- I knew we'd see some quality scrap metal from that worksite! Didn't take too long and we were called back to haul away a significant pile from that new development, and it sure was a good one! Didn't take all day so we headed out to do some dumpster diving right after, managed to come home with a decent pile of goodies.
Wire stripper I use: amzn.to/3jrO2iS
The motorized stripper: amzn.to/3y0JMuQ
The wire cutters I like: amzn.to/2T6j3OW
This is the cheaper version: amzn.to/2SwrYsB
And here are those grips I recommend: amzn.to/2QCJmYl

It isn’t an expiration date but the best by date.
Food digs!!! My favorite videos
I had a nice time, I’ll probably do more of this while it’s cold!
$ 164 total. Nice! I didn't know rebar was that valuable. Today I learned.
All that rebar could have been easily reused in my line of work. Smaller pieces are heavily used in reinforcing pilaster footings, and then the leftover, shorter pieces for grade stakes. Wish I had a hookup through was just tossing their scrap construction material.
I was thinking the same, seems like a lot of those pieces would’ve been valuable to somebody. I didn’t want to have to store it until they called though
Great video ! Don’t forget to replace your burnt out headlight 7:57 keep it up the great work
Amazing amount of scrap steel you were able to pick up.
It adds up fast sometimes!
I always enjoy .Thanks
I've eaten yogurt over a month out of code if it was in the back of my fridge. No problem. As long it's sealed and kept cold it's fine. Expired meat would give me pause too, but what looked like cottage cheese would have come home. It makes a good ricotta substitute in a pinch. And all that copper... free money in the trash! Gotta love it!
Free breakfast for a week sounds great to me! Yoghurt is easy mode for sure, if it’s not moldy it’s fine. Even sour is just a preference thing, it won’t hurt you. I probably would’ve considered the chicken if it was colder out! Those tubs were just low fat sour cream, which certainly would’ve been fine but I wasn’t sure what I would want it for
That BX Cable had me salivating; don't know why but the copper price is high and there is a lot of it out there. Have a great weekend.
I was surprised to see it tbh! Most of the construction bins I’ve checked recently look like the workers are either being yelled at for wasting any or just taking it home themselves
Another thing to look out for Is pots and pans because sometimes there made of special metals
Hi from St John's Newfoundland and Labrador.
Hello from Calgary!
saw exactly where the work smarter kicked in on that grinding disk montage!
I was hoping it would still be clear! Once I got going it didn’t take too long after all, but doing half as many cuts was a big part of it 😎
another fine fine day for scraping at YYC
Thank you for another 20 minutes of FREE entertainment
That was a good call back. Banana (mmmm) sounds tasty. 😋
The rebar gave you a good workout !
It was a bit sweaty! Didn’t realize that stuff could weigh so much
awesome...!!!
Loved the video
Awesome, some more dumpster diving, nothing to complain about here 👍👍👍😃
That was different ,good finds
With the temps you guys get over there, most food would keep indefinitely sitting outside in dumpsters I guess. For us in an Australian summer, that's a hard concept to grasp! 😜🤣
I need to find my juicer, I could totally make good use of the produce! I’m not crazy about dumpster food in the hot summer but you’re right, right now it’s basically all refrigerated.
I'm in US, but on the southeast coast, and snow doesn't exist here either
That blue dumpster and looks like a gold mine
I was pretty hyped on it! Didn’t want to spend the time picking out all the thin tin though, but I bet there’s more wire buried in there
Saving the yoghurt was cool this time of the year in Canada. Never in Australia unless you just saw them put in there.
Yoghurt is pretty safe at any temperature tbh, but it would be a lot less appealing in sweltering heat haha
Get that wood homie!!! It goes for a lot of money now.
That may be a good idea actually.. I could sell it super cheap and still make some easy money
Great video Thub , as always hi to Wub too .
The brown plastic case by the film reel was a case for film reels.
Nice finds! Those paint buckets are legit steel, as long as the paint has dried in them.
that rebar was nice, made your day, as i always say, even when it doesn't look good, all you need is that one good score.
Thanks for watching! Merch available here! - thubstore.com/
i like it when u get a nice load of steel that you dont have to share with the person who gave it to you-- and i suspect u feel the same.
I sure do!
Hi I'm Cody and I also love trash and I have no self control lol Trash scavenging is life 👍
😂🤣 idk what it is, trash is great!
The boss back in action !
I’m glad to see that my suggestion for the carage bolts are holding up with ur bk rack u made oh so many months ago
They’ve been working great, and they look real nice too!
@@thubprint glad to hear that thumb
i gasped when the camera hit the rebar pile haha, thats a great haul!
