Nokia is Finnish, yes. They were bought out by another Finnish company HMD Global, and their phones are now manufactured by the same company that manufactures iPhones, and others (Foxconn, in China).
Considering that its price is lower than its most direct competition, it seems like a great phone. There's some flaws, but maybe some of it can be improved via software updates.
Well in retrospect it was not a great phone. It died on me after 7 months and 3 weeks after repair half the display was gone and I had to send it back again.
Kevin Velásquez well my friend Ur king iPhone is loosing to the Nokia 6 in speed test the 6 just lost in booting and gaming ruclips.net/video/RxkqNtBR424/видео.html

I am a phone enthusiast and love watching and getting new phones be it mid rangers or flagships or flagship killers. I had a nokia 8 when it came out and i kept using it as my daily driver up until 2020 and honestly nokia 8 was the only phone I ever used that made me feel like I have lost my interest in phones because this phone had everything, literally everything i needed, and it was so snappy and smooth that I sometimes even miss it today with a far superior daily driver in my hand. This little friend of mine has died battery and broken C-port (happened due to accident and are the reasons i put it to rest), but nonetheless this guy remains in my drawer. Loved this phone so much, sad to see nokia not making good phones anymore.
Bruh same. It's been 4 years since i have had it. I'm finding it pretty hard to switch to a new phone but i have to since my dumbass broken screen and its rebooting randomly and the phone sound is too light now i dunno why, maybe some dmg. It wasn't like this before. Sigh. And it was so dang cheap. I'll never forget this phone. The others don't even come close but cost triple to what i got nokia 8 for 💕
@@ririretasu2779 so true man, i think this guy did well to you too by sticking around working for 4 years. Reeboting is probably due to faulty battery, sound due to damage to speakers or dust in it.
The Metropolis That's why I won't ditch my 6 from last year . It's a well built phone that should last the next couple of years....or until Nokia starts selling phones in the states again.
The Metropolis I actually bought the new 3310 through Best Buy here in NJ.....cool little feature phone, had the original in the early 2000's...but seriously after using smart phones the last 6 years I can't use feature phones full time anymore. Nice little backup though.

Got Oreo about three months ago. Quicker than my LG V30 or Blackberry Priv. Nokia isn't messing about with Android too much, so guess that's why the quicker update. Welcome back, Nokia!
the audio is excellent! I've heard it! only the picture that should be improved. but oh yeah you're right it is somewhat "slightly" behind the Samsung S8 and LG G6 when it comes to picture detail. you know, I am a Nokia user since it evolved in the market in 89 or 90(?) and also since the 3210 have been released on the market. somehow, I was thinking: "why is it that Nokia in the 90's was always "IN" and stand-out in the market on those days when it comes to sleek design compared to Erisson. And it was always made in FINLAND. Even it is imported in the Philippines. But now, somewhat Nokia was being "left far-behind" from other smartphones competitors (ugh!). hopefully, that Nokia would bring back the "glorious days" of their products. it MUST be made in Finland (again!) and not in CHINA.
I like the high quality microphones for video recording. I like the front facing 13mp camera as well, the boothie mode looks like something that needs refinement, but is a podcasters great tool. I dislike the screen being at 5.3", the sorta washy colors in picture and video. I dislike the high apetiture which would suck at retaining light very well. The phones IP rating is really low, at that low rating it should've sported a removable battery. Overall, I think the htc u11, v30, s8, note 8 seem like much more exciting gadgets to use. This phone is at the average point Imo. You should do a concert recording of the v30 vs Nokia 8 vs htc u11. Accoustic focus seems to do a really good job when recording events, converts, conventions, or movies.
Wish I could just put Android on my Lumia 1520. I really like this Nokia 8 though. Things I miss from my old Nokia phones: Proper sleeping screens (Symbian) Dedicated camera button w/quick launch Fully adjustable camera software The ability to use the phone with any gloves Lossless zoom And a few other nitpicks

