Hyundai & Kia's Are JUNK!

- Hyundai has decided after we have received 3 engines in a short period of time to just wash their hands with us and leave us high in dry without any support or help after we purchased a lemon. My family can use your thoughts and prayers as to what is next for us to do.
*PLEASE SHARE THIS TO SPREAD THE WORD THAT HYUNDAI DOES SHADY THINGS AND DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS OR MAKE ANY RECALLS FOR CERTAIN VEHICLES OF THEIRS*
LET'S MAKE THIS VIRAL TO SAVE OTHERS FROM THE SAME MISTAKES!!

Thanks for the information and tip ! I was going to trade in my 2018 Toyota 4Runner for a 2025 Kia Sorento umm after listening to this ain't gonna happen .
You dodged a bullet there my friend!
@BeardedMounjarbro I feel bad with what's going on in your end hopefully there's a light @ the end of the tunnel . ✌
Thank you what makes it worse is I lost my job back in July and my wife has always homeschool the kids so it’s been hard to find another job and now this happened so I am just trying to keep positive and figure out how I’m going to get this taken care of. But God knows.
KEEP that Toyota, and make sure you are changing the oil every 3-5 k miles. Change transmission fluid every 30-45k miles if it is an automatic. Use quality synthetic oil, and ONLY Toyota transmission fluid bought from the dealer.
KEEP THE TOYOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guys please please change your oil every 3000 miles. Don’t care what the dealer says .
Use a high quality oil filter and synthetic oil
I think it depends on the engine. If you have synthetic oil you can go to 5000 miles. However, if you have a turbo 3000 miles would better.
Changing it every 3k isnt neccessary unless your running an e85 blend of tracking the car. 4500-5k or every 4 months is fine. What you should do is run high quality oil and filter, and check oil every 500 miles- top off as necessary.
@@lucian7182 On Hyundai KIA engines with GDI its 3750 miles due to the fuel dilution issues. That can thin out the oil and reduce lubrication.
I have a 22 turbo soul with the 1.6 GDI. I absolutely run GDI spec synthetic and change it every 3k miles. They do suffer from oil dilution issues. I will sell it before the 10yr warranty runs out. I only put about 7-8k a year on it.
Hyundai/Kia are total garbage, everyone I know with one has said "never again"... I will keep my 03 Marquis 477,000 miles, engine, transmission, axle, front end all original, it did need an alignment at 160,000 miles and a gear selector bulb, even the PW are original. You have to go with a properly built vehicle. Stay away from trashy throw away vehicles. Sorry that you are going through this. Coworker has 2021 Palisade with bad engine at only 62,000 miles.
I've had my 2000 Grand Marquis for 24 years. I've been contemplating trading it for a new car to get all of the modern stuff (crap in other words). However, I don't think anything is on the market that is as comfortable, reliable, and economical to own as the Grand Marquis. Maybe I'll just keep it. At 165,000 miles, it's still quite young.
We have a 2016 Elantra with 140,000 miles.
I've lease Hyundai Elantras and Tucson and now Kona since 2012 and I've NEVER had a problem with any of them.
I think Ford vehicles are crap. However, I do like Grand Marquis, I had a 2006 that got t-boned and am always on the look out for another one.
A customer of mine had the engine seize up in his 2012 Kia Sorento with over 150,000 miles on it and he got a new engine. There was a TSB about engine failures. I found the TSB on Alldata, printed it out and he took it to the local dealer and they put a brand new engine in it. I can attest to the fact it is brand new because I've had it back in my shop for other repairs and I saw it myself, brand spanking new. It was a problem where they chemically deburred the crankshafts but it wasn't effective and the burr caused inadequate oiling of the crankshaft, hence the seizure.
2017 Elantra Value Edition now with 118,000 miles and NEVER have an issue so far. May be the best, reliable car I ever own. I do all the maintenance on time. 5000 miles oil and filter, full synthetic, change transmission oil every 40,000 miles.
My 2017 elantra has 150k absolutely flawless car. My 2021 elantra at the dealership got a engine rebuilt at 98k. It's back at the same dealership cause it have issue. These cars are a coin flip tbh but I think the issue's in the 25 models are resolved.
Although many have complained about these cars, there are also many that claim not to have had serious problems during many miles of ownership.
@@ozzierabbit587 It seems if you buy one, it's a coin flip whether you will get a lemon or a gem. The question is: are you willing to take a $50k chance? I wouldn't but that's just me.
That's incredible. Everyone on the car channels says that most new cards are expensive junk with those two high on the list.
I have a few friends who work at Hyundai/Kia dealerships. They said the sales are slow but the service department is making $$ because of the guaranteed pay from warranty work. I guess if you're a service advisor and tech for that company, you have job security.
