The fact that this camera is still being produced and I bought one last week shows how good it still is after 6 years production, well done panaosonic and Lecia and well done you for making such a good video
Thank you for the excellent review. I purchased this camera three days ago to replace my DMC-GX7 which just fried it's sensor. What I like about the FZ300 camera is that I don't have to carry two or more lenses with me and the inconvenience of switching lenses all the time is now a thing of the past. I am also carrying a much lighter camera bag over my shoulder. I'm happy to give up some of the 4/3 quality for the features and convenience the FZ300 offers. Your very detailed review of the FZ300 is much appreciated and will save me time on the new learning curve. Thanks again for your efforts ! For me, the 20 minutes was well worth watching.
Excellent tutorial, initially I was not sure about buying this camera, but he has reminded me the very reason why I consider this camera in the 1st place, that is, to have fun, the primary objective of this camera is to have fun. and enjoy the outdoor more.
I've had this camera for several month and I am very happy with it, in fact I use it more than the so called better cameras with larger sensors because I find that on a nice day the difference in quality is not that much... except perhaps in low light.... Watching your video I discovered how much more there is to this camera and I am glad I bought it, thank you!
This is a REALLY FANTASTIC review. In a few minutes you cover more stuff and provide more practical info than other reviews do in multiple videos that span hours. THANKS!
Also special kudos for your discussion of the advantage of trading zoom intensity for constant aperture. Yours is the ONLY video I've seen that handles this subject well.
An excellent review of this camera. I studied the owner's manuals for two months before purchase & have been using the camera extensively for the past month. I thought I knew the camera well by now, but I learned a number of new tricks from watching your video. The FZ300 has SO many features and options that it will take me a while to learn and perfect everything that it does. Well done!
If you pause at 17.41min there is a “touch to shoot’ button next to the histogram with a finger, release button and a cross. Hit this button and you can touch to focus and shoot.
Ditto to all positive comments below. Should do another video showing what you can do with image quality when you bracket or use the multi-exposure mode. For landscape shooters or macro shooters, you can get extremely good images if you stack 4 or more exposures. Since this sensor is about 1/4th the surface area of the 1" sensors, stacking 4 equal exposure shots yields similar image quality. If you vary the exposure and stack, you can get even better image quality (because of its sharp lens especially!).
Very interesting, I will have to read up on that some more. I guess you will then have to stack them up in a processing app with selective filters applied.
Just got this camera. For the price its the best in the range. Only issue is the sensor is small and is not good in low light conditions causing poor noise. It has a mic input so that´s great for YT creators.
With doubt the best review of the FZ300 on RUclips, covered all the features, very concise reviewing, ....other video reviewers ramble on and waffle making the video long and painful to watch, but this was great review, no waffle, just facts and specs coming thick and fast....loved it, ...I am buying one of these camera. Would like a video about grabbing images from video, and compare results against images taken in normal photo mode, ...as grabbing pictures from video is what sold me on this camera, my son plays soccer and always difficult to decide it to shoot video or take pictures, now I can just shoot 4K and grab pictures, for every parent taking pics and video of your kids just got amazing. Also can I only garb the still from video while on the camera, or can I do it on my Mac or pc? And what is the Panasonic software like....any good or not?
Brilliant video! I am from the UK and I could listen to your accent all day long! It is also quite obvious that you know what you are talking about! I think you have made my mind up for me.
I bought a P900 because I wanted to play with the zoom, but now that I know more about photography I would buy this one. Zoom is very cool, but once you did everything you wanted you wish you simply had more image and video quality.
I just got the FZ300.... I was looking at the Nikon B700 at first and boy spending a little bit more to get this camera, was really the best move. It is a really good camera and shall do me fine for the next few years filming. Love your review and really good seeing someone actually look at this model and not someone who just bagging on the make.
Excellent review highlighting all the strengths of the camera and why the FZ300 should be the #1 choice for an ultra-zoom travel camera, for nature and wildlife photography, video shooting, and many other scenarios. Was curious to know if the firmware update has added any features such as the minimum shutter speed for Auto ISO or for shutter release by tapping on touch screen.
The best review....In your opinion:tz100 with 1" sensor or fz300 with constant f2.8 aperture for portraits, and as an all around camera???i dont care about the size...thank you....