naruto thesier Uh....yes they were. You must have been born in the 2000"s.....Nokia ruled in sales in the 90's and early 2000"s.....they were more popular than Samsung and apple combined .
Well I just bought this phone and will be receiving it within the next couple of days. Yes it's April 2021 and the phone is 3½ years old. But the whole reason I decided on this phone in particular is because it is has IPS display (which doesn't cause as much eyestrain as OLED with intense PWM flickering) and furthermore - because it's a normal sized 5.3" phone which retains the 16:9 aspect ratio (with no notch or punchhole) and still features the 3.5mm headphone jack. 👍
@Amiel Spencer Borejon Hi, it's funny you should ask because I'm actually using it right now to type this message! 😃 The phone is pretty good, I am running a custom ROM so I have Android 12 installed onto it. There's nothing I particularly dislike about it aside I wish the speaker quality was better for music/videos. But at least it has a 3.5mm headphone jack. I like how it's not oversized and heavy like all the latest phones. Last week I replaced the LCD display due to the original one suffering from very bad image retention/temporary burn-in. It's the most common fault for this phone. Also be careful to avoid ones with badly degraded batteries because the phone is over 3 years old. If you're interested in the custom ROM thing then there's a small community of developers over at XDA who have ported over ROMs like Ancient and Cherish OS - these have a lot more customisation than stock software and latest security patches. There's also a Telegram group for owners where you can ask questions and get support. Hope this helps.
@Amiel Spencer Borejon Haha no worries! I know I was a bit late with my reply. I think you made the right decision because the phone you bought is a lot newer than this one, with better performance and battery life. The stuff I described updating to Android 12 is a lot of trouble if you're not experienced with that sort of thing. Hope you enjoy the new phone!
@Amiel Spencer Borejon Yeah I wish the software was better on Xiaomi phones. I always hear people complain that MIUI has lots of bugs. If you keep the Redmi as a secondary backup phone then maybe you could still try installing a custom ROM. It would solve all of the problems cause it'd be the same as stock Android on a Google Pixel phone.
The Nokia 8 is a great phone . There's no doubt it's a flagship even 8 months later this is a beast . It's better than HTC u11 in many ways . Price being one. Some great buyign points . @@patcola7335 Aha then Nokia 8 is a great phone for that reason. If you are looking for a stock android phone should try pixel 1 it cost the same as nokia8.
Nokia 8 is very good, but as a Nokia old fan, I was expecting more from Nokia especially the build quality & Design , the sound and the camera of course, well lets hope that Nokia 9 will meet our expectation
Thanks for the video. Can you please tell us if there's some kind of brink around the display. It looks like that. That will make it hard for mobile gaming.
I have always been a nokia fan for a long time now before i switch to the Samsung galaxy s6 plus. However the Nokia 8 is a good decent phone very well built to. However the nokia 8 can not compete to its bigger rivals like the galaxy s9 plus or even the iphone X. But have to say it good to see nokia back love you nokia 8.
I have a Nokia 8 with Oreo update. This phone is really made well. Only I wish bezels were smaller. Display is excellent. Camera really perform well after the update. Way better than my Galaxy s6. Music quality is average. Headphone supplied is poor with lot of hissing noise. Phone is very fast. Portrait photos are excellent. This is a good value for money
"it's better than Sony Xperia xz premium and the lg g6" wow! I am impressed with that statement! I am between buying the nokia 8, Sony Xperia xz premium and lg g6 as my secondary device! I think I will go for the Nokia!
I like almost everything about this phone. Love that it's a 16:9 screen because a lot of apps (especially you, Snapchat) seem to not be optimized for 18:9 or higher screens so the apps will be misaligned. So annoying. A few small things I don't like about this phone (but not dealbreakers) are having the headphone jack on top, not having a front-facing LED flash and Google Photos. I absolutely LOATHE that app. I hope Android goes back to the regular simple Gallery app for future models. Also, one thing I'd like to see come back is the small notification light. Such a useful feature. Does anyone know if you can remove the Google search bar from the desktop? My BLU XL4 won't let me get rid of it.
where to see more footage from that gig in order to hear the quality of the audio please? also how do you think the audio recording compares in quality to LG V20 or G6?
Kuya will, Kung napanood mo yung teardown ni jerryrigeveything, i'm sure hindi mo na babanggitin yung phrase na lets not forget thst it was the 6000 series aluminum that started the bend gate. No! It was apple who started the bendgate. It has nothing to do with the aluminum alloy that was used.
Is the Nokia Lumia 1020 "Oversampling" camera technology coming in any of the new Nokia phones? The tech that compressed 41MP pictures into high-quality sharper 5MP picture.
Thanks, that was very important information for me. I was wondering who has the rights to the PureView technology - the original Nokia, Microsoft of HMD Global. Now, I know. I hope the new Microsoft mobiles with Windows Core OS perform better.
As it has high end spec, solid build, near pure android, and is upper mid-range price in my city (around 420 euro/510 USD, similar to the Huawai P10 by the way), I am very likely to get it to replace my iphone SE. One concern is that its camera is not as good as some competitors, so is it a good choice? (bezel is not a big concern to me)
I was going to get the 8 but I will keep my Nokia 6 from last year. Mine has the dual speakers and the speed of the 8 isn't enough for me to upgrade.....the SD 430 is ample for my uses and I don't get frustrated with some lag here and there....it's still a pretty quick phone and the build is brick House quality enough for me to keep it for awhile...at least until Nokia releases all of it's offerings in the US...then I will upgrade . Until then I should easily be able to get another year out of this phone.
I tottaly recomend this phone. Not only it has survived every time I droped it, today I was carrying one too many bags and didnt notice dropping my little purse that had only my Nokia 8 and a wallet in it and my boyfriend run it over with a car. And it survived. On one side screen poped out of the corpus but nothing cracked or bent or broke. So yeeeeey.
Thabang Lemao Id go with G6 for screen and camera. Nokia is better in gaming but Its not a huge difference. If u pick Nokia 8 thinking in Snapd 835 to keep with it for a long time, it will be improved by borderless display, this is not an issue to G6. So, its the point: better performance or better and modern borderless screen?
A phone with borders is still good for me. I'm looking for performance (I game a lot) and good camera quality. G6 was my pick until Nokia 8 was announced.
Thabang Lemao So I think you should go with Nokia 8. Screen aspect ratio 16:9 is better to gaming because most of the titles are non-optimized to 18:9 by now!

