This phone has a small demographic, but a super loyal one. When I showed my dad he got very excited. Perfect phone for him, hes always loved his physical keyboard. Well done blackberry!!!
I genuinely love the way the KeyOne looks. It's not as sleek and futuristic as an S8 or a G6 perhaps, but it just looks so elegantly classy, very businessy and corporate-looking if that makes sense, like something that'll go well with a suit and tie ^^

I don't like swype, never did. the BlackBerry vkb is great and the pkb is just as good. I have a priv currently and probably will for quite a bit longer but the priv has also made me unafraid of a pkb. for what I do wit my phone, I could see me moving to a keyone simply because I actually am comfortable with either type of keyboard and that battery life. I don't spend hours gaming or watching Netflix on my phone so this phone is perfect for me. I also really like the BlackBerry software and shortcuts
I would never buy this phone but must say... In a world and time where and when we just got so used to apply the word smartphone.... this one is actually one of the best definitions of smartphone....

Agreed, I have a 5 inch phone with a 720p screen and I couldn't be happier in the screen department. And I'm coming from a 5 inch 1080p screen on my old Galaxy S4.

Not gonna lie, this phone looks super fucking dope. If I was looking to buy a new phone it'd definitely be a top contender. All those keyboard gestures and features just look so neat, and I kinda miss having a physical keyboard, although at this point I'm so used to typing on touch that I'm not sure how it'd actually feel in my hand/if I'm still as good a typer with it as I were back in the day.

Woah... I just spent 7 minutes considering buying a blackberry in 2017... Wow. But seriously, this thing is awesome! Now just make a model of the same phone with a slide out keypad and I'd buy it in a heart beat. The only thing about this phone that turns me off is that awkward square resolution. Make it a proper 16:9 and I'm fully on board.
I totally agree, by using the slider they can avoid the aspect ratio failure. The keyboard is taking up too much screen space. They should have karat the full screen design with the sliding keyboard and I would buy that phone.
Wanooknox they did that with priv and nobody bought it. and slide out keyboard would mean no shortcuts.
Why no shortcuts? slide open, button, slide closed. The Priv had other aspects that made it not sell well, but I think the biggest thing was the target audience. They put out a flagship phone at a time where they just didn't have the name sway necessary. This is clearly a mid tier phone, with its 600 series chipset, 1080p display, etc. They can price this thing in a bracket below the enthusiasts.
Even though I would like to see that happening but I think this would result in the phone being too thick.
Raja Raza Totally valid and understandable argument, but that's why I said I would buy it, because that wouldn't really matter to me so much. I usually wear pants with decent pocket space so it wouldn't be a hassle for me. And honestly though I getting really annoyed with how thin things are becoming, just makes the phone so fragile, I kind of want a nice built phone with a little bit of weight in it which can also improve the specs.
if you can believe .. I know a person that has been loyal to BlackBerry for the last 10 years .. for that person this phone is a dream come true ..
If Blackberry had gone Android a few years ago they'd probably still be a major player. Regardless, looks like some pretty compelling ideas. Kudos to them

Also that the keyboard scroll in landscape is clutch, and that the swipe to auto-complete works in-line for each potential word. There are many small details that they really nailed here - I can't wait to get this phone to find more.

Why is not having wireless charging such a huge con? like for most consumers, the included cable is good enough. The fact that I have to invest even more money into a wireless pad thing is stupid. If that came included, then that's another story.

wireless charging is super convenient. there are no connectors to fiddle with or wear out ( less of an issue with usb c)
epakai I understand that it's convenient (looks like something from the future). But it's not a big enough con that reviewers should make a big deal out of it. Most consumers don't really care about it, or want to fork the extra cash to buy a charging pad. Reviewers are quick to say it's a pro to have wireless charging built in, but fail to mention that it's gonna cost you to actually use it.
Leonardo Velasco it is good for being able to go to a cafe like Starbucks and not have to fiddle around on the floor looking for a place to charge. But even then Starbucks has dongles that make the functionality available on most phones. Until it's a wider adoption of having a few stations in the home or being able to charge without having to leave your phone in one place seems like when it'll take off

Build quality just a B+? I've held that phone in my hands and it's one of the best feeling phones I've ever held. Just because it doesn't have wireless charging or isn't waterproof doesn't mean it has "lesser" build quality. For a phone like this, you don't need waterproofing, and wireless charging is mostly a gimmick at this stage.

Wireless charging is pretty convenient and it saves wear and tear on your charging port. I'd say it should be pushed to the standard pretty soon.

I'm actually really impressed with this phone. I love that they put the keyboard there and then completely squeezed out as much functionality from it as possible. Using it to scroll? Awesome. Fingerprint reader on the space bar? Awesome. Having each button be a quick launch for not one, but two apps? Brilliant. I have to say, this would be something that I would honestly consider getting. Especially for the price.

I txt above that battery life is important and not un-important. Hence it more critical to have a charged phone rather than how nice the screen is with a poor battery performance.

You applauded OP3 implementation of 1080p screen @ 5.5" Display for battery saving feature and concluded that it doesn't much of a difference with 2K display. Yet you criticised KEYone for 1080p screen even though it makes more sense because it's display size is @ 4.5" at which 1440p Display wouldn't make sense and the SoC is also a little weaker compared to OP3+'s one.

As someone who had a blackberry as her first phone, I'm really digging this design. I'm too invested in my iPhone and Apple ecosystem to do the switch, but honestly hoping for the best for BlackBerry with this new release

Apple's regular iPhone isn't even 1080p. So much for the "retina" experience. I guess they are saving for a higher resolution display for the iPhone 8, just so everyone buys it again. They do this all the time, adding one great feature per year.

What's good, is it has a 12 MP camera (which unfortunately you didnt show, thats better then the Iphone 5s and the same as an iphone 6 and 6 plus). It also had 2TB of storage to have too. (32gb and 64gb versions, but you can add a micro SD card for 2TB+)

I definitely want to give it a good. I'm a BlackBerry user from the old days but like everyone else dropped it years ago. What I miss most is all of the keyboard shortcuts. Typing and working on a BlackBerry just feels efficient in a way that Android and iOS devices have never quite matched.

I'm also not in the demographic. I consume a lot of media and the screen size and resolution isn't right for me. But as far as a physical keyboard phone they did an awesome job making it useful. The shortcuts are awesome, keyboard scroll, standard keyboard shortcuts, finger print in the space bar, etc. They made it as advanced as they could it seems. Cool phone, not for me
I ordered this ...and today is 2019 ...
Just the 52 keyboard shortcuts alone sold me on this phone. Ultra convenient and immediately makes the KEYone the fastest phone at getting where you need to be. Not to mention the finger print scanner is on par or even faster than any other phone. Even though it has a slower processor I'm okay with that because it makes the battery last longer and it's not a phone meant for gaming anyways. A Blackberry is and was always meant to be a tool for the workplace, and they seriously nailed it with this phone. It's the ultimate business phone and the most customizable phone out there. Good job Blackberry. (Also those that are saying they should do a PRIV style phone like this are dumb as it would render the shortcuts useless because having to slide the keyboard out would cancel out the time saved by the shortcuts.... so it wouldn't be a shortcut anymore, or at least as much of a shortcut.)
