Is this lens in your kit??
The same lens, because you forced me to buy it.
It is, but when I first used it a few years ago on my R6 the IBIS wobble was horrendous and I couldn’t use the video.
You’ve inspired me to give it a try it with the newer firmware!
Might also try it on my C70 for fun
Great take on a super affordable lens. Thanks for the video Tyler!
Great video about a great lens. I got one a while ago and didnt use it but on my disney trip right now and loving it. I got the 28mm pancake and 35mm and it wasnt wide enough. Id argue for my photos with this lens vs 15 35 2.8 at websize, most wont notice the difference. For environmentally portraits with subject in the middle it captures a lot of the surroundings, highly recommend this lebs for travel and everyday shooting, well over a cell phone
I like how you go from Cool Tyler, to Backwoods Tyler, to High School Tyler and then back to Cool Tyler with your hat lol
Best comment lol
Agree with you opinion. Hello from Sabah, Borneo.
I use a C70 for all my video work. I’m not a bit gimbal fan but sometimes it is necessary to use one and I’ve been using an EF 16-35 on the C70 speed booster. It’s a lump when it’s on a gimbal in terms of weight. I’m considering picking up the 16mm for gimbal use since it’s not my main priority anyway and will save my back a bit. Do you reckon it’s good enough for the occasional gimbal shot on a super 35 sensor? Think it should equate to about 23mm on the C70 which is a pretty nice field of view for basic stuff.
I personally think 24mm on FF is a nice focal length on a gimbal!
What VND are you using on this Tyler?
Polar pro PM VND (amzn.to/3rTcb8A) with a 43-82mm step up ring (amzn.to/3rVsotG)
I'm actually considering the R8 with the RF 28mm f2.8 as a travel camera, just because it's a tiny setup and much more easy to carry around while hiking than my Komodo with the Pictor zooms. I was eyeballing the RF 16mm as well, but it seems to be too wide for my liking (especially on the full frame sensor of the R8), so the 28 will have to do -- plus it's even smaller and lighter! 😁
if that 28mm was f2.0, i'd be all over it. I still might get it though haha. i love that focal length
I got the 28mm pancake for my Disney trip, just on the middle of it and it wasn't wide enough, the 16mm was perfect with the 1 button crop zoom to 24mm it was a great travel kit combined with the 50 1.8, that's my observation, wish I can return the 28mm
Have you ever had that 16mm ever stop autofocusing for no apparent reason? On the R7 it suddenly decided to stop autofocusing. When I checked the Q menu and the regular menu on the camera, the only choice was MF. Tried taking it on and off (with camera off), tried turning the camera on and off. No change. I switched lenses and took a few pics. A few minutes later I put the 16mm back on, changed no other settings and suddenly it worked again. Is it user error or ignorance? Thanks.
I haven’t come across that issue.
I generally watch RUclips on my smart TV, so if I'm ever on my laptop and have a chance to comment... I try to do so! What I'm trying to say is, I always want to comment, but rarely can. So here we are!
Thanks for always switching up the format on your videos, Tyler! Really nice to see videos done DIFFERENTLY.
I really appreciate that feedback! I have to change it up for my own sanity haha. I am glad my efforts weren't wasted though! Thanks for the support 🙏
This lens hasn't grown on me yet. I've taken it out a few times and it definitely doesn't compare to my L lenses. Hoping I will grow to like it.
Definitely not L quality. It’s a lens of convenience for me.
😊😊
focus problem?
None
I agree. Put the 16mm rf on and set to monochrome. - hello new world.
Oh hello
I got it used for 200 bucks 👍
Nice!