You like an action movie star from '80 especially with that music.
where to see more footage from that gig in order to hear the quality of the audio please? also how do you think the audio recording compares in quality to LG V20 or G6?
we uploaded some longer clips- check out the pinned comment :)
I love Nokia phone.
Their camera is good
I hope is the near future their camera must be good clarity as the human eyesight!😃😃
nice music choice
I am still using my Nokia 8 phone which is solid in its performance...
should i buy nokia 8 or xperia xz1 or mix 2?
What's the audio like via headphones playing music? does it have a DAC and amplifier for premium audio?
Is the Nokia Lumia 1020 "Oversampling" camera technology coming in any of the new Nokia phones? The tech that compressed 41MP pictures into high-quality sharper 5MP picture.
Thanks, that was very important information for me. I was wondering who has the rights to the PureView technology - the original Nokia, Microsoft of HMD Global. Now, I know. I hope the new Microsoft mobiles with Windows Core OS perform better.
nokia 8 vs one plus 5 full camera comparison pls #GsmArena

One plus 5 bro but the options of Nokia doing great
Yo Pinoy! Good review ^_^
This video made me thankful I have a Nokia 6 which has many similarities to the Nokia 8, but I admit the Nokia 8 has *_some_* major differences
?what song is 5:33 and who are they
Well done nokia!!!
(bezel is not a big concern to me)
Seems to be a strong year for non-Apple/Samsung flagships :)
Informative review bro, just what I need to hear.
You look a lot like Alexander Rybak btw. Haha
He's voice is so good to hear

I was going to get the 8 but I will keep my Nokia 6 from last year.
Mine has the dual speakers and the speed of the 8 isn't enough for me to upgrade.....the SD 430 is ample for my uses and I don't get frustrated with some lag here and there....it's still a pretty quick phone and the build is brick House quality enough for me to keep it for awhile...at least until Nokia releases all of it's offerings in the US...then I will upgrade .
Until then I should easily be able to get another year out of this phone.

IDK 🙄
Awwwwesssomme sir.....
Amazing review.....
Great phone it is.....
So yeeeeey.
please can you telle it's waterproof or not please dear
So, should I get Nokia 8 or LG G6? I want to upgrade from Lumia 530 😶

I think I might just go with Nokia 8, thank you.

You show some strange picture samples, London and at one point the University of National and World Economy Studenskigrad, Sofia. Are they taken by different people?
The giant is back.
