Thanks for your video. From the moment Panasonic announced the fz2500 I had interest in it. I Pre-ordered it. I have to this day looking through magazines and I have found nothing. What a shame Panasonic keep there mighty fz2500 a secret. I replaced my fz1000, my primary use for the 2500 is high speed motor racing and with the in built ND filter I get a brilliant effect of blur, slow shutter speed... Cheers
Nice Steve! Thanks for the comments mate. They are really great cameras i am surprised more people don't talk about how great they are for photos and videos.

Here is a tip for the round lens hood. There is a process to getting it to stay on. Try it first with the lens hood off until you get it down. With hood off, take the lens cap and rotate to 90 degrees one way (text will be 90 degrees sideways). Then place on front of lens in the 90 degree orientation, once on, then twist to rotate to 9o degrees back to straight text on cap and violla, cap stays on! Let me know if it worked for you, it did for me and I'm glad to know and share!
Hi Shane, you have great voice clear and precise by the way. My name is Joe, I live South East of London.I have the same Panasonic Lumix 2000/2500 Camera. I use it for internal project filming around the NHS Trust. Yes the lens cap issue... When my lens is not needed, I leave dangling on the end of a strong piece of string. I sorted out the lens cap problem by adding a filter to the lens and then the lens cap, and it really grips the filter really well. Hope this is of some help. I have 12 various cameras, Sony's, Canon, mirrorless and so forth. I am no pro, but still learning. Would love here and see more of your shows too. Excellent Job Shane thoums up and all the very best., Joe. I give you 5 ?Stars Plus..
I waited and bought in Sept18 but expected way better still photo performance (especially with the Leica lens). The video features (and quality) are impressive, but the lack of crisp stills is a problem. I am just amateur but I have tried a lot of different ways and reliable focus is the issue.
The photo focus is great have you tried a few of the different focus modes as well? I use this quite a lot for certain photos in the studio here and it seems to work pretty well. I am not a pro-photographer but I create a lot of video content and for me, it seems fine. There's a lot of people using this camera for outdoor photography too I am sure you might be able to find some great tips online for improving the shots.
Thanks, love it! Great for filming surf and people often ask what I use. I just shoot for fun and there is a certain amount of freedom in having a fixed lens.. keeps it simple and saves $$$
Thanks for all your valued info.Better late than never I found the Lens Cap engages and stays put much better when the hood is reversed.Weird but very noticeable.Easy enough to flip the hood before shooting.
Hy Geeky, Do you know if FZ2500 model got HDMI LIVE mode and keep sending video signal trough the HDMI out put during filming ? ( My DMC-FZ300 LUMIX shutdown the monitor and give me a nice black window !!! ) PS : Same limitation on GH7
I'm going to be the campground host at the Slough Creek Campground in Yellowstone NP this Summer for 4 months and need a secondary camera in addition to my Sonya7iii w/200-600mm for wildlife photography and I was told this is a good camera. I just saw that there's a Valentine's Day sale which brings it down to $749!!!! I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on this bad boy ASAP!!!
Enjoyed your video on the Fz2500 - which I also have & enjoy. After loosing my lens snap on cover ( very weak springs ) I ordered an aftermarket one from Amazon & the springs are much stronger. Also I've moved the exposure comp to the front wheel - I use it fairly often - & now have made the late expos button into my focus - separating focus from the shutter & yet it having close to the shutter button. I've gotten every Fn button - including the ones on the touch screen - assigned to a purpose. I'm around 3 or so years into photography & I couldn't be happier with the Fz2500 to be learning on. I hope in the future Panasonic comes out with a Fz3000 ? that is improved & more dedicated for stills shooting.
Not sure if a got a bad one but after a year and 1/2 my fz2500 lens motor gears broke. Panasonic quoted me 500+ to replace. I did not use the camera more then 30 times and was well cared for. I wound up replacing the motor myself watching youtube tutorials and worked well for another year. Just recently my touch screen started to look all blocky and like colored monochrome . I checked all the ribbon cables and everything looks fine, clean and seated correct. Not sure if its the lcd touch screen going bad. Also is it normal in manual mode edges of things has that blue glitch pixels. I noticed the one in this video is the same(mine always did that from the beginning) To me this camera was not worth the money and I should have went with the sony equivalent at the time.
Sorry about the spelling and grammar in my last comments!, Shane...because I suffer with Dyslexia. First time responding to a review....see you on the next time around...All the very best, Joe.
hi man tnx for your good review i've ask about time of recording, how many minutes does it record? does it have limitation in recording does it have AC port ? for record without batteryexcuse me for my bad english
There is no limitation on it's recording. if you use a SDXC card you can record up to 96GB file size (several hours) before it does a file split on the card. This is why it's a great video camera. On 1 battery you can record over 1 hour of 4k video before the battery will go flat.
