my own understanding of concepts and also in exploring new ideas. Much appreciation.

Thank you for the video... What I really wanna know is have Dorothy Smith talked about discourse and T discourse ??

This was a very good summation of Smith's approach to social inquiry, with one exception that drove me nuts. WEB DuBois is not pronounced using the French pronunciation or Streetcar's Blanche, but Du-Boyz. I know it's counter-intuitive, but that's the real deal.

Celia, Thank you. I know, and unfortunately, I had a professor who always pronounced Du Bois incorrectly... sadly, it stuck in my brain that way. I would like to say that I'll revise where I've made errors on this and other videos. Sadly, there never seems to be enough time ☹️

Sorry to be the kind of picky person I can't stand. It's a very common error! I see it from my grad students all the time. That said, I thought your presentation was excellent.

Not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, but just wanted to put it out there that his name is pronounced "DuBois" as it is written, not as a French-y name. Haha

@@hahano8440 It's true. In his biography, he mentions that although his name has French antecedent, he prefers the pronunciation "DuBois", as you've mentioned. He wanted to set himself apart from the white community and embrace his African heritage.

Although, I don't want to discredit Debra Marshall. I love the way she explains theories.
