- During my recent luxury adventure to France, I had the opportunity to stay at the fabulous Shangri-La Paris (www.shangri-la.com/paris/shang.... This ornate palace hotel has a wonderful pedigree, it was created in 2011 from the palace of Roland Bonaparte, the grand-nephew of Napoleon. Perhaps the hotel's most incredible suite, and the best and most expensive suite in Paris, is La Suite Imperial. This suite was created from what was the personal living quarters of Prince Bonaparte. Join me for a tour of this over-the-top, Second Empire space, with its antiques, period furniture, paintings and gold bathroom fixtures.

Thank you for watching!
Amazing Hotel, and Amazing review.plz keep them coming Mr.Fred
Thanks for watching. This is one of my favorite suites, anywhere in the world.
STUNNING
Beautiful room.
Breathtaking
this was beautiful and amazing
I agree. Thank you very much for watching the video and please subscribe to my channel. I hope to return to Paris to film more at the hotel in late May.
Beautiful.
Yes, but I used that word too much!!
Gorgeous! Needless to say, I could live there year round...
Me too!
Me too
Absolutely breathtaking specially the kitchen & the bathroom gold & silver plated beautifully decorated Imperial Suit😍👌
I love it too. I think it's truly the ultimate luxury suite in Paris and feels like staying in a museum (in a good way). Thanks for watching.
Just WOW!Beyond anything I could ever afford.
Great tour. Thanks!
Thanks for watching, that's truly one of my favorite suites in the world!!
The view there is gorgeous beautiful :)
I agree. I think this is my favorite hotel in my favorite city in the world. Thank you for watching the video.
Thank you for tour. Awesome 👍☕🌹
Thank you for watching it! Truly one of my favorite hotel suites anywhere in the world.
Btw nice video and a happy new year
Beautiful
My fave suite in Paris! Thank you for watching and be sure to watch my new video showing an Executive Suite at Le Meurice.
Superb
I agree, I think it's the most superb suite in Paris. Thank you very much for watching the video.
❤I love it!😊
One of my favorite spaces anywhere in the world, I love that Second Empire style. Thanks for watching and please subscribe.
Love the Shangri-La hotels! The ones in Asia are more modern. Thanks for sharing. I loved the history of the building!
The view in the balcony or patio is breath taking. Napoleón Bonaparte's nephew had a great view!
I agree, thank you very much for watching the video. It's truly one of my favorite hotels anywhere in the world. I really long for a time when I can return to Paris.
And sorry for my error, Prince Roland was Napoleon's grand nephew. He was the grandson of Napoleon's brother Lucien.
Absolutely stunning 🥂👌
I agree, I hope to get back there very soon!
Thanks for watching and please subscribe to my channel!
Wow. Wow. Wow. I was going to say BEAUTIFUL...😉
I think it's my favorite suite anywhere in the world. Very Parisian!!!
Thanks for watching and please subscribe to my channel.
So beautiful I could cry... just weep! lol ♥
I agree!! Thank you so much for watching and for your comment. I hope to return in February to film more at the hotel.
Me too. These presentations are among the best travel videos I’ve seen. They always show what you want to see and spend a perfect amount of time on each beautiful point of interest. Thank you.
@@pmatthews4391 Wow, thank you very much for your kind comments. I enjoy making the videos as much as you enjoy watching them!
Good video. Magnificient.
Thank you for watching it!
Great video man!
Thank you. I was a bit blown away by the suite!
we can see ourselves it is BEAUTIFUL
Hey. I agree!! Thank you for watching.
Referring to my other comment on the view from the suite at the Shangri-La at the Shard, this has the 'charm' of a place that has lived, been lived in, and that makes you want to stay in.
I agree. But you don't get the views. I have a video of their Suite Shangri-La at the same hotel, which has amazing views of Paris (but a more modern design).
Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Yes I'm very happy. I will just sit on that dear little verandah with a mug of coffee and a chocolate croissant....
I would happily join you, except I would go for hot chocolate and a regular croissant!
well...what else can women really do ?
BREATH TAKING , gorgeous , gorgeous
I agree, agree, agree!
Spent a month there in 1878. The workout regimen the spa chief gave me then keeps me going to this day. 164 years baby. Squat two, three, four.
But Prince Roland didn't build it until 1895, I think your workouts have clouded your memory!
Merci for watching and SVP subscribe to my channel!
I agree with you Fred. I think the history you presented was why I expected more old France. I thought it would be more like the Ritz Paris. My comment re: The Four Seasons was when I stayed there in Boston. I love traveling lux and very old country. I will keep watching Please keep it going. You add something important to all of us who travel ❤️
Thank you very much for your very kind comment. I try to post a few videos a week and hopefully we'll all be able to travel again very soon.