Great review! Now I want to replace my FZ1000 for the FZ2500. The one criticism I have is the flimsy lens cap. Does nobody allow for an anchor cord to hang the lens cap on these days? I remember it as de rigour in the distant past.
Hey Shane can you please tell me how this camera is in low light? I want work filming in night dance parties and need to see how great is this Camera...can you tell me your opinion?? Thanks
It's usable but not amazing. I did a low light comparison between this and the G85 on another video. If you search for FZ2500 vs G85 you should see it in the search results. There's a low light test comparison on there which will give you some visible information. ☺️
Thanks for your video Shan. Quick question , would you say that this is an OK camera for someone who has never shot video but now has the time to give it a go? Thanks for any advice, Regards Terry
Hi Terry, Overall yes. It's a very easy camera to get going with being that you won't have to learn a lot about lenses and so forth. It's a bit more point and shoot than some other Panasonic cameras. The only small downside really is in 4k the stabiliser isn't as good as the G85 for example but in 1080p mode the stabiliser is awesome. If you're going to be doing a lot of hand shooting and haven't done any before I would say get the G85 if 4k is what you're looking for. If you're using a tripod this is an awesome camera and has more video/audio/quality settings.
Do you need a headphone jack? The FZ2500 is a great video camera but I think the stabilizer on the G85 is way better and it has a larger sensor. That said though it comes down to if you want a point and shoot option or if you're looking to use different lenses.
Looking for a camera to shoot long videos for a podcast. Does the fz2500 shoot long videos?? Or does it clip them in short 15min videos? I do not want to buy a camcorder but i will if i need to. Please let me know thanks
We changed our gh4s for 5 of these babys for wedding film shoots no more bags with lens everywhere, they turn out amazing shots everytime we have them running vlog on all of them and for the money very little else comes close, plus when you hook up a atmos ninja you get 10bit 4.2.2 footage which is tottaly unheard of in cameras of this price, iwould recomend for everyone
What is the manual focus like during a zip zoom? If you auto focus on a far distant subject at maximum zoom, then switch to manual focus mode and fast zoom out to wide and back in again at close up, does the lens maintain focus throughout the range and hold it at the wide angle end? Almost performing like a par focal lens ( although I think the lens itself is not actually a par focal lens?) Thanks
Hy Geeky, Do you know if FZ2500 model got HDMI LIVE mode and keep sending video signal trough the HDMI out put during filming ? ( My DMC-FZ300 LUMIX shutdown the monitor and give me a nice black window !!! ....Same limitation on GH7 !! )
Nice! You won't regret it. It's a really great camera and will save you a lot of money not needing to buy a lot of different lenses. The video quality and audio options are both great so I am pretty certain you'll love it.
Shane, I am looking for a bridge camera like the FZ2500 for filming hunts. I am considering the FZ2500 and the Sony RX10iii and Sony RX10iv. This will be used mainly for video and shots will be on field edges to dense timber. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Hi Nicholas. I haven't used the Sony before but I much prefer the G85 now over this camera. I might make a follow up video about why but the main reason is the lack of 4k stabilisation on the FZ2500.
Hi! Can this camera record while using the HDMI OUT? I'm asking this because the Panasonic FZ 1000 and FZ 1000 II, when you connect it to a monitor or video mixer (using its HDMI connector), the cammera cannot record on the SD card in the same time. Thanks!
thanks for all those videos, As an owner of the fz2000 I think your stabilizer may not work correctly, i have never had that much jitter and shaking, though I only use the standard mode in full hd
Hi, I'm about to start recording short films. Since I'm on a tight budget, but still want decent video, would you recommend the Lumix FZ2500, the Sony Alpha ZV-E10, or an Insta360? I'm also interested in photography, but I know I need to focus on film at least for now. I plan on filming inside and outside, sometimes walking, but not that much. Thanks a lot in advance.
The ZVE10 is a better option than the FZ2500 given the fact you can get a good lens at some point in time. I would recommend the Panasonic G9 over both of them if you plan on doing handheld work and you don't need to record for more than 30mins at a time. The G9 gives you pro features at an absolute steal of a price. You can also get the inexpensive 25mm f1.7 prime lens for the G9 and it'll be a great visual if you're happy doing some manual focus or tap to focus in AF mode.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy thanks a lot! I really appreciate it! I'll check on the other ones you recommended. Since this is a project I'm starting on my own, I'm trying not to invest so much, in case I just blew it hehe. Thanks again! Will keep looking at your awesome videos!
