I think the biggest evidence of affection here is that Max went for the double arm hug.
Max knew perez deserve so much that hug... BEST TEAM MATE!
They knew both that without S. Perez amazing drive there would have been no chance for the victory.
True friendship is for a life.
I was thinking the same, that was a genuine bro hug
If you knew what happened without the cameras...
Perez is now permanent member of the orange army. Even in 40 years, we wont forget him. Thanks Checo! Truly awesome team play.

he is now beyond that, WDC matter because the drivers becomes legend & remembered forever, checo don't need WDC for that!
He may not have been in a position to help Max all the time during the season but he helped when it mattered the most. His defending against Lewis will be remembered forever. And let's not forget he also played a pivotal role in Baku. If it weren't for him starting from pole during the restart Hamilton wouldn't have had the pressure and wouldn't have made the mistake.
Mistake?! How DARE you. Mercedes spent a lot of time and money in making PR movies explaining it in fact was NOT a mistake. No mistake. Something else. I can’t even describe how the describe that else. Oh g dam in a river why has that Lewis need to be such a sensitive guy. For his fans I guess. How strong is real teamwork. Let’s face it. Both Mercs were actual superior the 2nd part of the season. How unbelievable good are these 2 RedBull drivers! The difference with Mercedes team is quite simple…
Both RB drivers were at the average of the season brilliant. One in being absolutely at the top of the game in defending beyond belief while the other was beyond brilliant in attacking till the glorious end.
Absolutely.
@Dacia Sandero guys Silverstone was a bit different. A very well established carmaker with 135 years of experience in making car crashed a huge drinks company 😉
@@basdebruin2355 same for Hungary
Mercedes also blamed Bottas openly for the Mexican GP, which is really bad for morale....and also screwing up his engine for the last race.
I think Perez gets more credit than he's due. I like him but he isn't that fast. And what he did in Abu Dhabi was dirty driving. You don't slow a much faster car by 7s with defensive driving alone
This shows you that teammates can be real teammates! Not just another rival.
ha! lets not pretend here, you only ever say that, when they are on a level playing field at the top team, yes, it's only a sport and rivalries are not about killing each other, competitive dislike isn't such a terrible thing to exist.
@@NightElveee Oh I’m aware of that, it’s just like all forms of sports. And in fact also when it comes to life and the people you work with. Sometimes you get along really well with others, and some that you don’t. It’s just how it was is, that’s what I’m trying to say.
Nonsense. You see a heterosexual man (checo) handling gay affection from Max.
Checo even wore a t-shirt with 33 on it (max's number) Such great teammates. I hope max repays checo this year
👍 Yes
I caught that too...33😃👏👏
I didn’t notice about it
You can see with Checo that he is such a good man and loyal that he gives everything to his family. He put himself on the line to save the people his brothers at racing point and they turfed him out. It feels like justice that he is now in a better car and the world respects and looks up to him. Even if no one ever knew his name he would still forever be a true gentleman.
I remember feeling bad last year about Checo having to leave Racing Point and probably an F1 seat, even when he had played a MAJOR role in saving his former team.
So it is GREAT to see him shine at Red Bull. What a revenge too!
This double hug almost activated their DRS.
Perez has played the ultimate team role here.
Hes the reason why mercedes had their options limited.
Checo knew what he signed up for and gave everything he had this season.
Lets not forget his carreer was pretty much saved by red bull.
If in 2022 checo has a chance at anything, max will return the favor.
I,M telling you
You are so right. Totally agree with you
He had a few bad races where he couldn't help Max but this race he showed he has the guts to put up a good clean battle for the lead

Checo is a legend, the legend said it himself
I am happy Perez stays and Gasly didn't get the seat. Perez truly deserves it. Max and Checo are a great team and I hope Perez also gets the chance to win races ! I would love to see Checo staying with RedBull as long as Max stays.
The thing with Gasly is just ridiculous. He's just a sour loser and every time he can, talks trying to get back the seat he couldn't hold on to.
@@jonyblum the faces when Gas-Man wins World championship
He could theoretically win it if he can beat Verstappen, Norris, and the young talented drivers but by then Checo won't be in Formula 1. No one said Gasly didn't have a shot but is as ridiculous trying to trash talk someone who currently has the seat he lost, as if Perez would be doing the same to whoever occupied the McLaren seat after him. Just deal with the lost opportunity and move on by working and not talking against others
@@jonyblum Yup especially he is still under RB system. Now I think he got dropped mid-season might not only because of his poor performance, but also pissed off the wrong people maybe...
Gasket has improved extensively. Does he deserve a better seat, yes. Is that team rb merc or ferrari, probably not but a drive at McLaren would be more suited he still has a long way to go. Look forward to seeing Alex back next year though it’s a shame he couldn’t keep up
Take my award for least toxic teammates of the year
It is impressive how Checo, when from not having a driver sit in December 2020 to help Max to win a 2021 championship, during the whole season, Checo will hold my Tequila.