I was definitely excited about it 😁
Pretty much the best type of scrap steel I can think of! High density bite sized pieces in a huge pile. Beautiful 👌
The ever curious scrapper...I like your style man......
Thank you!
Great video
And don't forget ruffles has ridges. I wish I could get my hustle on. I have a bad case of covid being asthmatic doesn't help.
I’m sorry to hear that bud, hope you feel much better soon! 💙
@@thubprint I'll be 100% by Friday. Please anyone that reads this get your covid shots and booster shots if u haven't. Covid would have taken my life if I wasn't up to date on shots.
😎 keep grinding.
Well done
Love your attitude too scrapping. Well done. Thanks for another great video. 💙
Good video my man!!
Keep doing the thing! 🔥🔥🔥
😁
Hey man just a heads up. You can cut steel studs with just a pair of snips. It’s a lot faster and it will save you money on cutting wheels. Good luck bro
I'll be sending you a care package soon, Love the channel i look forward to every post!!!
Thanks so much Mike! Certainly you don’t need to do that, but mail is always fun and I very much appreciate your kindness! 💙
Great finds buddy
Wow, what a load of rebar! Great haul.
Enjoy your videos. Good scrap pile of metal!
Figured the next load at that build site would be Good.
And you were not wrong!
When I was a kid, never did I dream that the Sesame Street character I would emulate most would be Oscar. He is the ultimate reused/recycler! And I have been known to be occasionally grouchy 😬
😆
Nice finds!
Great finds
Nice they hooked you up good this time. awesome. i woulda took the chips over the yogurt lmao. happy hunting Thub
They were low sodium plain! Though I could’ve breaded some chicken or fish with them I suppose
Milk krates come in handy
you should invest in a concrete saw and put a good cutting disc on it and you would be able to scrap any wheel with tires on it and be able to cut thorough thick steel quick.Thats what im thinking of doing so i can just pull up on stuff cut it up quick and go on my way.Anyways awesome vid like always keep up the scraping.$$$$$
Killing it as always, fyi, I received my shirt from your store, great quality, perfect shipping and love it! Keep doing the thing
Keep doing the thing!
Thanks for the order Justin! I didn’t see which one you got, but I’m glad you’re happy with it 😊 hopefully I can stay with the same supplier but time will tell 👍
Oh goodie! I was so happy to see you gather up the helium strapping again, even though it's barely worth it monetarily. I hope you went back and cleaned out the food dumpster, too, once you were out of sight of the naysayers. The thing about dumpster food is - if it's not bad, it's not bad. Pretty easy to tell. Nearly all food borne illness is caused by people with poor hygiene mishandling it. That packaged stuff is virtually always safe. Nice vid, Thub!
The good thing about food in his area is the cold freezing weather can make it live longer even if it's expired just have to be sealed good enough.
Glad to hear you have trust in my dumpster food evaluation skills! 😉
Honestly the chicken would be pretty easy to tell too, but it wasn’t very cold on that afternoon so I didn’t feel the need. Looking forward to going back there when it’s cold though!
I'd throw the chicken to the sea gulls, ravens, & magpies to keep maggots & smell out of the bin. They'll eat anything.
move your truck to the scrap work clever not harder buddy keep on scrapping lee from england
Great vid. Dude, it doesn't matter what you find I love the exploring and commentary. Keep scavenging.
Thanks! Will do 👍😁
i work on site and take away metal myself instead of throwing it in the skip, i get paid enough but its a nearly free takeaway on the weekend, i'm not sure why other people on site don't do it but i suppose it gives others an income too
Nice! I totally understand why many people don’t bother, it’s the same as bottles and cans I think. If someone has a full time job that pays them okay they probably want to spend weekends doing something other than working. I’m not one to pass up a good pile of scrap though!
☺
Be careful out there!... It's when you're hopping in & out of a dumpster for a dozen soda cans when you're most likely to break a leg!
I love that reel... it would bring out the steampunk in just about anyone! Great video, PEACE-OUT!
NEW JERSEY - USA
My first thought about the yogurt in the dumpster: But it's not been in the fridge! You have to keep it cold! (Wait: I'm in California, you're in Canada. Well duh!) :)
😆👍
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BUY A ELECTRIC WIRE STRIPPER, I WANNA SEE ALL THOSE WIRES STRIPPED HAHAHAHA
I’ve got a video coming real soon that should scratch that itch 😎
baler,shear,shredder for scrap metal
Dude, the near 1600 pounds made me cream my jeans, but the final 3/4 of the video is what I, and I hope others, like to see.
