I rarely throw the phrase "ult" into the ring when I'm talking about kpop, but they really are that for me. They were the first group that had me going on Wikipedia deep dives and discography marathons before I even followed kpop closely. Their style and music deeply resonated with me growing up and their story was such a wild ride I'm so glad youtubers are giving them the spotlight they deserve!
Dang this is so dope they went hard and they encompassed the 90’s look so well I definitely would have been a Stan if I knew them back then. It looks like they got style from TLC and other old school R&B groups
Baby VOX got me into Kpop in the early 00's when access to Kpop outside of Korea was not easy. They were at the forefront of the 1st Hallyu Wave, they were ahead of their time but unfortunately have not received the credits they deserved. Thank you for featuring Baby VOX in your recent videos.
I was a fan of baby vox but back then there was nonexistent kpop news so I knew nothing of their turbulent beginnings and all their scary anti fans. Kpop scene seemed even more hectic and crazy back then. Baby vox music and style still nostalgic to me.

I absolutely love this video. Baby Vox honestly seemed like a great group and like you said we're far ahead of their time. I'll go check out some of Baby Vox's music because I adore that 90s kpop sound that Baby Vox has!
I'm from Indonesia. Thank you very much for such in-depth & detailed video on Baby V.O.X. As part of the 90's K-POP music scene listener myself, this video not only brings nostalgia, but more importantly so many valuable information that I've never known before, on the legendary girl group Baby V.O.X. Even until today, I still sometimes listen to their 'old' songs/music, and also watch their music videos as well. I really miss those days... Thank you so much again for making such excellent video!
Another girl group nobody really talks about is Brown Eyed Girls! I grew up on them as well and people didn't like the maturity of their music videos and such!
I can't explain how much I love your long videos, especially the ones that you have been putting out recently about all these initial, iconic acts! Coming home from a long day and seeing that you posted a 40min+ video makes my day so much better :) Thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos, they must take you a long time to put together, but it's always worth it in the end and your work is very much appreciated! Did RUclips recommend this to me because I started looking for them on Spotify after all these years? Maybe! Either way, I thank you for this! Baby V.O.X. was absolutely my favorite female group back then. I loved S.E.S, too, but Baby VOX absolutely had my heart. I remember being in fan forums at the time, way before K-Pop even remotely became an international phenomenon. (I honestly still cannot believe it actually did lol). But even though I was a fan back then, I have to admit, I didn't know all the details you provided here! There was no youtube yet and connecting to the Internet still made a very loud noise. I wish we as international fans had had the ability to interfere with the public bullying at least a little. I feel horrible finding out about all of the hardships right now. Thank you so much for this!!
This kind of coverage reminds me of my hay-days. It wasn't ostracized in my experience but definitely weird for a black girl in Detroit to be listening to SM and YG artists. I never really paid attention to these girls or F.I.N.K.L. and with SM town songs it was the same for SES. But I still love the time period musically.
i think i was in 3rd grade, i had a few songs on my phone and a couple of videos. the internet wasn’t big yet and my phone had only 500mb i think so that’s all i had. one of the videos i had was the mv for coincidence. i remember watching it so many times and being mesmerised by their beauty and talent. the video was untitled so i never learned about them til way later when i was already deep into kpop. i guess in a way baby vox were my first experience with kpop💖
such an interesting video! can't even imagine how long it must've took to gather all this information and put it together in a video. Also i can't help but wonder how would they do if they were to debut today; there's a variety of really interesting girl groups around but very rarely we see girl groups performing songs that talk about school bullying or women's expectations in society (other than the "i'll do whatever i want" trope), also there's little no none hiphop based girlgroups in kpop today, it would be very refreshening to see some of that energy in a 4th gen group
Just watched the video and you really go in-depth with Baby VOX. 51 minutes in length, sheesh! You had some stuff that only Koreans would know (or you had to dig up from Korean newspapers, blogs, magazines, etc.) The video brought me back to the old-school K-pop that I grew up with. Awesome job in talking about one of the iconic 1st gen groups. Really appreciated the hard work on this video.