its a bit sad how unlucky Perez was near the end of the season where he was performing at his best, lost like 2 podiums to vsc, had a crash he couldnt do much to avoid and had to retire last race to make sure he would create problems for max, id agree that Bottas has been unlucky too but near the end of the season Perez was driving way better and was at the front more times
True that.
An amazing stat everyone's missed out on is that Pérez could've had a 9 podium streak on pure pace starting from Monza GP till the end of the season. But luck wasn't on his side.
Checo have an irregular start of the previous season, but improved middle and last part of the season, he do more points than gasly and finished on top of gasly in the overall, what i'll dont get it is thang gasly is still talking and talking than he deserves the spot than checo is ocupying, than even rosberg is pressuring for putting gasly in checo's place, he should validate his claims being on top of checo overall, am guessing than french sponsors are doing their part for backing gasly for replace perez in favor of him, am hope than checo blast gasly again in 2022 for redbull simple ignore him. even Tsunoda is more respectfull in that regard.
@@taerkasten5090 I get thatt Gasly wanted to become WC, but he whines too much about red bull demoting him. I think he should know by now that he simply wasn't good enough for that seat, Checo is. Checo es un ser humilde y noble, con altos valores humanos. Muy raro de ver en ambitos como el de la F1, pero esa calidez humana puede derretir ciertos corazones feroces como el de Max. A real team partner. This year Mercedes was really put to the test, someone pushed them like never before and Hamilton, the engineers and Bottas as teammate were not up to the task.
bit of a harsh comment, they were all literally equal to the task; they just didn't factor in the rules being changed on the last lap of the season. Just unlucky. Don't get me wrong, Max 100% deserved it as he has been amazing all season, but so has Lewis so it just came down to a bit of luck at the end, that's all that separated them both. Checo was a much better team mate to Max than Bottas was to Lewis; Abu Dhabi wasn't the only race where Checo held Lewis up to advantage Max. Fantastic defensive driving and good team tactics to focus on one car but it did cost them the constructors championship so maybe next year RB will change tactics, but then as Christian himself said before the race, no one remember the constructors champion each year, they only remember the driver so I guess from a marketing point of view this is RB's main focus each year, the constructors is just a bonus.

Amazing team mate. His defense made me so excited, game me the "Now this is Pod racing!" feeling
On Dutch TV, Max was constantly criticizing Checo. But after the last race, he is eternally grateful to the cheerful Mexican
It's not like he had nothing to criticize him about, it wasn't as if Checo performed up to standards throughout the season. But when did Max do that? I can't remember him giving many interviews on tv.
Checo is a legend.
Don't forget that Perez is a racer and as a racer you want to win, not play a supporting role. So it must also be recognized that it's not at all easy to have to be the one supporting in stead of winning. It goes against the way of a racer.
Having said all of that, he's undoubtably mature enough to handle the situation. But emotions will always be emotions. Happy as he is that Verstappen won the championship over Hamilton, in the back of the head he's still a racer.
Checo is one of my favorite drivers on the grid. I’m a Netflix inspired fan and seeing Checo in the 2019 season it was clear how wholesome and genuine he was. Then Racing Point/Aston Martin/Lance Stroll’s daddy cut Checo and he was lookin like he wouldn’t have a seat despite outperforming his teammate. Coming to Red Bull and performing the way he did was such a great turn of events for such a good guy. Checo is a legend
As Fernando Alonso said: Karma
Look at how Aston perform this year (mainly due to major floor area regulation change for the car this year but compare to 2020 this year was a bit too far off). I wish Checo will have a chance running for WDC even just one season.

All superstars and champs have that one pivotal moment that boosts them into the history books. For Max his first championship was a sure (obvious) catalyst coming at the perfect time of his career - not too early not too late.
And Checo will be cemented in history for his massive and undeniable contribution to what surely will be a fantastic overall career for Max.
I know it doesn't work that way, but I hope RedBull will now give Checo a go at the World Championship... Just one season, and then we get back to SuperMax. It will definitely inspire them both to win the Constructor's.
That will be in his own hands, if he beats Verstappen on points he can be. Although new cars new rules who knows which team or teams comes out on top this year.
