It's interesting how his perspective has changed. He says here that he doesn't even consider himself a writer, that he's just creating things for himself to direct. And now, he considers himself more of a writer than a filmmaker and is planning to transition fully into it
I think its just that younger filmmakers always strive to be the director, but Tarantino has found reverence over time in just writing like he's always been doing.
Fantastic interview of Tarantino in the early days. You gotta love his drive, enthusiasm and passion for movies. So refreshing to see. You can tell Bobbie blatantly has no interest though. You can see it in her face. She doesn't mention anything about the movie other than a brief, thinly veiled reference to the violence in it. 😂
She's a pro, though, and gets a great interview out of him (as you say). Obviously "Reservoir Dogs" was probably not going to be Bobbie's bag, just the dialog in the opening scene, much less the torture sequence. You're right though, when you see the second shot, where you can see her face, I don't think I've EVER seen her more stone-faced than at the beginning of the interview. I usually skip the second shot of her interviews, having just seen them in their first shot! But this one, I watched both!
@@TTM9691 Indeed. She's a pro and understandably she can't like everything. This channel is a real treasure trove of some of the greatest icons of cinema.
Tell Bobbie thanks and we love her. What an archive, what a life. Another great interview that she probably didn't think two seconds about after it was over. PS: Although I don't want you to post less of what you normally post, I equally love when you dig out older clips of her from the 60s and 70s, especially when she's talking to classic actors and directors (and musicians!) from the period. But it doesn't even have to be that, it can be some small human interest story she covered, or a commercial, or something she did even earlier, in the 50s.
nice, thanks for the upload. love to see old interviews with great artists. i wonder what QT was gonna say just as the camera cut when Bobbie asked about getting over basic shyness
I love pulp fiction but I love reservoir dogs more … do we count true romance and natural born killers still as Tarantinos ? Because they’re arguably even better
You are not alone, the same happened to me. I felt that Pulp Fiction was good, but did not meet my expectations. My precise problem with Tarantino is the expectation. I admire and love the same filmakers that inspire Tarantino, but I mostly feel that Tarantino does not understand them and goes over the top where his sources were nuanced and are considered geniuses for that.
@@conorsmith8551 Neither of those are arguably even better or anywhere close. However I don’t consider those his works other than his writing because they didn’t wholly fulfill his vision, and him and people in his inner circle can confirm that.
I consider myself to be somewhat of a movie buff.. and I tried watching Pulp Fiction 3 different times, over the course of a few months, and turned it off every single time. It reminded me of a movie that someone like Courtney Love(former wife of Kurt Kobain) would absolutely Adore. lol 😬 I did find "Inglorious Bast@rds" to be better, and at least, watchable. Once upon a time in Hollywood was watchable but mostly forgettable. I'm just not into his movies
you should really reevaluate your taste and open up a little bit. Just based on the courtney love comment alone I can tell youre not the most hip to what quentin is talking about. It wasnt meant for you and you should accept that
"It's called Pulp Fiction"... ^^ Jesus.
Yeah those moments are great. Now the favorite movie of most guys born in the 80s or so.

@@mistersharkfilms I feel like there’s a difference between not liking something and not watching something
Every blue moon a hidden gem of a old Tarantino interview comes out, thank you uploader

hasn’t changed at all!
At the beginning I thought his eyebrows were super long and bushy 😂
I maybe the only one in the world but i actually like Reservoir Dogs more than Pulp Fiction. I don't know why.....but i do.

Reservoir dogs has more naturalistic dialogue to me.

@@acetofresh1 well it’s opinion , but fair to say they became Tony Scott and Oliver stones projects rather than Tarantino
he literally has a whole universe planned at the beginning of his career, incredible, no wonder he had so much support
Back in the day when it was WBAP news 5 and now it's KXAS.
Quentin Jerome Tarantino (Knoxville, Tennessee, 27 de marzo de 1963) es un director de cine, productor, guionista, editor y actor estadounidense.
Every genius of their respective field is autistic for their craft. No exception here.
I swear this guy is a larval Guardian from Green Lantern
Basic shyness? Quentin?
I wonder if he knew she had no real interest a lot if her interviews
Andrew Garfield?
😂 😂 😂

Bit of a weird comment.
