I got an iPhone 11pro 2 years ago when I first planned to have a RUclips channel for the versatility factor. Then, I quickly saw the inconvenience of it-people texting or calling you while taking videos. Then, just this year I decided to up my video quality game and purchased my first camera, an action camera - insta360 go 2. I love it for outdoors but I realized that it has a small sensor so can’t do bokeh and that’s how I thought about getting a standard camera. I have the Canon m50 mark ii! ❤️
You DEF have to go airplane mode when shooting on your phone! But you're right and I agree with you. Glad to see you're enjoying your m50 and would love to see some links to your vids! Cheers
Great arguments to answer the title question 😎👍 Nice channel! I got the M50 about 8 months ago to improve my video quality for youtube (coming from an older samsung phone). At first I was not really impressed and wondering if a new phone would have been better. But as the filming skills improve, I really start to appreciate the M50 more and more. Perfect choice! I also found great convenience in carrying it on a PD capture clip on my backpack strap. Great to have the camera and a cheap phone, instead of carrying an expensive phone everywhere.
Thanks for another great video man! I’ve been making videos with my iPhone 11. I’ve gotten filmic pro, tripod, clamp, rode mic but I am still hating the process. Not being able to frame my shots or seeing myself has been a deal breaker for me. It is convenient being able to edit it right away on the same device. But I am slowly saving up for a Zv-1
Hey Josh, thanks for watching and you’re completely right, the iPhone sounds nice in theory, but the front facing cameras are still trash IMO. I do think it’s an awesome beginner setup for RUclips to get started, but that zv1 will definitely take you to another level for video quality! Keep grinding
I too am using filmic pro with oneplus 8 pro for sometime now. There's an app called filmic remote, if you have another phone or tablet, you can use that to remotely control the settings and frame the scene. Its pretty good. I'm making tutorial videos with that. Now I'm wondering if i should up my ante with m50 mark ii or keep using the same setup. I also clean hdmi option in filmic pro to use my feed in obs studio and instantly switch to full camera mode or screenshare mode
Hi, i'm deciding among M50 and Sony Zv-e10. I've read than sony rules when shooting in 4k, but its 1080p does not seem so good (not sharp, too soft). In your opinion that is true?
Maybe you've already bought it, but the ZV-E10 is a custom-built vlogging mirrorless camera. The video out of it is top-notch, the 4K is in fact oversampled 6K video, I don't think you can get better video at that price point from anything else. However, the ZV-E10 lacks a lot of controls, doesn't have an electronic viewfinder or an internal flash. Which means it's a beast for video, but not as versatile for photography as the M50. Personally, I went with the Lumix G100 instead. It's like the M50, a bit poorer autofocus but the video capabilities are very good while still having the EVF and internal flash to make it a very versatile and capable still shooter.
I really slammed the M50 four month ago, it is not per say the M50 just any camera in this division will smash the phone. Put an EF-S lens on the camera or something and the phone cant even deliver anything remotely equivalent. I do bird photos primarily and taking the camera out of manual is the first move to save you from grief later, maybe ignore all the jazz about fast shutter speeds you never have enough light for sharp images, maybe use f10 instead of f2 so more than just half the bird is in focus so many mistakes you can make that give you the false impression the phone is better - the camera will smash it using manual.
Need a suggestion please. Currently m holding 13 pro and planning for getting M50 m not a professional photographer just wanted to get one for occasional trips and tours. So will it be wise to get M50/200d II or 13 pro will suffice?
Although I love the iPhone, get yourself a dedicated camera. It's a completely different vibe. Really dive into editing too, it will change your world completely. I always suggest a camera in hand. There's something about computational photography on a phone that just isn't the same.
Loved it! I have the 12 pro but got the m50 last summer and was wondering if I should sell like everyone else. I was thinking the iPhone would be good for not lugging my camera on hikes but I’m not liking the iPhone camera for landscape photos I’m noticing. So I won’t be selling and I’ll go back to bringing my m50 for photos and the phone for videos on the go. 👏🏾
Thanks man for the video, could u please give me a suggestion? Should I buy go pro hero 9 black or Iphone 12 standard for vlogging? I do outdoors vlogging mainly and I rarely shoot Indoors
Hey bro, that’s tough because I don’t like vlogging on go pros unless you really push to a standard Profile instead of the super wide. I don’t think people like watching super wide angle video for long periods of time. But also, I don’t like the front facing camera of the iPhone 12. It’s good, but def could use improvement. If it were me, I’d go iPhone and use the back cameras as much as possible.
Definitely like the colors coming from the m50 more. The music u chose sucks but the video was a banger bro. The iPhone has better stabilization. Vlogging is better than the iPhone because of the flip out screen.
Haha thanks homie. You really think the music sucks? Was it annoying? I’m never sure how loud to set background music. Any other youtubers have tips? I’m usually setting to -27db throughout.
@@DominicPhillip I believe the choice of music was bad not the level. Your levels seem to be on point all the time but I just didn't like the music itself.
The thought alone of Apple producing a mirrorless camera with the computational power of their ARM chips would be fucking incredible. Apple could make a camera for the consumer market with incredible software.
Yes, I think you can do more color correction and editing in post to make the skin tones and colors look more accurate. I think the iPhone over saturates the video and images as well as makes them too sharp for my liking.
is this the new m50 markII I am a realtor doing home walkthrough videos and RUclips. Use android phone and PC user so I'm undecided if I should go for iPhone or Canon m50 mark II and do u need 4k
Hi Michael and thanks for reaching out. The only real difference between the m50 1 vs 2 is the ability to livestream and use as a webcam. If you’re doing neither of these I would highly suggest the original m50 used. In terms of 4k, I’d highly recommend it for your clients. You’ll get significantly more details throughout the video, and future proof your videos as tech advances. I’d also highly recommend a gimbal and some time to learn how to use it. That will better your real estate video quality immensely
@@DominicPhillip I was told the m50 does a lot of cropping at 4k so I should look at other options if I wanted 4 k? I wanted to start out and keep my budget with lights, microphone, etc under $1k if possible. I was also told to look at the canon refurbished SLR as an option. I don't want to overthink it in case I give up on it. I don't look great on camera.
Hey Michael, first off don’t worry about how you look on camera. Most viewers care very little about how you look or what your set looks like. The main thing people care about is the value you’re giving them. Are you making tutorials or review videos? If so, focus on how quality and accurate your videos are and I promise your audience will not care about how you look at all. Be confident and work on your delivery. Now, for your setup, you’re absolutely correct. The m50 is horrendous in 4K. It crops and has a bad autofocus system in 4K. If you need to shoot 4K, absolutely do not buy the m50 or m50 II. But do you really need 4K right now? Because 1080 is still a great option and will fit in your budget quite nicely. If you do, than I’d look at something like the zv1, or a6100/zve10 with a kit lens. Movo VXR10 mic for $40, and a newer light setup with good light diffusion. That can get you going pretty quick for under your budget. hope this helps!
@@DominicPhillip Thanks for getting back to me. My videos will start out as talking head videos and add in some footage of homes. Canon m50 mark ii vs Sony zv e10. Which is better for church online worship. Pls suggest me

It’s lacking for sure. Canon just dropped some new crop sensor bodies though. Maybe an option if they’re in your price range
Imagine the computational power of an iphone applied to the raw data from an APS-C sensor of an DLSM like a Canon M50. What a beast that will be!
🤤 I’m waiting Apple!!! Drop a camera already
