best thing I ever did on storing my tube adhesives - cut a finger of a glove like the ones you use (like the blue ones) put over the tip. them squeeze a little into the tip. keeps mine perfect. Never hardens the adhesive in tube.

I have learned at least a dozen tricks watching you build this boat. It is looking really nice. Thank you for sharing. Take care and have a great week ahead.

Looks great!! After replacing a few brass sleeves, I've started over drilling my drain/plug holes, filling it all with epoxy and milled glass, and drilling my drain straight out of that- no brass insert.. nothing to corrode or start leaking and50 years from now that drain will be just as solid as it is today.

Looks like you have built a nice little dory. I've been following your build. I just wanted to let you know for any similar build that your boat will work well without the boards on the bottom. Where I live and fish, Pacific City Oregon, we launch and land on a sand beach. There are several hundred very similar boats that run without the slats and have for generations. Any tendency to skid in a turn quickly becomes unnoticeable. They maneuver well in all conditions. We eliminated the anti skid boards about 60 years ago and haven't looked back. If you search on RUclips, "Pacific City Dory", you will understand why. We typically hit the beach at 15 to 25 kt and slide up on the beach for loading. They stop too quick with the boards. Most of our dories are somewhat larger, but so similar that I'm sure the many video's will be a good source of ideas. The majority are ply and frame wood boats. Most are 19 to 22 ft, with a few shorter and longer. Sturdily built, with higher sides, they are well known and respected for seaworthiness. Anyway, I just wanted you to be aware, if not already, of our dory fleet. It is a special community....Capable of extreme conditions, there is an old saying among Dorymen, "If it gets too extreme, just lay down in the bottom of the boat 'til it gets better". Just humor, we always make it home....Truth is, that although it appears dangerous and extreme launching and landing thru breaking surf every day, sometimes small, and sometimes big, We are actually the safest port on the west coast, with zero drownings in the last fifty years. Check us out on youtube, Time well spent. Truth is, the basic design is pretty stagnant, and there is potential for innovation......JE

Thanks , I am well aware of your Pacific Dory A long time ago wooden boat magazine did an article on a father and daughter boat builders the reason we use the skids on the bottom is that our beaches are generally stony and that adds a little buffer from rocks scraping the bottom

Makes sense. The skids were used on the earliest of the square stern PC dories, mainly to minimize skidding in turns, but soon disappeared to allow sliding up better on the beach. In fact, I removed them from my current project, the original of the type. 62 years old and counting down to 100. Very similar in planform to your boat, with a 4' bottom and 19' 6"long, but with 32" sides and of course robust bottom frames for rough ocean ops.
Very interesting, at least to me, is the method they used to get the high sides and still use only two sheets of 20'x4' plywood,(readily available at the time)....Picture your boat, with its 24" sides, but longer side frames, and with a clear 20', 1"x8" board shiplapped over the top of the plywood, against the longer frames, for the 32" sides.....Designed to be the most boat possible to build from two sheets of plywood.
The 20" plywood was produced locally. Douglas fir. The local plywood mill had a scarfing room where they made marine plywood panels up to 40 ft long and shipped trainloads to boat manufacturers all over the country. Progress?

You lost me with the drain plug tube with the bolt washers and nut. What is that process for. I have used a lot of 5200 and you did a nice cleanup on it. Love the series. I missed my calling. Your jigs and techniques are impressive.

So when you tighten that bolt, it creates a flange on the other side, like pinning it over with a hammer