Still a valuable explanation. Many people overlook the 2/3 inch sensor thinking they need it for giant enlargements...they do't. Everything else is there.
So far I love mine, I got it on sale for $400 us. It’s going to my kick around B roll for my G7 set up. I do white water rafting and a slash proof 2.8 Leica glass zoom in my dry box is going to be so awesome.
Genius !! , best cam review I've watched in a long time. Precise, to the point, and very detailed information on product. Thanks to you, I've decided on purchase, when I start my company, you'll be my go to go salesperson. Even euro accent souned pleasant to my ears. Thanks a million dude. By the way, I subscribed to your channel.
Believe or not I just bought mine from Amazon 07-29-2024 😊. I paid $330 almost new. I have been going back to this video over and over. A new video speaking a little slower would be helpful. Great job 👏🏽
It was a bit long, but full of useful information. My FZ-200 has served me well for all outdoor activities for three years. It now has a defective exposure control button, so the 300 seems to be a good choice for replacement. I use my Nikon D810 for indoor shoots and some outdoor work when the highest quality image is needed. I find the 200 beats my Canon G16 and Nikon and 810 for ultra close photos. What do you know about the repair cost for my 200? The 300 certainly looks great, but too much for a third camera.
Good review - and at the 17:45 - There is a touch screen to take shot available - touch screen (TS), the arrow above the fn TS button opens the new set of TS buttons where you can find and toggle on/off the touch to shot option. Also the benefits of the taking the RAW images in this kind of camera are not so great so fine JPEG after setting the preferable modifications to the camera JPEG processing is a way to go in my opinion. Also choosing RAW format you loose some of the consumer convenient camera shooting options...
+Marin Knežević I agree, most users of this camera will never bother with RAW, but personally I am so used to RAW at this point I mostly ignore JPEG in any camera that has RAW.
Great tour through the camera and features.... I see some similarities between this and the g7... The g7 with the 14-140mm lens cost around $900... My question is, is the g7 that better above from this to justify the price difference? (as background I'm new to photography and I want to invest in a good camera that can do RAW images and 4k video and most of the comments are towards the g7 but doing some research found this model)
Hi there, first things first, congratulations for the excellent, highly comprehensive review! I bought this camera second hand in mint condition two days ago for just 100 dollars, and like you said, I can't believe the feature set it has! Yes, the image quality is not comparable to that of a camera with a bigger sensor, but for the money, you get a lot of camera!
Definetely want to get this camera. My issue is that I'll be filming more than taking still. How much video can I record off a single battery? Also, where would the best place be to get additional batteries. I'm going to need a place that ships internationally :(
this was an excellent review, i am excited for my FZ300's arrival and you gained a new sub. great job and thank you for solidifying my choice of camera.
I just want to join the many commenters that this was a brilliant review. especially loved the section starting at 7:34 where you explain the 4K zoom ranges. I think Panasonic has made a perfect decision when they selected a 12M sensor for a 4K camera, exactly the same concept as in the Sony A7S. I have the FZ2000, and I'd prefer a 12M sensor in the FZ2000, too. This way I wouldn't have the crazy 36mm crop in 4K. The 27mm 4K crop on the FZ300 is absolutely fine.
Excelente review! So at the end you mentioned the 1000.. should I not spend a little more and go directly for the 1000? Since it is the same camera but with larger view finder...
I am thinking about buying the Lumix FZ1000 Mk2 and was hoping you are going to review this new camera. You have done so many great reviews and have helped me purchase my curent cameras. Thanks!
The review is just great, thank you! I was debating so much between the FZ300 and the FZ1000 but eventually pulled the trigger on the FZ1000. I love the FZ300 and wanted it more, but for 150$ more ($620) I can't refuse the FZ1000..the quality diff is just too big when there isn't enough light.
Great review, many thanks! When you say this is the best camera in it's class, do you include the fz1000 as well? In other words, is it worth to pay the bit more money for the FZ1000 with the bigger sensor or not? Thanks!
+Balazs Szladovits Not, TZ1000 is a class of its own. No matter what, senosr size is still a big deal and really affects image quality. I would always pay more for bigger sensor. For me, FZ300 is in class with other super zooms like Canon SX60, Nikon P900 and similar.