Loved this. It's so good and detailed. I wish they had continued with their original concept and also I wish they had gone ahead even after their final comeback. Maybe they'd have resurfaced. DR needs to let Baby Vox and Rania go. They need to do something new. I like that the CEO was determined to create something new too but he forgot about it. Maybe they should try boy groups.

Banning because of dyed hair? I can understand controversial lyrics or too sexy choreos, it was those times, but Dyed hair is weird... It honestly is weird.
Having in mind that years ago in korea teenagers with bleached hair were always the trouble kids or bullies, it was prob kinda similar but new back then so it makes sense that they saw it as a bad example for teenagers that were their main public
From what I know, it was forbidden to have colored hair or wavy hair on schools too, that could be related, you have to see the full context at that time in that place

Oh WOW!!! To see the name Baby Vox on a modern RUclips video blows my mind. I got into K-pop in 2000 when I was a sophomore in Highschool. There were two girls from Korea who had transferred in and didn’t speak much English. I was a total weebs and had a photo of Yoshiki (drummer of X Japan) picture on my class folder, and one of the girls recognized it. We then traded CDs to listen to (I gave them some VK, they gave me K-pop). I ended up loving HOT, Baby Vox, Shinhwa, and EVE. Thanks for making this video!!
@@nekorei2023 English is her main language is more what I was meaning. The others it's Korean, but Yumi Korean is different to theirs. Tasha Reid's English has a non Korean accent and instead a type of American accent. It's cool that K-pop has this going for it.

@@oliviafrommars EZ's rap verse just SLAPS SO HARDDD wow really I can't see anyone in 1st gen pull it off (except maybe Tashannie or Chae Rina but the vibe would be different)
COINCIDENCE >>>>>
@@shruthakeerthi4559 I love watching Kim EZ on stage! She always has a smile on her face!
This is crazy.. like to think that one of the girls were almost KIDNAPPED, kan mi youn had people sending her RAZOR BLADES and a DEAD CAR?? over a dating rumor is just sad
I'll be 30 next month and I still look 20 so I'm not surprised that she managed to get away with it for that long
Baby VOX is so memorable to me that their song (Coincidence) is still part of my playlist. They have a distinct sound/style and one of the first groups that I listened to when I'm exploring KPop via Audition SEA Online and RUclips. Also, I'm so happy that they are able to return still as Baby VOX whenever they do guest performances. On a side note, Baby VOX Rev actually has good vocals and songs too.
they’re my favorite 1st gen group ! go check out “Doll” and “get up” if you haven’t ! Members Lee Heejin and Kan Miyoun still appear on variety shows, even together sometimes
Im Irish and 39 years old and I still love hearing Baby V.O.X. Their the original Blackpink without the audio
production and video production we have now. They would have killed it with the technology we have now. They are still awesome for 1996 pop music. One of the best, for their time.
Blackpink is just a prettier copycat of 2ne1. Their voices are annoying.
😂😂😂 BP ni siquiera tienen talento, son insta models y RUclipsrs, pero ni un gramo de talento para cantar en vivo BP está muy muy sobrevalorado, son populares si pero eso no las hace buenas, son basura.
@@hanhbui2212 That just sounds rude tbh, u don't need to like them
Yes I got into baby vox and boa 20 years ago.
Baby V.O.X was my introduction to K-pop~ they hold a special place in my heart ;-;
Still jam out to all of their albums
Dang this is so dope they went hard and they encompassed the 90’s look so well I definitely would have been a Stan if I knew them back then. It looks like they got style from TLC and other old school R&B groups
Some would say they “copied”, but I would say they introduced a new flavor to the K-pop scene.
Yesss! Baby V.O.X.! They're getting the recognition they never got, finally 😭
I know! Even if is too late they really deserve it🌷🌷🌷
IKR🥲
Shim EunJin's solo album Zeenys is absolutely incredible. Sad that it didn't do well, but I highly recommend everybody check it out. She coulda had a great career as a solo singer.
