@@BromptonFamilyTime How are you getting on with the Spirgrips (they seem very difficult to source in the UK)? Are Togs a more simple and cheaper solution?
I have these on the my T Line mid-raise M bar (with is notoriously lacking mounting space) and they're pretty amazing. Didn't need to file or cut anything to fit them but I'm using stock levers. I hadn't realise until you mentioned it but yes, I do find inner grips much more comfortable than having them at the bar-ends. My arms are bent and shoulders more relaxed when holding the Spirgrips.
Regarding the Ergon grips w/bar ends, these are used to aid in climbing hills rather than providing another hand position (although one can use it as another way to position the hands I guess).
Very nice, I am happy the algorithm now shows me what I missed on your channel. I have similar horns called inner bar end from sqlabs. One big plus to the outer bar ends is really that you can use the breaks and shifters
I bought the grips for my S bar brompton on their official website, after seeing your video here and the clip of you on their instagram page that they use to advertise the grips ( love your channel and I do not blame you at all). Or should I say: I paid for them on may 3rd, but never received the actual product. They do not reply my emails, the support on their website doesn’t work (always unavailable), they basically stole my money and ghosted me. I can not even get the answer if they sent out my purchase or not. So I’m 70 bucks short and have a wrist pain, that I can not fix😂. FML
@@BromptonFamilyTime already did it. More than 10 times to various emails, including this one. Plus more than 20 messages on their website. To no avail. 40 days since I paid. Hi mate, love the vid - very informative. I'm now looking to buy a pair for my T Line. However, I am a bit confused since on the Spirgrips website there are two versions. MTB/Citybike and Road/Gravel. Which one would fit the T Line?
Hey where did you get the music in the installation section from? at around 2:47? I first heard it as part of the trailer for a game, retro gadgets, and I haven't been able to find it since. Please let me know, because it's a vibe.
Yes there can be depending on many factors (where they are on the handlebar and what angle you have them. They need to poke though the wheels to fit (I have aftermarket wheels and no problem for my positioning).
I recently started using the silicone on the carbon spirgrips. They are much better. But I do prefer the original spirgrips without the silicone that is on my superlight. It feels better overall.
You are able to get short horns which may prevent the hand from sliding and first finger-rest, on the inside. I use those on my Superlight, fully XTR MTB. Finn
What size Spirgrips did you use to fit on a Brompton handlebar? My M handlebar is diameter 25.4mm (standard factory) and the Spirgrips is sold in 31.8mm or 22.2mm - which do I use ?
I don't have any experience with putting them onto the M Handlebar. The best way to test it is make a "cardboard" copy and postion them where you will most likely place them and see if it folds. I have the 22.2mm.
As a Brompton is a special tool intended for becoming very small, when being folded, I have seen the handlebar- "Horns" on Brazilian "Chrisbybike", Christine Stocklers Brompton, ends up on both sides of the front wheel, when the bike is folded. How does these horns behave during that? I must admit that I only use a pair of traditional, round leather grips with a "Brompton" print on the leather and locking rings in both ends😁! They come in two sizes and on my M/H shape handlebar I only have room for the short ones because of the handlebar bends. Finn. Denmark
Hi and thanks for the videos, helps give perspective to the installation process and thoughts after usage. Does the innerbarends affect the fold (hit the wheel)?

I found that on my stock T-Line Urban the right grip squarely hits the support strut for the front mudguard when folding. To clear the Spirgrip needs to be much more vertical, but then it wouldn’t match the other side (which has to be flatter to keep the gearshift accessible). Not great.
Directly from Spirgrips. I see a lot of fake ones on the market so I wanted to make sure I got the real one. That said, I have heard of complaints that they are slow with shipping so please try to find a vendor that sells them close by. Good luck!
I only use the spirgrips when riding. They have been great and I can't use the regular grip anymore. The silicone attachment is okay. I actually prefer the original ones on my superlight. They feel more secure.
I love your channel and have recently bought my own Brompton. If I'm not mistaken are those spirgrips one? Would like to know if you looked at spirgrips + as well before deciding on those and what were your considerations on choosing the ones you installed. Thanks!
I have them both. So far I feel the original ones without the silicone are more comfortable. I'm not sure why but they feel better and my hand grips it better. The + are great too but if I could choose only one, I would probably go with the original.
I installed the regular non carbon and the right side will hit the metal bar that attaches the front fender to the wheel when folded So I changed the angle of the grip so it would clear and then set the angle of the left one to match. Now the left side will rub the front wheel when folded and will stop it from rolling. So I adjust the grip so it clears both sides but now it’s pointing too high up which causes stress on my hands. The opposite of what’s supposed to happen. I’ll experiment a little more but this mod might be a lose for me.
Would they fit on M type bars, how much ? Where did you buy them from ? Sorry for question = life is for learning = live and learn, die and forget it all.
I'm not sure how they would fit, but I would imagine it is possible. I may try it on my M type in the future. I bought them directly from Spirgrips website. I see imitation ones but I wouldn't trust them.

Why don't you move all the controls to the middle of the bars and then trim the ends of the bars down. It saves having to bolt all this junk on your bars.
Have decided not to purchase a Brompton because it's clear it needs thousands of dollars of "upgrades" to meet your specs. I'm afraid the B. is a one trick pony: it folds and can fit in small spaces. But beyond that, other bikes outshine it in many ways. For me, the "cockpit" of the Brompton is too tight, too vertical. I'm only 5'6" but I need more space.
I'm curious what other bikes you think outshine the Brompton and in what ways? I am 5'8" and have an S-bar setup on a 2-speed superlight, which doesn't feel tight at all. Fits me like a glove. Other folding bikes look clunky in my opinion. Yes, I've made several minor upgrades, but not "thousands of dollars." With all due respect to BFT, his specs are thru the stratosphere. Enviable, but far from the norm :)
Basically the stock is as good as it is already, the process upgrading is fun and tuning/upgrading enhances what’s already good, and you don’t have to spend thousands at one go, and there are tons of options of inexpensive alternatives. Enjoy the process!