Luxury Fred For sure. I will be watching. I like your enthusiasm 🌹
@@janetcorey5102 How can you be in a luxury hotel and not be excited!!
Omg the bathroom!
In my humble opinion, this is the best luxury suite in the world. I love the historic vibe and my favorite part is the painting hanging in the bathroom! Thank you for watching.
Magnificent in each detail! This hotel is really amazing from tip to toe! Another example of perfection you can find in Paris.
God bless us start and end your day with our ALMIGHTY GOD. THANK you so much and regards to all of you there in your country. From Lani D. Nepomuceno, Philippines
That's great but what did you think of the suite?
i love Shangri-la
It is very wonderful! I just returned from another stay there, this is a new tour of their other iconic suite, the Shangri-La Suite: ruclips.net/video/IAU1LdFhYZc/видео.html
Muy bueno parece el Palacio de Versalles
Si, claro!
Wow art works in the toilet and bathrooms! Gold bits on the plumbing! That is very posh.
Not sure if I could cope with that roar of traffic outside.
Thank you for watching. Yes, I love the art in the bathroom! I hear the gold faucets are easier to keep clean than silver ones as they don't need polishing.
Also, there is double-paned glass and doors so when it's shut, you don't hear it.
Amazingly beautiful. If I were extremely wealthy, I'd see if I could purchase 4 suites and turn them into a permanent large suite for myself with a big fire place and concierge service with 24 hr chef service if I wanted it and laundry service/mail service. Everything I needed and car service as well. I'm going up to the limit in my mind lol🤷👍🏼
I think I would do the same thing!! Rather than live in a multi-million dollar mansion, just live in a luxury hotel.
@@FreddySherman + I know I would and it's not unheard of, I've read where there are actor's who live in expensive hotel's they prefer it, I think I would to, not a home.
Just the luxury to have all your needs met feels good I'm thinking 😁. Have a great day where ever you are.. blessings🙌🏻🙏🏻💞
@@paulatristan8189 Yes, and I think it can be even cheaper than owning (and maintaining) a huge mansion.
Yes me too nice n cosy
@@FreddySherman It is cheaper. When my parents gave up their house in London they took a suite at Claridge's. They saved money on staff, rates and utilities.
Is beautifull hotel
I agree!
Luxury Fred Thank you
Molto bella. !!!!!So biaudiful. .😘😘😘😘😘😘
Grazie mille!!!
I have the same hallway lights in my apartment. Feeling accomplished.
For once.
Clearly you have excellent taste. Thanks for watching.
I wionder how the pic above the bathtub survives.
From moisture? I would assume it's a reprint and framed in a special way so it's sealed. Good question.
remembers the copacana palace hotel in Rio de Janeiro
I like that hotel but I think it has more of a modern, art deco style. This is classic Second Empire French design. Thank you very much for watching the video.
A bath room to dream about.
I agree. I loved that huge painting in there.
It’s lovely but not more luxurious than a Four Seasons hotel. I was expecting more of a French style, reflecting more like the beautiful woodwork. I am looking forward to more of your adventures and really wish you Bon Chance!
I have not been to the Four Seasons in Paris, but you are probably right it's more luxurious. Here is my tour of the hotel's Shangri-La suite which has a much more modern decor: ruclips.net/video/0zntsORR4ZY/видео.html let me know what you think about that one!
Wish videos would show what the ceiling looks like too
It's funny, my fiance was the cameraperson for this and I was just telling her the same thing. Take a few minutes and scan the whole room and the ceiling before we move into the next room!
👍 love your videos
Luxury Fred how much does the suite cost per night
You always forget to mention the fare for a night and the check out time.
First, thanks for watching. The room price changes a lot so sometimes I don't include it. Prices change based on the season, the night of the week and on how full the hotel is. FYI, this suite is about $25K per night.
Beautiful, well appointed, but there could hve been another bathroom with a standard full size bathtub,
I agree!!! You did see the second bathroom, right?
Thanks for watching and please subscribe to my channel!
I prefer classic houses hotels and rooms 💖💃🌹🥂
Me too! And this is definitely one of the most classic hotels in Paris! Thank you very much for watching the video
After a prolonged weekend in this suite, I can now be reached at Skid Row, L.A. forth cardbox after the dumpster!
But I bet it was worth it!!!! Thanks for watching the video.
😍😍😍😍😍😍
My favorite suite in Paris!