Edit:
Also, check your lemon law. Some states have lemon laws. Out here in California, if your vehicle has been to the dealer at least 3 times (3 attempted fixes) for the same issue, it qualifies a vehicle for a lemon buy back. The attorney won't charge you but will charge the manufacturer if and when they win your case.
Thanks! Yes, we have a lemon law also but I believe it is for newer vehicles.
My barber has a Hyundai and his engine died too, said he had it maintenanced regularly and had to replace the engine paid for it out of pocket sadly said Hyundai said it was his fault, I’ve had a coworker who had the same problem
5 hyundais never had a problem with any of the 4. But the 1988 hyundai Excel motor was bargain basement .
My oil change regimen is 5000 miles...not 6 or 7..plus you must keep records of maintance
I had a 23 night edition Santa Cruz... Got rid of it at 2k miles. The biggest pile of crap i ever bought....
Sorry about that bro! Praying for you guys.
Have a 2017 Sonota. The engine went. Hyundai gave us a "new" engine and paid our rental expenses during that time. Very happy so far at 104,000 miles, but it's only the first engine. I can't imagine how frustrating your situation must be after three engines.
Reach out to a lemon law attorney. If Hyundai is in violation of warranty laws or recall, the lawyer will go after them at no cost out of pocket to you. Not a quick solution, but would be at least worth looking into
So sorry to hear that man. Had a 2014 Santa Fe and a similar situation happened. Never buying Hyundai again. Praying for your family.
Much appreciated Bro. I’ll tell you what it’s crazy to think how many people have had the same issue with the 2013 and 2014 however Hyundai doesn’t do anything about it.
@BeardedMounjarbro If not Hyundai, the government should step in (or step up) and force them. A class action lawsuit may also be in order....
On my 2nd HYUNDAI and no problems. My 2023 Venue is great 💯👍❤️❤️🥂
Holding a grenade repeatedly is my apology on this.
Sorry to see you going through this. Hopefully others will be saved by you sharing 😌
What’s everyone’s thoughts on a 2018 Jeep Compass?
@@BeardedMounjarbro Don't buy it, RAM has the lowest quality of all the automobile manufactures on the planet. You will have nothing but issues with it. Google what I'm saying here about Jeep/RAM/Chrysler quality. Jeep is good for 2 maybe 3 years, after that it's just not worth the trouble you will have. Check out Scottie Killmore channel. If you intend on buying used auto, check out a Toyota Corolla or Toyota 4Runner, if you can afford it. Note: I'm on my second Hyundai Sonata, had a 2012, and traded it in for a 2015 Sonata Sport. The engine and transmission have not given me any issues, but I've had trouble with everything else on the vehicle, costing me about $8 to $9000.00 for repair or replacement of items (only on my 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport - purchased new) not covered by the warranty. That's since I had the car for 10 years. I now have 122,000 miles on it, but I'm planning on trading it in, this year for a Subaru. No more Hyundai for me. Also check out Car Confections channel (2 brothers have been reviewing cars for over 15 years.
Last year they bought a new Hyundai 2024 Santa Fe. They had problems with the engine and had the engine replaced. The replacement engine was also bad. They had the dealer/Hyundai buy the vehicle back from them and they purchased a Toyota. Check it out. Anyway good luck to you!
I gather that you bought a used Santa Fe in 2019 and paid for a third party warranty. Is that right? Perhaps I misunderstand.
It would be helpful if you mentioned the year of the car, the mileage, the company providing the warranty, and the terms of that warranty. You did mention something about 2013 and 2014 models having a problem. I'm guessing it is one of these years?
Yes sorry, it was from Hatchett Hyundai from where I live and they have an extended warranty. Bought it with 30k miles and had the first engine replacement at around 60k and not it has 205k miles and 3rd engine has failed. The kept replacing the same type of used engine in my car which is a 2014 Santa Fe.
@@BeardedMounjarbro I will side with hyundai on this one. If you got 205k miles out of your santa fe. You got your money's worth unless I am missing something. God bless.
@@Goodkidjr43 Lots of Toyotas and Hondas make it to 205,000 miles on the original engine... it takes Hyundai 3 to get there.
Hyundai & Kia’s Are JUNK! YEP
272,000 miles on my 528iT. Same everything. 25mpg. Fast, quiet, comfortable.
Nice! Congrats
What's crazy is Hyundai and Kia are the cars we see the most on the road, they're everywhere!!! Even in South America and Europe, some are built good some are not, it's a hit or miss 50/50 I do have a Kia and burns oil after 2,000 miles, I have to add about 1/2 of one quart of oil every 2,000 miles, it's a 2.0 GDI and it has a plastic timing belt and it needs to be replaced every 60k to 80,000 miles or the engine is done if the belt breaks.