Many thanks for your quick reply! So between the 300 and 1000, you would chose the 1000? Even if it's not weatherproof, and doesn't have the 2.8 all the way? thanks again
Your videos are excellent, you make things very clear and easy to follow. This will most likely be next camera I buy. Well done you took great videos and pictures as well.
I love your videos, technical depth is extremely good but you missed an important point, the electronic zoom is SLOW and overshoots best setting. In at least mine it also moved back a bit after I released rocker spoiling the composition. Had zoom been mechanical this would be the perfect camera. Because of this I traded it in for the Panasonic D85 and the 14-140mm lens which ended up being much better for my use. Keep up the great work, you are the best in the business.
Hi, Virtually new to digital photography. Your review was great, but somehow I was looking also for some comment about image quality, specifically color rendition, without adjustment. In other places read that FZ300 doesn't capture yellows well. Have a nice day.
Nice and detailed review, thanks. How would you compare it to the lumix fz80? I am between these two. The fz80 is newer with more reach and cheaper. The fz300 has the flip out screen and the constant f2.8. I mainly need it for video and photographing birds. Many thanks in advance.
I still don't fully understand my Panasonic Lumix FZ300 and how to choose the best video settings for outdoors, but the Gric Canon was hsyterical...........
"anyways, usually you won't be shooting at the sun.." 😅 That was funny dude. Great video too! I ordered mine on Friday from Amazon. Got the film package with lots of accessories. Should be here by Monday, just in time for our trip to Rome the following weekend 😀 super excited, can't wait to make some awesome videos for my own channel! Thank you for all the information. Cheers
perla pearls it's awesome for what I use it for. If you are aspiring to be a professional photographer or looking for something that DSLR shots get you, then I'd spend the extra money and get a DSLR. That's not to say it takes bad pictures by any means! It's actually pretty great for pics in both day and night. It has so many settings that once you learn the camera, you can get the perfect shot just about anywhere. I use it for alot of video too and I think that is prob where it shines the most. You have the option to shoot in 4k for one which alot of other cameras don't and it has an external mic port which is essential if you are making videos for RUclips and such. I recommend checking out my channel (sorry, I had to plug it lol) to see the video for yourself. I have my last two videos were filmed using it. I just haven't had a lot of time to edit the others from the trip or make a review of the camera. I plan to though so definitely subscribe if you want and I'll try to have it up in the next too weeks. I'm definitely due for a video upload but if you can't wait, I would recommend it for the amateur photographer or videographer. I love it and it's the best camera for what I need right now in my price range. Check out my unboxing of it, I give some deets on that video as well. Do your research, that's my best advice. I did for almost 6 months before I got my camera making sure it was had everything I wanted for my money. Hope that helped, sorry for the long reply :P cheers
Thank you so much for replying. I'm definitely going to be checking out your last two videos. I want both a camera where I can take pictures and do videos and this is in my price range. I was planning on buying another camera but it is twice the price of this camera.
Have been using the FZ200 for almost two years and have an FZ300 being delivered Friday, February 3rd. As for shooting into the sun, have several photos with morning or evening sun through trees and not hidden behind them, with the foilage in the foreground green, grass on the ground green and the warm light beams shining on the ground exposed in its true color, just as seen, without flare! Started avidly shooting 35mm film in 1977. Never was able to do that even with the Canon 85 f1.2L FD lens. The Leica designed lens on this is superb! This old man is having a blast with the FZ200 and the FZ300 will make my days a bit more fun with all the added features. Used to carry an FTb QL, F-1 w/motordrive and EOS-1 with booster and of course all the lenses. No more! This one little camera is all I need and photography is again a daily pleasure. Zedroth Entertainment - How was the trip to Rome?
Hello. Excellent review of this camera. One of the things I would like to know is you opinion of its focusing ability for fast moving objects that are 50 to 200m away from you. Could you please comment on that?
Hello Sir, please I have the same type of camera which I bought last and I wasn’t using it for just a couple of months with the battery taken out.Just last week I fix the battery back in and the camera won’t work again.I tried switching it on and there was no green light. Please, what do I do? Thanks in advance.
