  • Son of one of the greatest explorers of all time, Dr. Thor Heyerdahl Jr. was a marine biologist from southern Norway. In 1947, when he was nine years old, his father sailed nearly 5,000 miles across the Pacific on a wooden raft called the Kon-Tiki and was launched to worldwide fame. Dr. Heyerdahl Jr. was close to his father and journeyed with him on an expedition to Easter Island during the 1950s.