Thanks for sharing this information
Here in Scotland our Hyundai i 10 developed a coolant leak, and a noisy clutch bearing,it was just over 4 years old, with a supposed 5 year warranty, the dealer said " if it had a newer number plate,we could have done something to help" never again.
I appreciate you sharing your issue with how they have been treating you and your family, I was looking at buying a Hyundai Palisade. I certainly want be purchasing one now based on how you are being treated after already having the engine replaced a few times already, they should buy this back as a lemon.
Thank you, brother. Appreciate the kind words!
I have a Kia soul. It’s been fine so far (75k miles) but is starting to burn oil. I will ride it out, but I don’t think I’ll buy from them again. Too many bad stories.
Should start using valvoline restore and protect. Look it up, but it does fantastic and has helped with burning oil.
Keep an eye on the oil, change the oil at around 3750 miles. That will buy you time at least.
What kind of oil change intervals have you been going by? IOW, change the oil after how many miles?
Got burned when Kia came out with the Rio long time ago. Engine jumped time same week we got the title. Bought a used Suzuki Forenza for cheap and couldn’t kill it. Guy I sold it to had it forever then sold it for more than I did. Still see it on the road. I cringed when my friend just bought a used Kia. Wish I would’ve known he was looking at them.
Man, I'm sorry. Our 2013 Sonata engine just blew up, but it's getting a new engine under the Theta II class action lawsuit. New engine in a paid off car with 82K miles? Yes, thank you. My '22 Elantra N is simply an amazing machine, only flaw is the knock sensor; currently on it's 3rd one, but it's a power train code, so on Hyundai's dime until 2032.
The trick with Hyundai: only buy one with a VIN starting with K. Those are built in Korea. Anything built in Mexico or US are trash. Did I mention I can get 0-60 in 5 seconds in my N? Or 35+ MPG in Eco mode. Amazing machine...
Thanks
M54 528iT is my solution .
My new 13 Hyundai Accent made it 8 years and 70k miles until the crank bearings went. That was with 3k oil changes! Two weeks to get my rental and over 2 months to get me a beat replacement engine! Sold it first chance I got. My first and last Korean car!
They put in a used engine?
@filippocorti6760 Oh yes! It was dirty, had chalk marks on it, and the oil was black in under 1k miles. What a scam they run!
@ I thought they were supposed to fix the problem with new parts or install a new engine to the customer. The engine shouldn't go at 70k with 3k oil changes. Sorry you had to experience that.
@@filippocorti6760 I thought the same, that's why I decided to try their brand. I even asked if I could trade up to an Elantra. That fell on deaf ears. Terrible service!
Hey man still down but still doin videos keep your head up .
Everything passes. Me and my wife went through hardships all last year. It was hard but you’ll get through this. Head up brother
Thanks Bobby!
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, while expecting different results. If Hyundai continues to replace a defective engine with a defective engine, sounds like a good lawyer is needed😥
I will be looking into a lemon law attorney tomorrow.
That’s not the definition of insanity. Do you have access to a dictionary? Look it up.
I"ve got friends who are on their 4th Hyundai. All of them have been bulletproof. Change oil at 3-4k and keep it checked and they'll run forever
@danwoods315 anecdotal
3-4K OIL CHANGE IS WILD! That alone should be a red flag.
@@user-xg3tp9rw4j How so? Gasoline direct injected engines make oil thin and dirty very quickly. Just remember that the manufacturer recommended intervals are coming from someone who thinks you should buy a new car every two years
If they run forever why are they on their 4th one?
@@puddytat54 Over a 22 year period.
Which engine is in your car
Haven't Hyundais and Kias always been crap. I was around in 1986 when several folks thought they were getting Toyota quality for 2/3s the price. Boy, were they ever wrong.
They're much better than in 1986, which was about 39 years ago.
@@ozzierabbit587 lol

anyone who knows cars has been saying consistently that these korean cars where fukkin trash for decades, but hey, so many americans are stupid and poor, so they're the perfect target for this garbage.
Find a lemon law Attorney in your state. Boss had 2 Teslas one for him one for his wife. Tesla continuously fixed both for 2 years covering most of the cost for the issues. Eventually sued under lemon law and they took them back for purchase price.
@@sgt_hobbes 3 bad engines should meet the requirements for the vehicle being a lemon.
Yet people keep buying these cars even though they can't keep up with the demand because so many are going bad.
So sorry....thanks for letting folks know.

@@drewdevon2009 Everything is junk now, toyota is still the best junk. They still have good models, stop listing to the internet about how bad their tundra engine blow up, the hybrids and many turbo models are still bulletproof.
