I was at this game. By the sixth strikeout you knew something special was happening. We were spoiled back then two future hall of famers. One of the best games I have ever seen live.
He had a hell of a change up. It might have been the highlights from this game but I remember Rob Dibble claiming he'd still be pitching if he had that change up.
Wow, this is great!! Thanks for posting! I'm a diehard Randy Johnson fan. Can you please upload also TV announcers version which is not WLW Radio? I want to compare both.
There might be a slight difference in radar guns. TV guns never showed him higher than 97 mph and on the last pitch in the 7th they showed 96, the radio announced 98 mph, which again they announced in the 9th, though the TV wasn't showing velocity for that one.
Upload is much appreciated. I always wanted to see this full game. Do you have any games Randy pitched his first year with the Yankees? I still see people say Randy was a bust that year, but having watched him, I can say he was often still among the most dominant pitchers.
Even though “The Big Unit”(Randy Johnson) did pitch 10 Innings in this game, BIG DEAL! The fact that all 20 of His Strikeouts came within the regular 9 Innings was reason enough to count it as A Major League Baseball Record Breaking Performance.

Piecoro was young. Didnt realize he was with the Reds broadcast in 01. Cool footage of GABP cobstruction. Randy Johnson was a machine.
3:12:09 this game ended on a walk off walk in extras after the 20 strikeout. Wow.
Lol
My uncle is Chris Reitsma (who pitched for the Reds)

Been on a Randy Johnson youtube binge after watching the MLB video "The Big Picture"

I'm sorry this is the only version I have.

Who is Mike Massallo (spell?), the announcer in the 6th?
Ah, the 20 strikeout game MLB won't officially acknowledge.
Why?
gargantuan good
3:02:43 when mark grace was good

Johnson only pitched nine.
