when Shane said, "I almost threw up that night" it really hit me hard. Eating disorders don't just go away, that shit follows you. I am so proud of Shane for working at this struggle internally as well as externally and using positive self talk. Things are on the up swing for him, I can feel it.

It's so shitty when people comment on your weight when they know you have an ED. People don't understand that weight gain is as much a symptom of it as weight loss. I gained 10 kg recovering from Anorexia, then 20 kg trying to recover from bulimia because when I stopped purging I couldn't yet stop bingeing. When people commented on my weight gain all I wanted to do was not only binge, but purge as well. I can't imagine being someone like Shane who has to deal with everyone commenting on him all the time... I couldn't...

Same. I’ve been a fan since I was a teenager and what makes me love Shane is his sense of humor, his kindness, his genuine personality. His weight is irrelevant to me but I’m glad he’s taking care of himself better now. Of course those haters need to fuck off, it can really mess with a person to hear shit like that. I support Shane no matter what but he’s really inspiring me to do better and take better care of myself with this video.

I can't tell you how much watching your videos has helped me. I lost my uncle and my grandma in the same month. This was after i lost my job and place to stay due to the pandemic. So I've been in a pretty dark place lately. You and your buds are such a joy to watch. I feel like y'all are MY friends. I don’t agree, not everyone shames him. It’s a small crowd. The problem is that we’ve let them have a bigger voice than they ever should of had. Maybe this can be used to change that for the better.

Everyone should feel confident with their body and never be body shamed, but weight loss and ditching bad habits should be encouraged by people's loved ones, personally to them, (non-abusively, all that jazz) for the sake of their health and for them to have a long life. There is scientifically no such thing as a healthy overweight person, it always catches up to them. Currently going through a process of learning new eating habits and living a more healthy life myself, just like Shane is doing.

some people will never experience how heartbreaking weight gain is. looking at old photos of yourself when you were thinner, feeling new stretchmarks on your body, having people make subtle comments that you are going to remember for the rest of the week. my depression got so much worse after I gained 15kg but you know what, I deserved it because I ate like shit in didn't exercise but Shane on the other hand, I cant imagine. we don't know the first part of what he's been through, but I've watched him long enough to know how devastating it would be for people to comment on his weight. he was bullied his entire childhood for being overweight. when he was in highschool he weighed almost 400lbs. after highschool he decided to make a huge change to his life. he worked his ass off, he went through hell and back, he persevered and lost even more weight than he needed to. he spent years saving up to get his extra skin removed, which was a long and painful recovery. people don't know the first thing about this man so why tf are you assuming his life choices. i don't care if this is a bump in the road, he's working hard and none of this is his fault, because his journey will always inspire me
That’s how I feel too. He’s worked so hard his entire life and nobody bats an eye, but when he gains a few pounds everyone loses their damn mind. You may not agree with me on this though: if Shane was to gain weight to where he had actual health problems, and you could see the suffering he was in due to being that big, then I think people would be allowed to be concerned. Being obese and anorexic aren’t that different and are very toxic. He’s not even there though, and a lot of people gain weight but don’t do anything about it, and then complain that someone who’s famous is fat. As far as I can tell he’s trying to gain control over it so it doesn’t blow out, and he’s slowly taking care of himself. I wouldn’t doubt he has depression and shit from all of this, literally a decade of people putting him down.

Jennifer Gary same. I had bad anorexia when I was a teen through my early 20’s. It never really goes away, you just have to keep tabs on it and makes sure you don’t ever relapse too badly. Its...not easy. My heart goes out to him.

i genuinely cried when he said he almost threw up that night. as someone with an eating disorder, known that my one of favorite influencers was struggling so much but was able to turn his back to his thoughts, makes me so hopeful and inspired to recover, i'm so proud of shane. love you xx
Jessica Erkson same, I’ve been off and on crying since it. I c any believe a “fan” could say that. ED, as u probably know since u have one too, is so strong. Even when you pass through and “get better” it never leaves and people can easily fall back in. I have went in and out 3 times in the span of this year. I’m currently in and can’t get out. So to see Shane going through that hurts and I’m glad he has people to help him and make him happy. Just hope all of us fans can help remind him his looks doesn’t matter and that we love him as he is and support him no matter what. I also hope you’re doing ok, with your and everything because I know how difficult it can be❤️
As someone who has also been dealing with an eating disorder i seriously cried for an hour when he said that he almost puked but didnt because I've been their so many times just contemplating if it's worth it or not but I'm also very proud of him for not going through with it

I'm grateful for celebrities like Shane. It stinks that fame makes him vulnerable to attacks on his appearance, but his public reaction counterbalances the hate and body-shaming we normals receive because he uses his voice to let people know: it is not okay to comment on someone else's weight or appearance; fat-shaming never helps, it only hurts.
Except that wasn't body shaming, it was a concern over him gaining weight. I'm glad that comment hit him hard, hopefully he not just keeps exercising but improves his food choices. Replacing soda with water is a start.