"Beautiful"
Probably my favorite suite anywhere in the world. Thank you for watching.
Is this the same suite that Princess Diana stayed in? Also, which suite did they film Diana in with Naomi Watts?
My husband and I have this hotel on our wishlist to stay in. I was extremely impressed with the reviews that are left by people who visit.
Wow, I never heard that about Princess Diana,. It's not possible as this hotel opened in 2010.
I can assure you the reviews are correct, it's a very special hotel. Historic structure with modern amenities, amazing Paris and Eiffel Tower views and of course legendary warm, deeply personal Shangri-La service.
OK, I did some research for you. Perhaps you would consider subscribing to my channel!! The opening and closing scenes of the Diana movie were supposed to be the Imperial Suite at The Ritz in Paris, so you can stay there. However, I read the scenes were actually filmed in the UK at a private home called Fetcham Park House in Fetcham, Surrey. It's not a hotel, it's a wedding and meeting venue and the film production brought in their own furniture and accessories to make it look like The Ritz. All that is gone now, it's back to being a wedding and events venue.
LOL it's called a balcony, not a patio. Interesting to see the beautiful suite.
Thanks for watching, I think it's both. It's not really a balcony as there is part of the building under it, it doesn't stick out over anything. How about verandah?
He omitted to tell you the most important fact about the suite, and that was it's price!
Thank you very much for watching the video.the price varies widely depending on the night of the week, the season and the demand. The base price is EUR 20,000 per night
Next time when you vlog, put emphasis and focus also on the toiletries. Thanx
Usually I do show them and the brand they use, but sorry I missed it in this one. There was a lot to show in that suite! Thank you for watching.
How the heck do I get job like this I love luxury hotels and suites I would love to do things like this
I did it by first writing about travel. Then when I would travel, I started making videos to go along with my articles. Thanks for watching.
At that kind of price wouldn’t you be better of renting an entire house in Paris? You could probably get a fully serviced chateau with staff for the same price.
It's all about personal preference. Some people want the luxury service they get at a hotel like that, from a pro staff used to taking care of guests. Also there is security, you get very good security at a luxury hotel like this.
But yes, you could probably rent a fancy house with staff for the same price, but you would have to research and find it. The Shangri-La and other palace hotels offer it already.
Thanks for watching and please subscribe to my channel!
Can I reserve it for 3 months at a time? Can you pay cash?
Sure. Send me the money and I'll take care of everything...
Please wait until my next paycheck.
Hi fred,it's me again..lots of my friends are telling me that the Mandarin Oreintal is much more luxurious than the Shangri-La,and also the two star michelin restaurant of the MO is way much better...what do you think??
Thank you
I stayed there, before the renovation. Shangri-La is a modern, skyscraper hotel, totally different from MO. Shangri-La has Asian food, the restaurant at MO is classic British stuff. Only views from MO are Hyde Park. Sadly the hotel is still closed after the fire last year.
@@FreddySherman thank you fred, but i was really asking about the MO in Paris..is it luxurious like the shangri-La,Plaza Athenee,Le Meurice and so on??
Does Park Hyatt, and MO compete with the best hotels??
@@wesammansour1486 Hi Wesam. I don't know, I have not been to MO Paris. I would say MO is up there as a luxury brand, more so than Park Hyatt I think. I think MO compares to Shangri-La, maybe just a bit under Le Meurice and Plaza Athenee.
@@FreddySherman thank you very much
Yes😇😎🤩🙌👏🤲✌️🙌🙏
Thank you!!
Pls close up or focus the room's complementary toiletries and other aminities of the hotel.
Thank you for the watching the video, usually I try to do that, sorry I did not do it in this video. At the hotel, they do use Hermes toiletries.
😢😢😢😢😢😢voglio. ...Casa mia cosìiiiiiiii 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Grazie!!
And things like that
Sorry, it happens when I do these off the top of my head, without a script. Thanks for watching and things like that!
It is called "Cathedral Ceilings"
Thank you for the info!
How much the suite for a day ?
It's hard to answer that question. The rate is normally EUR 25,000 per day. This would be higher on holidays and during big events like Paris Fashion Week. Conversely, on a winter day when the hotel is not full you could probably get it for EUR 10,000 per night. Thank you for watching the video.
The tv wires were all over the place
I agree with you 100 percent and I am not sure why they allowed it to be like that. Also the TV was old school and just bad. I filmed this in 2017 but hotels had flat screens back then.
Thanks for watching and please subscribe to my channel. I hope to be able to return to Paris soon.