TBH I think baby vox was the first girl group that brought fashion to kpop
This poor group went through hell back in the day I heard.
Baby VOX is one of the reasons I started listening to K-Pop back in 1999-2000. I still listen to them today.
As a first gen kpopper, they were my very first girl pop crush!!! I loved YEH so so much when she joined!! Thank you so much for making this!!!
absolutely loved the video 🥳 it’s crazy to look back on how they changed KPOP and pushed boundaries! Also loved the longer video, so much fun to watch 😭 and thank you for mentioning my video. I really appreciate it ❤️
hi jihoon carat
DR Music can't let go of Baby V.O.X to this day. They won't even give us a b-side just a remix of a Baby V.O.X song xd
they are my favorite 1st gen gg, it's so sad to see people forget them
honestly LOOOVVEEDDD their western hip hop outfits and all their hairstyles like ??? since it's coming back into style i wish current idols could do it even just once
You should do a video about CocoSori or just any Kpop group/duos that broke up due to favoritism of their agency or major conflicts among the members. It would be interesting to see how favoritism and treatment among members can affect a Kpop group.
I learned about the one with S#arp. Their story was like straight out of a kdrama, lol.
@@mhail7874 Yeah poor Ji-hye she didn't deserve thaat
huge respect to 1st gen idol girl groups for striving and surviving then became huge during the time when men were conquering the industry.
I absolutely love this video. Baby Vox honestly seemed like a great group and like you said we're far ahead of their time. I'll go check out some of Baby Vox's music because I adore that 90s kpop sound that Baby Vox has!
Wow did not expect to see this video! Baby VOX was my favorite group back then, them and SES. Killer was MY JAM!!!
The hairstyles 😆 I do like how 2000s looked in fashion.
Keep up the good work and looking forward to your future video essays
Thank you for this video. I am a baby vox fan since their last final formation ever. Kan miyoun was my 1st kpop waifu ever.
Wow the girls went through so much I respect them even more. Thank you for making this !
i think i was in 3rd grade, i had a few songs on my phone and a couple of videos. the internet wasn’t big yet and my phone had only 500mb i think so that’s all i had. one of the videos i had was the mv for coincidence. i remember watching it so many times and being mesmerised by their beauty and talent. the video was untitled so i never learned about them til way later when i was already deep into kpop. i guess in a way baby vox were my first experience with kpop💖
I've never forgotten them. One of the best of 1997.
its interesting to learn about the BabyVox 1st album days. there's videos of Kan Miyoun doing the first album songs, which felt surreal.
Some songsare in English as Yumi Cha is from America so waiting is in full English.
they had one of the best debuts ever. try to change my mind
I always thought of them as one of the big 3 of the gen 1 girl groups along side S.E.S. and Fin.K.L.
i found it so iconic that they have collabs with 2pac and JLo
BABY V.O.X. was so ahead of their time
Baby Vox
on Gen 1
now in Gen 4
Baby Monster
Baby Vox Chance song/MV
one of my 1st known KPOP song
when I was a
KPOP newbie on 2006
I love baby vox wish I was there when they where still active please continue to make more baby vox content
In 2004 my father bought me Baby Vox Album Why, and i like songs until now.
such an interesting video! can't even imagine how long it must've took to gather all this information and put it together in a video.
I've always loved Enhye and was looking for some deep dive video to understand her music career. Great job making this, thank you!!
DR Music has always the best ideas and potential, and they ALWAYS mess it up. It's a case worth of study
Just watched the video and you really go in-depth with Baby VOX. 51 minutes in length, sheesh! You had some stuff that only Koreans would know (or you had to dig up from Korean newspapers, blogs, magazines, etc.)
The video brought me back to the old-school K-pop that I grew up with. Awesome job in talking about one of the iconic 1st gen groups.
Really appreciated the hard work on this video.
They really do have really clear and beautiful voices!! Talent!!
Thank you so much for this Baby Vox was my very first k-pop group I got into back in the day. I really loved all their music and they were way ahead of their time. I still rock all of their music to this day.