Hello Shane,Thank you for this review. I will preface my question by saying that I am a novice in terms of using cameras/camcorders. I purchased the FZ2500 to replace my JVC Everio camcorder, which did not have an external mic plugin. my previous videos - knitting tutorial videos on my youtube channel - have white/pink noise from the camera, and I don't have the expertise (not yet at least) to figure out how to remove. I noticed that the sound on your video is crystal clear, how do you achieve that? Specifically, what kind of mic, voice processing software, if any, do use? and do you use the same with your FZ2500 camera? Thank you!
Hi there, I use final cut for my video editing. The audio pack I use is the RodeLink Filmmaker kit which is a wireless pack. The sound I am hearing on your videos sounds to me like a shotgun mic that has a lot of noise built in (like one that clips to the camera). Some of those mics have a lot of self noise you can't get rid of. I would also try lowering the internal audio/recording gain of the camera down to -12 and if your mic has an option to change the settings click around and see what works. On the majority of my videos the audio remains untouched or I just add a simple compressor to it. The preamps in the FZ2500 are great so odds are it's your mic. If you prefer a shotgun style mic try the Takstar. I did a review on it a while back and I think actually I used the FZ2500 for that test as well. Regards. :-)
Leaving the camera on P mode means the camera adjusts the aperture and shutter speed, correct? It has manual focus option too, correct? I am considering buying this Camera in 10 days.
Hi Raymond. Yes, P is an automatic mode but you have Manual movie and photo modes too. Just tap on the icon on the screen to change to manual in video mode or select the M on the camera for the manual photo mode.
Just taken delivery of my 2000 and so far, love it! Thanks for a very useful video. Would appreciate your advice on a suitable flash unit that also has video light capability. I am only going to use it for amature use although I had, in a previous life, been a pro so understand the limitations of such a unit.Thanks.
Thanks for the excellent video. I own 2 fz2500, but I am a little frustrated since all my footage is always noisy. How can I get better images without noise using this camera? Thank you very much!!!
What is the filter size? Not shown on the lens, listed in Owners Manual, or the mfg WEB site, or Adoroma and AMAZON listing. BUT I can see the threading on the lens.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Ive always have a UV or clear for protection of the glass. I'll call Adoroma on a work day. Thanks for responding and I REALLY ENJOYED your honest vid on the FZ2500, a nice laid-back style
Panasonic needs to make a replacement for this with phase-detect autofocus. I think it would sell extremely well, especially since Sony is not making an RX10 V.
Thanks, but as a TV guy who once owned a $75,000 Sony betacam camera, it's always about the zoom in, focus, then having it all in focus from that point in or out no matter what you chose to do later. Great review.
Hey man, I really need your help. I bought fz2500 and now im getting very grainy or pixelated video footage. I dont know what is happening even under sun light or it's because of the card that i m using(Sandisk Ultra SDHC 1 cl10? Problem is always there not matter what settings are. Help!
Is there any chance you can upload a sample so I can check it out? I use these cards - Sandisk Extreme Pro SDXC cards are great for 4K footage and it won't split the files. I would make sure you're using the proper video setting modes. Also change your ISO to Auto and film in the "P" settings on MP4 or MOV and see if it helps. I haven't used that exact card but I don't really use any SDHC cards anymore because they are a lot slower and will split files every 4GB. I would also maybe do a full reset on the camera in case you knocked a setting you're unsure causing issues. Does it take photos okay? This is a good way to find out if the camera is actually defective or something else. If the Auto ISO mode and P mode i mention doesn't help the footage try a full reset. Let me know how you go either way.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Thank You very much for response. I did best try i could including reset original setting with P mode and auto ISO. It seem like problem only comes when i use macro zoom 24-72. I dont know if that happens with yours fz2500. If you dont mind please give me some of your setting while you shooting video. Thank You very much. Please check out these samples - drive.google.com/drive/folders/1nR7sBVp_wvuZz3wFpgXFE3FOxmMIFSpm?usp=sharing
I was considering buying the G85, but after see FZ2500 review I became confused, Currently I am using M6 from Canon, and want move to Lumix coz I am more interested in Video, for me Stabilizer is not a big problem coz I had Stabilizer. Is it the big deal if I buy FZ2500? And how about Video quality, which ine better?FYI, In my country (Indonesia) G85 and FZ2500 has the same price.