@@FreddySherman Im glad you noticed, other than that, thanks for sharing
@@jet7865 It's so obvious, that's why it's surprising they didn't notice. I stayed at the hotel but in a regular room, not in that suite. Here is the tour of my room: ruclips.net/video/1oodUUO70f8/видео.html
Dear Fred,
Many people say that De Crillon is the most luxurious hotel in Paris..
What do you think??
Your opinion is important to me..
Thank you
Hi Wesam. I have never visited the Crillon but by its reputation and history I would agree it's one of the best. I would have to visit and check it out to really make a judgement whether it's the best!
Luxury Fred thank you very much..hope you get to check it out,and give us an amazing review as usual..
Always watching your great videos..
Cheers
Thank you, it's one hotel I have really wanted to visit for a long time. They have some crazy suites there.
Hello, how much is the rent ?
The hotel suite goes for about $20,000 per night. Thank you for watching.
Nice but the TV and the chords should be aranged better
I totally agree, good eye. This was 2016, I would hope they put in a nice flat screen in there.
Is this whom they chose to present the most expensive hotel room in Paris? O M G
Maybe someday you will visit Paris and can make your own video. Thank you for watching, you can see more at www.luxuryfred.com
You asked, I thought the rooms were as nice as any Four Seasons hotel. Everything
I agree, I love that formal style for a Paris hotel suite, I think it works. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
Mashallah
Jazak Allahu Khayran
Did I miss the price? Why headline it is the most expensive suite and then not say what it costs?
First, thanks for watching. The price varies widely depending on the season, night of the week, etc. For example, this week is Paris Fashion Week and the suite is almost $50K per night. If you wanted to book it on a random, winter, mid-week night, it might be $20K, that's about the lowest price it goes for.
It must be very $$$$
Yes, about $20,000 per night!!
imagine if you could be locked in quarantine there
I do imagine that!!! It would be pretty nice. I hear a lot of super rich people are doing that, isolating in a big suite in a luxury hotel. Thank you for watching.
It looks like the private appartment of french ´s kings louis 14 or others french kings
I agree!!!! And isn't that what you want in a Paris hotel suite? Thank you for watching.
WHERE IS THE BED ??
In the bedroom! Watch the whole video, I go into the bedroom and show the bed. It's the room with the terrace.
Thanks for watching, please subscribe to my channel!
@4:54 Too many wires behind the television.
I agree. And the television isn't big or fancy enough. Le Meurice has super cool Bang & Olufsen TVs.
That tree looks like it came from the show Charlie Brown Christmas tree
It did, the whole hotel had a Charlie Brown theme that year. Thanks for watching!
why would you need all that?
I'm not sure there is an answer to that question, especially when it comes to luxury travel. Thanks for watching.
“Things like that”...shame the tour was not given by someone who was better prepared.
The important thing is that you watched and for that, I thank you. My tours are impromptu, done without rehearsing. You can always go to the Shangri-La RUclips channel to watch standard tours of the suite.
Bizarre english speaking lol
@@ginetterondeau1569 Sorry I tried my best. My English is better than my French!!
@@FreddySherman it's ok but it looks a bit weird in France lol
@@ginetterondeau1569 That's because I'm a bit weird. Merci beaucoup d'avoir regardé.
The camera is panning too unevenly (dizzying). Appears the focus is on the moderator rather than the suite.
The focus is supposed to be on the moderator. If you want to see just the suite, go to the Shangri-La channel. Thanks for watching!
1 day = 5000 €
Yes, it's crazy, and I think it might even be 10,000 a night.
Is it more than 120$ per night? Otherwise, I can't stay there.
You need to add a lot of zeros bro. It's about $20,000 per night.
Oh dear, lol.
@@Igaluit Maybe you can pay $120 to stay for three minutes!
You might have yourself a deal, purely for its historical interest. Seems to me that even the wealthier Frenchmen aren't that rich. That leaves mainly rich oil sheiks who can pay that unflichingly.
I know you were restricted on time ..... but please get a better photographer ...... the details of
your palace could have been fascinating........
I am the photographer. Yes, it's a balance as I did not stay in this suite and only had a limmited amount of time to film it. I believe you can find the official video from Shangri-La which is more carefully filmed.
I hope to return soon, and knowing what is there, I will set up a whole afternoon to film and capture the details .
Remember, you take 'still shots' quickly .... to reflect on them longer during your
editing ......
That was a superb suite and building .... -and my little engineers mind was racing,
seeing how to re-construct some details , for the wife .... :}
thx: CS
[ that bathroom suite'' was the limit ]
Yes, I love the paintings in the bathroom!