Hi, nice video. I recently bought this Panasonic fz300 camera. But I found on the lens, 3-4 mm from the edge of the lens, a scratch, about 1 mm, the thickness of a needle tip! Can it affect my photos or movies, are there other things like that? Thanks.
Wow, great review. One question. Does the LA7 adapter tube fit this camera. I read it's for the FZ200 but will work on the FZ300. Thanks again for the review. Cheers
Hello, nice descriptive review...I have decided to buy Canon 700D, but after watching this review I am confused. Could you please guide me which one is better.
+DrChetan Bhagwat 700D is far better camera regarding image quality, but you'll need to learn RAW processing to get most out of it and probably buy some extra lenses besides kit lens. If you just want to have good images and video without all the fuss, get FZ300.
Thank you for the excellent video. The Polarizing Lens is amazing - I have never seen that before but I know for use I would have benefitted from it many many times. Can you please tell me exactly what it is so I can research and buy one - thank you
Great video!!! Thank you! It's been 2 1/2 years since you made this tutorial. Is this still the camera you recommend??? I do like the bigger sensor on the fz1000, but the touching screen and the longer zoom on the fz300 is so useful. For photography is the fz1000 a lot better???? And the G7?? A lot better than the z1000??? So many choices lol..... When I make my mind..... I will come and use your link. I sure appreciate how you respond to everyone. Thank you again!
Thank you so much for making and sharing this video. I just purchased my FZ300 a week ago. Your overview was very helpful. Oh, I agree with another person who commented about your video, that your sound when showing the camera details (closeup) was much better than when you were using the on camera mic during the "talking head" portion. Just for your future improvement not being too critical (I hope). ;-)
Yeah, I'm using dedicated sound recorder for voiceovers and just an ordinary low-end lavalier mic for intro and outro...I'll have to do soemthing about sound, I am not satisfied with it myself for some time now.
Really liked your video on the FZ300. I just ordered. I've love my Canon SX50 but I'd like something more updated. I've already bought and returned FZ1000 and FZ80. I almost gave up but a rep from B&H told me about the FZ300. One thing I really like about the Canon and Nikon super zoom bridges is the "snap-back" button on the outside of the Lense barrel. Really good for readjusting wildlife shooting when the subject moves. Q: Do you think I could customize the programmable button on the left side of the lenses barrel on the FZ300 to step zoom to simulate the button? Thank you.
If I recall correctly, step zoom is available only via standard zoom ring or zoom rocker dial; you cannot use it in a way you describe (snap-back). Don't let this turn you away, this is better camera than any Canon and Nikon super zoom.
as a 2x fz1000 user.. i wouldnt underestimate this cameras capability for professional use... sharpness is on total different level even from proffesional dslrs.. i am not even comparing it with entry level dslrs..
+Giannis Chatzis meaning is not really that very sharp? Was potentially interested in this camera as a dslr backup, but sharpness is the main criteria for me when choosing a camera. Would you please elaborate?
I just got a Panasonic Lumix FZ300 and I am wondering how to set it up for video recording. By just not setting anything up in the camera and just pushing the red video record button, I have not managed to take one video without it being recorded in a very jerky fashion. Anything I try, the clips always show very jittery. Even resetting the camera didn't make a difference. I have tried it with the stabilization 'on' and 'off' - the clips are never smooth. I love the camera for still photography, no problem in that regard but, the video function is only frustrating so far. My old Canon D20 water camera is easy by comparison: just click the record button and it takes awesome stabilized videos. Can you give me a tip as to what to do to get my FZ300 to record jitter-free video ?
This is a fantastic review. What sort of shotgun mic would you recommend for this? While I believe that the Panasonic model MS-2 may offer customization control via the camera menu, I do not believe the expected audio quality is up to par.
Hi very good review!! did you also noticed a wobbly/jello effect in the video shoots? i find that very annoying....otherwise the quality would be superb...
Hello, great review. I just bought the camera and will be receiving it soon. I'm wondering which filters, SD cards and any other accessories you would recommend for landscape and wildlife photography. Thanks!
Thanks! I have good experinence with SanDisk cards, for this camera you will need U3 labeled card (ultra high speed 3). Filters - any well known brand will be great like Marumi, B+W, Hoya... I use Marumi. YOu only need one filter - circular polarizer and perhaps ND filters if you want to make long exposures on tripod.