Yes, the worst ever lens cap which is why they (have to) supply a safety securing string/strap which the user has to attach/fit themselves. If you don't you will lose the lens cap for sure! But for 4K video using the power zoom for smooth operation is the best.
The G85 is essentially just as good to be honest except the G85 has a better stabiliser. In terms of video quality they are comparable but you do also have the advantage of changing lenses with the G85. I am pretty sure the FZ2500 has more options overall for video but the G85 is a great camera. I was surprised how nice it was when I got it even after owning a GH5.
hello! scusme, i,am italian men, no speak english, ma tu mi consigli, fz 2500 for video family and youtube video? thank you from genova italy.. io look ever you video! you is very very best!
Not mentioned: 1) CENTERED Tripod mount 2) Side access to SD card while still on a tripod 3) 4K Post Process 8Mp still shot modes .... especially focus stacking 4) Internally zooming and focusing .... lens barrel does NOT move once extended 5) fully articulated LCD touch screen
Did you happen to accidentally change the shutter speed? If you did the photos will be blurry. Do a full reset on the camera. The FZ2500 takes really great photos.
AF Contrast Detect suffers HOWEVER if you use MANUAL FOCUS ..........WOW!! MF is far superior to the AF on the Lumix Line of cameras prior to the latest with PHASE DETECT.
Thanks for your video.

Thanks for the review. Does this have a histogram in the menu? Thanks.
Hey! The guitar guy! Nice to see you on the camera side too man.
Thanks mate. I plan on doing way more videos this year now on here. :-)
Hello, how do you think it's supposed to have fz1000 sharper than 2000? Sorry, I wrote a translator.
Regards. :-)
Thank you! This is very helpful.
Do you recommend this one above the FZ1000? What SD Card should we use for it? v60 v90. Thanks for the video!
A V30 will be fine. Any U3 will be fast enough. ruclips.net/video/7u_uJVArtCY/видео.html
Just tap on the icon on the screen to change to manual in video mode or select the M on the camera for the manual photo mode.
it might just be me but it looks like you had your shutter speed too high on the g85
lens shade through it away. Use a UV filter on lens. Bob
Is it possible to charge this camera while filming? So my video footage is long format and maybe need to last longer than two hours
I don't believe so no. It came out long before USB-PD was a thing. You can use it with a dummy battery though.
Big thanks for your time Shan, regards Terry
Just taken delivery of my 2000 and so far, love it! Thanks for a very useful video. Would appreciate your advice on a suitable flash unit that also has video light capability. I am only going to use it for amature use although I had, in a previous life, been a pro so understand the limitations of such a unit.Thanks.
why sir panasonic still cannot put a 15000mm lense on this cam when nikon has already made 3000mm tele with their p1000.?
Thanks for the excellent video. I own 2 fz2500, but I am a little frustrated since all my footage is always noisy. How can I get better images without noise using this camera? Thank you very much!!!
Angelo Roncalli wel, do control the iso, limit auto iso for photos to 400 or 800, and do it manually for videos
Are there anyway to xtend it to 700mm?
There's a digital zoom on there as well but I am not sure if there's any other way to add attachments to it
What is the filter size? Not shown on the lens, listed in Owners Manual, or the mfg WEB site, or Adoroma and AMAZON listing. BUT I can see the threading on the lens.
I am sorry mate, I am not sure. The camera already has ND filters built-in if that's what you want the size for?
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Ive always have a UV or clear for protection of the glass. I'll call Adoroma on a work day. Thanks for responding and I REALLY ENJOYED your honest vid on the FZ2500, a nice laid-back style
67mm ... large,
note that there are some auxiliary 'wide angle adapters' available
@@Bonjour-World thanks and I can check my filter collection from years of old school photg.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy close-up filters.
Panasonic needs to make a replacement for this with phase-detect autofocus. I think it would sell extremely well, especially since Sony is not making an RX10 V.
Is the FZ zoom parfocal?
It manages to keep decent focus when you're zooming in if that's what you mean?
Thanks, but as a TV guy who once owned a $75,000 Sony betacam camera, it's always about the zoom in, focus, then having it all in focus from that point in or out no matter what you chose to do later. Great review.
Thanks Peter. I enjoy your channel by the way man. You're an animated guy to say the least hehe. :-)
Thanks. The funny thing is I've calmed down.
😆haha! Let's get some red bull into you before you film the next video then. lol
So, how is it after 4 years? 😉 I got one in mint condition yesterday as a camera for holidays etc so that I don't risk my lenses and GH5ii 😁.