While other hotel vloggers have been so neat and courteous to close the doors of the balconies they are showing the viewers, I feel uncomfortable that you did not close the door after showing us the balcony. It seems you didn't care about the entry of dust and didn't show too extra care to the room as your host was gracious enough to lend you the suite to be used in your personal vlog.
I'm not a hotel vlogger, I am a travel writer who was on assignment covering the hotel for a magazine.
I agree with you and should have closed the door. However, for security, the hotel staff member, who was with me in the suite, always closes and locks any door when I film something. It's standard practice to ensure the security of the room. Same thing with windows, if I touch them, the staff member must ensure they are closed and locked.

Is that Japanese? I'm sorry I can't read Japanese! Thank you for watching the video.
And I love Japan, be sure to watch my videos from my trips there.
I don't get why the bathroom is so impressive to you. I mean the high ceilings are cool but it's otherwise just like a standard junior suite bathroom in terms of size
You need to see it in person. It is large, especially when you have the shower and toilets in totally different rooms down that hallway. The ceilings are very high and with the beautiful artwork, it feels like a parlour or living room, not a bathroom.
I just realised the older I grow, this things are less important for me...
Everyone is different, I'm happy as long as a hotel room is clean and quiet. Thank you for watching.
Pick up your hooves when you walk.
Thanks for watching and for your intelligent comment. Many French buildings have parquet wood floors, which are quite noisy.
1 day charge rum
2 days charge wine. Is that the right answer?
Sorry to disagree, only one Toilet basin, what happens if 2 people get caught short at same time ? I do not think it would be appreciated, !!
Excellent point! Thanks for watching.
As a jewelry designer I can tell those shower fixtures were not gold Plated, due to the fact that they are exposed to water (duh) , they can not be gold plated, they're just gold colored.. same as most of the things you thought were gold plated
To be exact, nothing in that room was gold plated. Except for maybe tables or furniture, that I can't tell.
Thanks for watching. They make both gold colored fixtures and bathroom fixtures that are really gold plated. I don't know the details of how they make them waterproof but you need to clean them with vinegar and in the past they were popular also because they didn't need to be polished regularly like silver faucets do.
It's clearly a quite noisy room - better get a quiet room in the back of the building.
That's funny, I don't remember it being noisy at all, other than us and the TV. It was very quiet as I am always sensitive about noisy rooms. Thanks for watching.
Can you please explain how Napoleon Bonaparte lived in the same time as the making of tour Eiffel????
I wish your camera would pan more steadily. Maybe get slow and smooth B roll footage. I got so dizzy watching this I couldn't enjoy it. On a positive note, it's one of the few places that knows you need a sink in the WC.
Thank you very much for watching. I agree and my technique has improved since this video was filmed about 6 years ago. I also now use a Ronin gimbal.
This is truly one of my favorite hotel suites anywhere in the world. I love the sink in the WC and also that huge painting!
Thanks again and please subscribe to my channel.
Here is a more recent video tour filmed with the Ronin gimbal: ruclips.net/video/mVaxaX7hnrI/видео.html
The gentlemen that is conducting this tour looks as if he just rolled out of bed. I mean, I would have put effort into what I wore for this tour.
First, thank you for watching the video. Second, thank you for taking the time to comment. By French standards maybe, but come on, I am wearing a stylish black suit with a reasonably pressed (for traveling) blue shirt. My beard is trimmed and the hair is somewhat neat. I had limited time to film the suite so things can be a bit rushed!
Again thanks for watching and please subscribe to my channel!
I really like the places you choose, but the videos are poor. They're more about you than about the places. Please visit the other channels of people reviewing hotels, airlines and others. Big Tip: a picture is worth 1,000 words.
Thanks for watching and the criticism. The videos accompany my articles and blog posts, so they're about my perspective and my opinion on the places I'm visiting. As you say, there are more than enough generic reviews of hotels and other stuff if that's what someone wants to watch.
Luxury Fred You do a fantastic job! Keep it up.
No one can deny your great job. Maybe I need to get used to your style since the information is more important.
El Rariachi My goodness. You are a ray of sunshine.
Thanks for watching and for your comments, I agree! I don't always have the luxury of a big production budget or time to produce elaborate videos, so that's why I do the commentary as I film the video. OFF camera means I have to record the voice-over separately and it adds another step to the process.
How much is one night hook up meeting 😜😉
The price varies depending on the day of the week, the season and other factors. During the winter, midweek, you might be able to get it for $15,000 per night. During peak times like Paris Fashion week, it's $25,000 per night. Thanks for watching.