Hi, can you tell me how you transfer photos and video to your computer with the supplied USB cable? The only cable I received was an AV/Out USB cable and all it did was transfer BMP files. I don't see a port for micro-USB. All my other cameras transfer just fine and are recognized.
Love your review mate - very objective statements, comprehensive and with your own witty humour thrown in :-) I have been going back and forth whether to proceed with this camera for travelling (sometimes you just feel like a break from lugging around the DSLR), and your review has sold it for me :-)
Uh, that's a tough one! TZ100 has visibly better sensor (colors, dynamic range, high ISO), but 200mm eq. is not even close enough for bird photography. Your best choice would be some small entry level DSLR like Canon 100D with 55-250mm lens. It will give you 400m eq. reach and big sensor for good detail reproduction (birds feathers) and high ISO. Check the heron shots I took with that lens and you will se what I'm talking about. camerahoarders.com/canon-ef-s-55-250mm-f4-5-6-is-stm-telephoto-lens-review/
thanks for the review. and for mentioning that dslrs are better. i intended to buy this camera. but can u recomment the best mirrorless or bridge camera under $800.
"Best" camera is always a relative term and depends on your needs. Look into Panaosnic FZ1000 and Sony RX10 as bridge cameras, and Olympus E-M10, Panaosnic G7 or Sony A6000 for mirrorless.
Great review. I was looking for something more detailed than usual basic reviews. Thanks. Any thoughts as to comparison of this camera to Canon PowerShot G3 X? Both are in the same utility/use cases group, although Canon got bigger sensor and more expensive.
hi, very good review, and from the review swings me to wanting to buy, but just picking up on something, from the zoom, which camera would you say that will be good for shooting cars, by that i mean video and zooming in as they drive away without it being out of focus. oh and have external mic jack just in case the internal mic is not good enough. dont really want to spend anymore that 250 GBP.....thanks for any reply. didnt realise that this fz300 is over 400...its second hand im looking at .
I'm not sure you'll find a camera in this price range that will to that. I guess you want to record drag races. I haven't tried similar scenario with FZ300 - thanks for bringing this idea to my attention; I will try to test it on future camera reviews. Right now, your best move might be to go to some gear forum like dpreview and ask for someone who has FZ300 tries it in this situation.
Hi not so much drag racing, but car meets, still cars video around them....and as they leave meets, but if they put their foot down, for the camera to zoom in on them as they speed off staying in focus....thanks
Thanks for creating this 'walk through' video of this camera. Do you know if the AF system is both CDAF and PDAF (phase detect auto focus) or is it only CDAF (contrast detect auto focus)?
Hi. Great Review of the FZ300. I have a problem with my FZ300. When Recording I 4K Mode, and Transfering The FIle To My Computer For Review, The File Is Not VIewable. I have to Convert the file to view. Is there a setting In the Camera to allow for playback of the video file to computer, without having to convert it?
Great, thanks for the help you bring for the rest of us! I have a couple of questions. Does time lapse camera directly or must be done on the PC? Can you set the time between shots? My apologies for my bad english! :)
Time lapse is done in the camera, you get a finished video file. Time between shots can be set as you like, from 1 second to 99 minutes. Video file can be any resolution (4k/1080/720/vga) or frame rate (60/30/15/7.5/6/3/1p whatever).
The fact that this camera is still being produced and I bought one last week shows how good it still is after 6 years production, well done panaosonic and Lecia and well done you for making such a good video
Is Lecia his wife?
I just scored a used one. Have had the FZ200 for years and it's been having some electronic issues lately. Very excited about it.
Thank you for the excellent review. I purchased this camera three days ago to replace my DMC-GX7 which just fried it's sensor. OUTSTANDING TUTORIAL. I WAS LOOKING HARD AT THIS CAMERA FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS. THIS TUTORIAL SOLD ME.
RONALD CRABTREE did you get it, like it?
I was looking at it for about 6 months. I liked Cameradecision as a site.
Excellent tutorial, initially I was not sure about buying this camera, but he has reminded me the very reason why I consider this camera in the 1st place, that is, to have fun, the primary objective of this camera is to have fun. and enjoy the outdoor more.
