I like the prefacing shout out to Robbie C then the proclamation of not really knowing who he is. I’ve watched a touch of Robbie C, I do like his coaching abilities, especially at the beginner level and I do have one of his special birdie blend Wizards. I’m waiting on some ‘official’ tossing plastic to throw, even if it is a mad scientist mold 😊
I really hope your channel takes off. We wish for you to be able to keep doing what you're doing. Your sense of humor is what keeps us coming back to watch you.😊
Great video Hunter. A nice change up. I do find your videos quite entertaining. And especially cuz I also live in Michigan, and have played many of the courses that you have featured. I couldn't agree with you more, about the Meijer Broadway. I truly feel for you, as you describe some of the pitfalls of your van life. I almost afraid that you are missing out on too much of life that is given to us in such limited amount. In any event, I hope your dreams excel far beyond expectations. I have four sons that, like me, hope to see you on the course one day. I pray, God bless. Till then, cheers
Thank you for doing a Q&A! The backdrop is amazing for it. You are good at picking a background setting - your videos stand out, you choose amazing backgrounds!
I think music helps while playing, i understand not having it fully turned up, but it relaxes you and takes your mind off playing.if you get out to maple hill let me know I don't live far I would enjoy throwing a round with you. Maple hill is beautiful.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some of my caffeine-fueled questions! I feel the same way as you, if I can check off a couple sort of bucket list courses, cool, but really, I find the lesser known ones to be more fun than the big ones. Not always, but the couple I've played have been alright. If I could build a sweet course in my hometown, I absolutely would, but unless you're wanting to play in a bunch of corn/bean fields, we'd have to wander to southern Illinois to create something unique. If I really wanted to get wild and crazy, probably out in Utah or something. Somewhere beautiful with canyons and cool rocks. The only tournaments I'd want to run would be 2 or 3 disc challenge or just low key fun events, nothing sanctioned or anything. Love your best nature moment! That'd be amazing to see a moose in the wild. This was a great video, thanks for doing the Q&A!
Your questions rounded it out very well! Thank you for sending the list and I wish I could have gotten to more of them. Utah has many of my all-time favorite courses. I agree on the non-sanctioned tournaments - fun is the best tournament backdrop. Which discs would you choose for a 3-round challenge?
@@tossingplastic sorry for the delayed response! I've actually run one event myself, a Doomsday Demolition. Everyone got a Blackout, Frag, and Bleak. The Blackout got much love, the Frag....well it wasn't a favorite (understandably), and the Bleak was pretty well received. I'm going to run another one or two next year, though use different discs. I love playing the MVP Circuit Challenge, and others where everyone gets the same discs. Chance to try new plastic and it puts everyone on more even footing.
Same, my favorite course is 3.2ish on UDisc, idk why it’s not well liked, couple par 4s, a creek and a tunnel hole. The courses that are 4+ are always packed on the weekend and they just never live up to expectation
This was enjoyable, and I definitely appreciate the genuine answers and the real insight on van life as a Regular Joe who just wants to go out and experience new things. On the favorite course question, I have to agree on some of the "bucket list" courses. To be fair, some of them are really good. Idlewild's one of my favorite courses anywhere, I actually really enjoyed Wildhorse, and Northwoods Black is every bit as good as people say it is and more. Renegades' Trail in MI, rated #57ish in the world? Fine, but I can think of half a dozen courses in Michigan I'd rather play (including both Meyer Broadway courses, especially South). Same for Toboggan; my friends get super geeked up to play it every year, and it feels like I'm being punished for some misdeed because it's just not that fun of a course to me. Eagles Crossing was interesting, but it's another one that didn't quite live up to the expectation. Still a good course, and I'm really interested in playing it again along with the new woods course they cut in, but I honestly expected more when I played it. And then there's Jones Supreme, which I played in 2022 when Worlds was there: I completely understand why DDO has fallen out of favor with the tour and why they ripped out Supreme to put East and West back in, as that was one of the more disappointing courses I've ever played. If your travels ever take you to the Smoky Mountains, go find Fire Mountain Disc Golf Sanctuary in Cherokee, NC and play it. If your travels bring you back to Southeast Michigan, maybe I'll have the good fortune to bump into you at Palmer and play a round with you.
@alwolschleger7242 absolutely man I could not agree more! Some courses definitely earn their spot! Renegade's trail may be the most out of place course I've been to with the top100 tag haha I do hope to run into you on the course some time!
Great tip, you can't underestimate the power of playing with ppl better than you as opposed to worse. For 20 years I played with my buddies that only throw forehand and thumbers. Being a backhand dominant player, I had no idea how truly awful my form was until I started playing with better ppl. Thanks! North and South from where to where?
@tossingplastic Well, I live a state south but played a few courses up there in Holland last year. Paw paw park was my favorite. There's plenty of great chuckin here in the Cincy/Dayton area, hope to see you on the course one day. Best of luck out there!
I've only been in a few caves. I was in mammoth cave when I was like 5 or 6 and it was cool. More recently on a college retreat during some free time we went through mammoth onyx cave. Probably my favorite cave so far. Definitely would love to find and explore more caves. Crystal City Underground disc golf is closed due to flooding issues with no set date to reopen it. I'd assume if you had a couple of flood lights filming it wouldn't be too bad. Definitely vlog a cave if you find one!
The boombox question gave me a flashback to the vids you did a while back on disc golfer stereotypes. ‘chalk is life’ 😂 Seriously though, it may be loud house trance EDM, but you know it’s being pumped through a Bluetooth, ain’t nobody carrying around boomboxes still are they? If they are I hope it has dual cassette decks.
I don't think there is a bad place to go in the U.P. unless it's the winter, haha! I've spent many trips up there but not for disc golf. Do you have a favorite spot?
@tossingplastic Never played DG there. I've only driven across one time from Mackinac west to Superior after doing the circle tour around Lake Superior. I just remember being amazed at how dense the pines were there.
Check out Superior Pines, listed as Newberry, but not really, it’s up along the shore between Munising and where the Two Hearted empties into the lake. I personally love a lil course just west of the bridge, Silver Mountain. Yeah it has no tee pads or tee signage, but it plays up and down the ole ski hill twice and has a great overlook above Lake Michigan. Peace
I agree with not filming disc reviews because discs of the same mold will fly different depending on plastic, weight & how old they are etc. So how about doing an "In the bag" of the discs you throw? I'm sure you have a story about each one of your discs.
@Alejandro_Guajiro I talked about it a bit in my 100 video recap, but basically, I went to Dog sit for my sister, who went on a semi emergency training for the Navy. Finally, I decided to pull the trigger !