I don't have it anymore sadly, but it was a great all-rounder camera. :)
What stabilizer do you recommend for this camera?
The DJI Ronin S works with it. It's what I have. The built-in stabilizer is awesome when shooting in 1080p. If you haven't tried it give it a shot.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Okay cool. Thanks I will try that.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Can you recommend a cheaper one for a much smaller budget?
Is this good for taking photos of cars and small tiktok videos? I want to take like crispy car photos
I would probably suggest going for the Panasonic G85 with the 12-35mm kit lens. That will give you better results than this for not much more money.
HOW TO REDUCE NOISE ISSUE IN FZ2500....PLZ HELP ME
Is it good compare to lumix g7??
I was considering buying the G85, but after see FZ2500 review I became confused, Currently I am using M6 from Canon, and want move to Lumix coz I am more interested in Video, for me Stabilizer is not a big problem coz I had Stabilizer. Is it the big deal if I buy FZ2500? And how about Video quality, which ine better?FYI, In my country (Indonesia) G85 and FZ2500 has the same price.
4 years later, what did you go with and are you happy with it?
@@adriennem3168 Currently i am using lumix GH5, fz2500 great camera but that is not for a professional need
Great review!
Thank you! 😀
what is the g of the camara i dont look for to heavy camara
Man good review but don't confuse me is this the fz2000 right
I believe the alternative name is the 2000 in some countries yep!
Yes, the worst ever lens cap which is why they (have to) supply a safety securing string/strap which the user has to attach/fit themselves. If you don't you will lose the lens cap for sure!
But for 4K video using the power zoom for smooth operation is the best.
I have used panasonic cameras for 25 years and all Panasonic's change fstop on zoom like hpx170
how does it compare to g85?
The G85 is essentially just as good to be honest except the G85 has a better stabiliser. In terms of video quality they are comparable but you do also have the advantage of changing lenses with the G85. I am pretty sure the FZ2500 has more options overall for video but the G85 is a great camera. I was surprised how nice it was when I got it even after owning a GH5.
That is mean g85 better than fz2500 .. Is there a big difference between 16 mp with 20mp .. still confuesd between 2 cameras .. please help ..
I now have a FZ2500 vs G85 video in editing. Stay tuned.
Your video is fantastic, thanks for sharing
Thanks Geraldo! :-)
Is this camera works for making Webseries...?
How does it sound when you play it through a Tweed amp and an overdrive pedal? Lol
What’s all this then?! My favorite leftie guitarist from down under has another channel!
thanks Hamid. I started uploading to this not too long ago. :-)
Geeky Nerdy Techy nice to see this other side, Shane. Dig all you do!
Thanks a lot Hamid :-)
This camera with bundle and extra batteries costed me $1000 Canadian dollar in 2020. Now only Camera causes more $2000. Why?
I would suggest buying a GH5 and a zoom lens instead if you can find them for a good deal.
Just the FZ2500 camera cost $1,000 American dollars today!
@@GeekyNerdyTechy no I'm going to buy Sony A6600 with Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens. This camera has way better auto focus than any Panasonic camera
I have this camera for over a year and the auto-focus is more than crappy. Even on a tripod, the focus seems uneven.
hello! scusme, i,am italian men, no speak english, ma tu mi consigli, fz 2500 for video family and youtube video? thank you from genova italy.. io look ever you video! you is very very best!
@@GeekyNerdyTechy tank you very much...my fryend.. io allora g80.. it piu good for my! my english is the best ah ah ah.
Can I change Lense
Not mentioned:
1) CENTERED Tripod mount
2) Side access to SD card while still on a tripod
3) 4K Post Process 8Mp still shot modes .... especially focus stacking
4) Internally zooming and focusing .... lens barrel does NOT move once extended
5) fully articulated LCD touch screen
If it only had a little further reach, and offered higher frame rates....
IMHO, its main advantage is unlimited recording time....
Unfortunately mine is extremely soft in stils :-(
Did you happen to accidentally change the shutter speed? If you did the photos will be blurry. Do a full reset on the camera. The FZ2500 takes really great photos.
I have both cams
Wait until you find an a7sii.
this camera shoot music video n nepali movie.
👍
AF Contrast Detect suffers HOWEVER if you use MANUAL FOCUS ..........WOW!! MF is far superior to the AF on the Lumix Line of cameras prior to the latest with PHASE DETECT.
More photos less talking to check performance

Just ordered one and can't wait to start shooting with it. Thanks for the review.
Hi Jerry! Great stuff. I hope you enjoy it. Please let me know how you go with it once you give it a go.