Just watched this again having bought mine about two years ago now. Very pleased with this camera!!!......Laurie

Brilliant video! I am from the UK and I could listen to your accent all day long! It is also quite obvious that you know what you are talking about! I think you have made my mind up for me.
Informative and to the point. All reviews should be like this. All I needed to know in 20 minutes, tnx!

Very well made. The filter tip backed with a demo shows you care about your craft. Excellent.
@Joao Troples: Yes, FZ300 is still the best ultra zoom in my opinion, but FZ1000 is even better because of that nice sensor. Go for FZ1000.
Highly technical and thorough review. I like it. And I also appreciate your concise summary of the camera and its features. Well done!

Thank you for the excellent concise review.I can't wait to have my fz300 delivered now for use for my Japan trip.

This was such a good thorough review for this camera. Well done.
+Camerahoarders fuji finepix s1 is weather sealed super zoom too.
Tnx for the tip, i forgot about Fuji.
Agreed. I have been using the FZ200 and tried RAW. Huge file size and I see no benefit really in the final output. I went back to JPEG.
Yes, G7 with 14-140 will be better than FZ300.
Outstanding and informative video. We both love the FZ300 . Thank you for the excellent video.
I'm seriously considering buying this! First I was thinking about the FZ-82/FZ-80 but this one blows it out of the bank!
Rasmus Vainio
Blows it out to the water. 👍🏻
@@agrafes6 Blows it out of the water...
Definetely want to get this camera. My issue is that I'll be filming more than taking still. How much video can I record off a single battery? Also, where would the best place be to get additional batteries. I'm going to need a place that ships internationally :(
Thanks. You answered all my questions and more. I’ve been looking for a camera with Silent mode for wildlife. Looks like this is it.
Excellent review, thanks.
The example of zooming capabilities was great. And, the tips about polarizing filter and RAW format are really useful.
One of the best reviews on RUclips in general. Thank you!
this was an excellent review, i am excited for my FZ300's arrival and you gained a new sub. great job and thank you for solidifying my choice of camera.
You know what, this was mostly a (helpful) guide with some personal opinions, which made it a review...
Thanks man!
Thank you. I been watching hours and hours of videos about this camera. Did learn more in your 20 minutes than all others together. Well done......
@2:18 its not true that its the only camera with weather sealed, Fujifilm S1 too has wather seal
Excelente review!
So at the end you mentioned the 1000.. should I not spend a little more and go directly for the 1000? Since it is the same camera but with larger view finder...
Just ordered one. The features are mind blowing. I had to grab it.
Ooooh - Otherland! One of my favorite books of all time! :)
I am thinking about buying the Lumix FZ1000 Mk2 and was hoping you are going to review this new camera. You have done so many great reviews and have helped me purchase my curent cameras. Thanks!
Great video, would you say this camera or G7 has better focus and video?
Best review of this camera ever.
Good seemingly unbiased review. Have always liked Panasonic kit!
Yes. BIgger sensor really makes the difference.
FZ300. F/2.8 really makes the difference + 600mm vs 720mm eq. is not that much in real life.
I still don't fully understand my Panasonic Lumix FZ300 and how to choose the best video settings for outdoors, but the Gric Canon was hsyterical...........
"anyways, usually you won't be shooting at the sun.." 😅
That was funny dude. Great video too! I ordered mine on Friday from Amazon. Got the film package with lots of accessories. Should be here by Monday, just in time for our trip to Rome the following weekend 😀 super excited, can't wait to make some awesome videos for my own channel! Thank you for all the information. Cheers
Enjoy the trip! :)
Zedroth Entertainment how do you like the camera? I want to order one but idk lol
perla pearls it's awesome for what I use it for.
Mine is arriving in the next 2 days, Looking forward to it!. Thanks for the great and informative review.
Can you please tell me exactly what it is so I can research and buy one - thank you
Thanks! Just google for polarizing filter, there's plenty of information and brands producing it.
Thank you! Can it be connected to PC directly for streaming?
Best review I've seen for this camera. Excellent job ~ thanks!