I feel that! I love going out and picking up good weight but the adventure is the fun part, win or lose 👍
@@thubprint You say that, but waiting 15 minutes for a spot to clear out so I can check it out and coming up empty is never fun! And yes, I have to work different from you... 1) I go at night and 2) I am in a bit sketchier area so not only am I armed, but I am keenly aware of that fact. Yep, 'MERICA!
make pancakes with those yogurts instead of milk, Congrats on 60k subs
Thanks, and that’s a cool idea!
I guess the food is in packaging
I wonder if your favorite kind of music is thub step?
🤣
Thats alot of money in that rebar for them to just toss it
Dealing with rebar is pain im the ass. Especially if its not straight. Once i cut rebar from demolition. U put it on one pile. Now u need to load it up. It tangles togheter. Heavy. We had to load it up and out 4 times(from cat spoon to sitet into van, out of van).bro i died. It was good money but not many people will do it more than once hah
@@slanigrad I understand what your saying. But what i ment is they paid good money to get the rebar and turned around and trashed it
@@moondog4313 yea i get it bro. I'd still scrape it.
It was a lot of effort but I’d happily do it again!
Thumb me an the old Chevy weight 6100 pounds empty we don’t squat till we have over 1800 pounds in the bed lol
😆 maybe someday I’ll have to upgrade! I bet the gas mileage is about the same too
@@thubprint it gets 19 in town and 22 on the highway
Bro, Do you know about lead apron jackets? Does it have any scrap value. If yes? How we extract lead out of that? Please guide me🙏🏻
Oh that sounds cool! I’ve never come across one, I’d love to try take one apart sometime.
God Bless the Canadian Convoy of 50k truckers over 50 miles long fighting these mandates and for our Freedoms joined by our thousands of American brother and sister truckers in Ottawa
We’re you able to cut up all those metal studs with one battery? I just knew it was gonna take a few, especially with the cold
Almost! The one large one nearly got me through but I ended up needing two of the little ones as well
Hint hint, your left headlight is out
Ty! I’ll take care of that asap lol, don’t need the tickets
💖💖💖💖🐺🐾
😆💙👌
Cutting on your hull I sure it was tiring
so, how much for a new set of shocks for your truck. lol
Not sure but I should probably price those out sooner rather than later heh
Was the film completely destroyed? Were you able to see anything on it?
I should’ve shared that! I did hold it up to the light but it’s just some guy sitting at a desk speaking to the camera, I assume it’s some educational resource
Wish he would tell how long it takes to do these pickups. Then the $ per hour would better to see if it’s worth it.
Fair enough! I’ll keep that in mind and try to share that whenever I’m able. The dumpsters don’t work the same since they all blur together, but the pile of steel I certainly could’ve. I think I was probably all-in for 2.5hrs including driving time, minus 2 cutting wheels and about $20 in fuel.
Hey Thub! Quick question. Ok so I have almost 60Lbs of #2 wire. Now how does the scrap yard classify all those little 1 inch pieces in the bottom of my box? #2 also? Or do I need to spend all day trying to bundle them all together?.
Please advise! Thank you!
Good Video Thanks..
wire is wire! all based on recovery of copper, length doesnt matter my friend ;) If it's #2 then it's #2. 100ft or 1 inch, it all gets bailed together
None of that matters. Copper is copper. Just make sure there's no other metals mixed in with it. Also is it insulated?
@@austinhernandez2716 Ye when he says #2 he's talking about number 2 insulated
And today's quiz - how many energy drinks would it take to make thub move that fast? Winner will receive 2 Greek style banana yogurts
😆
1st
How was the yogurt?
It was actually great haha 😆
I usually just buy plain, but I can’t really argue with free!
why do you collect plastic bottles? is there a return on them?
Yup! We get 10cents each here
It's annoying to see scrap under heavy trash that you can't take all.
Yup. I could’ve spent all day pulling it out but time is money right
@@thubprint
That's right.
Time is the most expensive thing.
first
Mate! 9" Angle grinder & a cutting wheel. Fair dinkum, are you a masochist?????
I’m just scrapping on a shoestring budget out here haha
So you get to go on people's properties like that? You're very lucky. You'll get arrested in the US.
We sell the heck out of the bases of office chairs. And you fiddled around in garbage yet walked away from a construction dumpster full of steel. You're killing me man. Saying that, steel shred dropped 20% last week down here. Let's see, scrap steel to buy yogurt, or just eat yogurt?
I was thinking about those pieces of strapping but they really don’t weigh much.
Videos will be twice interesting, if you'll SHOW (not only pronounce) the resulting receipt.
I always plan to, but sometimes I just forget 😅
Good job. Keep it up
Great video