First heard about Baby Vox when "Princess Hours" was first aired here in the Philippines, checking the cast members' wiki 😅
The fact it took SM ages to silence the rumours glad to see they haven’t got much more competent
Interesting stuff. I was more into Fin.K.L so I didn't really know much about Baby VOX but I did like their sound. I still listen to Game Over to this day.
A very well researched video about the greatest Korean Girl group of all times. I hope you do one on Chakra as well.
I'm getting into them right now, so it's great to have a video like that to understand the group better. I honestly think that you're like my favorite kpop youtube channel, thank you for the amazing content!
LEGENDS and I don't care what anyone else says. If you ever watch and listen to ALL their SINGLES with MVs.. Good luck, it's a great rabbit hole to be trapped in.:)
I am obsessed with their discography lately
I forgot yoon eun hye started out in a girl group before becoming a big actress
I feel old that I remember them haha. Thank you so much for this! I never knew how deep it went
Thanks for bringing attention to their legacy! I don’t know much about the group, but I found them on Spotify and have a couple songs saved, so it’s cool to see someone finally talk about them
I love Baby Vox. Thank you for putting this video together! I didn't know about all these issues.
Thank you, Midnight for doing your recent videos on the Important First Gen of K-Pop
I've been learning new history of the music genre I love because of you 🇰🇷🇺🇲😊✌️
My first and absolute favorite Korean girl band since 2000 ♡
Props to you for doing all this research, seriously this is such a detailed video
I LOVE BABY VOX!!! thanks for making videos to the new kpop fans get into them, also THANKS to give correct information on LeeGai/Heejung/Jisoo Case, DREnt well knows about her age so, she was forced to lie sadly.
thank you so much for the video!!
This channel is very informative
I really like the way you made a research about DR music and its artists.
I really love baby vox and their songs
Dang I didn't realize they had all these member changes. I watched so many of their videos pop up on the Korean music video channel back in the day I thought they were the IT group.
Baby V.O.X. originally also had one American singer in the original Group. Yumi Cha is not from south Korea.
@@yuisure6755 No she is, shes half
@@nekorei2023 English is her main language is more what I was meaning. The others it's Korean, but Yumi Korean is different to theirs. Her English is spot on with her singing, and her voice is stronger in English than her singing Korean. Tasha Reid and Amy Lee the singer known as Ailee are other examples of Singer born in America. Tasha Reid's English has a non Korean accent and instead a type of American accent. It's cool that K-pop has this going for it.
This is so great! I learned about Baby VOX because of YEH and I immediately fell in love with their music. Thanks for this vid! Hopefully you can also have a feature story about YEH 🙂🤞
thank you for doing a video on BABY VOX. they’re so so underrated
As much I like the wildness and funky concept and attitude of 2nd and 1st gen grp, I do feel that these 2 generation had the most rough fan experience.
You can tell you put in a lot of work for this video. I only know Coincidence from them, but I really like them. Thank you for the video.
Thank you so much for another Baby V.O.X video! There is so much stuff I didn't know about... I hope you can continue with a 1st gen series, it would be so interesting!
plz finkl and baby vox dominating my spotify recently
AS IT SHOULD
Your videos are so well researched & organized & your channel is a staple in the kpop community. Thank you for doing what you do. Without you I feel like so many of today’s kpop fans would have no idea about the world of kpop before Twice & BTS 💜
This means so much, thank you 💜
As much as despise DR for all of their mismanagement, I always follow their groups because they are always so unique and often push the bar of what a kpop group can be. You can tell despite the messy management, there is a strange passion you can see in the groups production.
My god! I almost forgot about them! Babyvox! Used to listen to them in high school. Man good old days
hopefully your videos puts some spotlight back on baby vox! also it's hard to find eng translations so thank you for putting the stories in here!
Some things remind me of Mamamoo. Coming from a small company, singing about women empowerment and breakups, living in rooftops and not having enough money to buy food/eat. Also Moonbyul is friends with Miyeon.