Thank you so much for making and sharing this video. I just purchased my FZ300 a week ago. Your overview was very helpful. Oh, I agree with another person who commented about your video, that your sound when showing the camera details (closeup) was much better than when you were using the on camera mic during the "talking head" portion. Just for your future improvement not being too critical (I hope). ;-)
Yeah, I'm using dedicated sound recorder for voiceovers and just an ordinary low-end lavalier mic for intro and outro...I'll have to do soemthing about sound, I am not satisfied with it myself for some time now.
this would be my first camera ...would you recommend this ? mostly for documentaries , youtube reviews / unboxings and hopefully short films
Would you please elaborate?
i mean its way more than sharp. :)
Great review. One question, you didn't feel the lack of built in ND filters was a big miss for video?
Not particulary... but I didn't shoot a lot of videos on this camera.
This is a fantastic review. What sort of shotgun mic would you recommend for this? While I believe that the Panasonic model MS-2 may offer customization control via the camera menu, I do not believe the expected audio quality is up to par.
Try with Rode video mic pro. What do you intednd to record? SOund is notoriously hard to record, much harder than video in my experience.
Hi very good review!! did you also noticed a wobbly/jello effect in the video shoots? i find that very annoying....otherwise the quality would be superb...
Yes, there is some jello but I've seen worse...
its minor. g7 is worse.
If you see the wobble effect when camera is on a tripod, turn the image stabilization off. IS is to be used only when handheld.
How is the image and video quality in low light or ‘gray spot’ mixed with dim and bright?
And that folks, is how it’s done ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great video and commentary. Already have one and just got the g85 as my upgrade. I’ll be using my fz300 as my backup.
Hi, can you tell me how you transfer photos and video to your computer with the supplied USB cable? The only cable I received was an AV/Out USB cable and all it did was transfer BMP files. I don't see a port for micro-USB. All my other cameras transfer just fine and are recognized.
You are usually better off with a card reader. I never connect any of my cameras to PC to transfer photos or videos.
Love your review mate - very objective statements, comprehensive and with your own witty humour thrown in :-) I have been going back and forth whether to proceed with this camera for travelling (sometimes you just feel like a break from lugging around the DSLR), and your review has sold it for me :-)
Hey how would you compare the fz300 with the tz100 with the larger sensor? I am a hiker and like taking photo's of birds.
I've the fz200 and i think the fz300 is a great successor..! nice review btw..
Get out of here you dirty FZ200ER, we don't take kindly to your kind round here .
Jk: www.co.mom ;)
Would you recommend this camera for a new indie film maker? If not what camera would you recommend?
Very professional and serious review!
The way you move it, like nothing. makes me nervous I just got the camera and I’m making sure I’m really careful with it...
thanks for the review. and for mentioning that dslrs are better. i intended to buy this camera. but can u recomment the best mirrorless or bridge camera under $800.
"Best" camera is always a relative term and depends on your needs. Look into Panaosnic FZ1000 and Sony RX10 as bridge cameras, and Olympus E-M10, Panaosnic G7 or Sony A6000 for mirrorless.
A brilliant tutorial, and may I compliment you on your command of the English language!
Thank you :)
Excellent review!! Thank you very much!
Hi great review what would you recommend today as a great bridge camera 4k thanks see you and stay safe
As affordable solution Panasonic FZ1000 or Sony RX10 mark I or II. As more expensive solution Sony RX10 III or IV.
Hello,
How is the Cam compared to 18mp Sony HX90V ?
Also from 4k Video wats the Picture quality and size (Extracted picture from 4k video) ?
Thanks for creating this 'walk through' video of this camera. Do you know if the AF system is both CDAF and PDAF (phase detect auto focus) or is it only CDAF (contrast detect auto focus)?
If I am not mistaken all Panasonic cameras use only contrast detect system.
It's not about the camera, what software do you use to playback videos? Try VLC player, it's free and plays pretty much everything.
I'm happy with your review it helped me decide that this is the camera I want.
Great review! Very informative and comprehensive. What circular polarizer are you using here?
Thanks! It is Hama filter, low to medium range german brand popular here in Europe, theirs filters are rather good IMO.
Gracias, you are so kind!! :)
thank you from NORWAY,THIS IS GOD 20MIN MISTER.
