  • This Sunday was the first day of the year that the Whippany Railway Museum would be running their caboose excursions, so I figured I would go out to see it. Today, the train only did three runs instead of the usual four, with the last train departing the museum at 3PM. I was able to see the 2PM train passing the new Troy Hills Road Transload Facility, which was occupied by a bulkhead flatcar carrying several loads of new ties. I was then able to catch the 3PM train at Algonquin Parkway, Merry Lane, Deforest Avenue, and the museum. Morristown & Erie C-424 19 was in charge.
After the last train of the day pulled back into the museum, I hung around to see 19 putting the cabooses and the Jersey Coast back into the yard. Once that was done, I relocated to Eden Lane to see 19 running back to Morristown. What I didn't know until I had already left the museum was that 19 would be shoving a coach from the museum to a siding just east of South Jefferson Road. I didn't see the coach until I looked into the museum's yard while driving west on Route 10, so I was unable to see this move or identify what type of coach it was. Additionally, Maine Eastern FL9s 489 and 488 are still sitting at the South Jefferson Road Transload Facility with GP9 100.