Yep, if you need basic transportation get a 07-11 Yaris. People say it's a penalty box but who cares, mines reliable, gets great fuel mileage, isn't rusty, parts are cheap (tires). As long as it has good heat and a/c it can't be that bad. My a/c still works great on mine and it's 15 years old.
2015 sante fe v6 160k+. Been a surprisingly good vehicle only one minor repair to the ac system.
I think I will stay with Ford Explorers. I get the Explorers that are front wheel drive, V6 engines and no turbos. My first went over 200,000 miles before I crashed it. My second one is doing the same thing. Thoughts?
@@alfredyost7972 The Ecoboost engines are fine.
Company also could've been using your situation as a kind of guinea pig research opportunity to try and figure out what factors are involved with the failures of those engines.
At any rate, ridiculous, what they did!
Praise God and glad for you bro!
Thanks!
They are the poor man’s car and true to form the poor man always gets screwed.
They are really nice cars. Don't do the 10k oil changes. Change your oil every 3k
There are no new vehicles worth buying these days. My last new was a 2018 tacoma trd 4x4. It had electrical problems that would send it into limp mode usually at 65mpg on the interstate. Every time the dealership took a jab at fixing it they were hush hush about what was wrong and what the remedy was. Every time they quoted toyota policy saying they weren't allowed to discuss it or disclose details.
I sold it back to the dealership and have never looked back. Now i drive a 20+ year old trailblazer. I found a rare one with 114k original miles on it. Not letting this one go....ever.
I also stopped letting the chevy dealership do oil changes. Every time i went there they were badgering the heck out of me to sell them the vehicle. I started thinking they might sabotage it in order to force a sale. I might have been wrong about it but the intensity of the badgering was at a level ive never seen before. Calls and letters were a part of what i describe as badgering. Supposedly they had a tech that needed a vehicle....😡
Car dealerships are such slime🙄
I sympathize for those with Hyundais and Kias who have had serious problems with their cars. As an fyi, the new ones appear to have a reliability rating about in the middle of the major car brands sold in the US.
Bought a 2012 sonata new and just traded it in recently with 136 K kilometres for a 2025 sonata. No problems with the with the 2012. I am sorry for your situation though.
I just went through this with Kia and had to appeal it 3 times and threaten to get a lawyer and they finally, after six months put a new one in. I had to fight them on putting the same faulty engine in (MAKE NO SENSE) and they put a new one that wasn't a rebuild in. Contact Hyundai directly and chew them about it. They told me the recall that was on my engine had expired...IT WAS STILL A BAD ENGINE, no matter what amount of time had passed. This will be our last Kia for sure.
I have been in talk with Hyundai directly several times and they won’t budge on how I am 50k miles outside of warranty.
Sorry bro, it's so frustrating. I'm praying for you!
Thanks brother!
My friends had the same problem with their Santa Fe..good luck
4 years ago, my sister's 2015 Hyundai died on her while on the freeway. Luckily she was able to get to the side before it completed stopped. Hyundai wanted to charge her over 5000 dollars to repair her engine. She just sold it and purchased a Toyota
I will never buy a Hyundai.
I would have traded in the car the day I picked it up with the 1st replacement motor on something that was not either brand.
So many questions here
How many miles are on it?...they replaced a failed engine with another used engine while the vehicle was under warranty?
It sounds like the vehicle is over 10 years old?
They defaulted on my warranty. Horrible service on a defective product.
I wanted a new Telluride in the worse way for the wife. After 4 years and no deals we moved on. Shorty after that I bought the wife a new Subaru Ascent and my buddy bought a new Telluride. I’ve become anal with oil changes and changed the Ascent at 1,000 miles. I was joking to my buddy had he changed his oil yet and he said no he changed his ENGINE. I asked what the heck are you talking about. His brand new 2024 Teli needed to have the engine replaced with around 8,000 miles on it. That sure inspires confidence in the Telluride. Me thinks the wife and I dodged a bullet. Sorry for your luck. We live in the age of disposable cars.
Use to work on cars and have never liked or had anything good to say about Hyundai vehicles. Sorry to hear about this. It’s sad that they keep putting in bad motor after bad motor after bad motor. I mean, that should be a sign of the product. Just an overall bad product not trying to be negative, but just stating the obvious and my personal views of that car, there are a lot of great car manufactures out there Honda a fantastic one Toyota a good one

Dont generalize dude!
How many miles do u have on the vehicle? Ifnu have 150 i kust say no dealer or manufacture would replace it,
This past summer I was looking for a truck and fell in love with the Hyundai Santa Cruz and started doing some research online and on RUclips and because of all the negative feedback regarding engine failures I passed on the Santa Cruz and purchased a Nissan Frontier because I've had 2 Nissan trucks in years past and they were wonderful, dependable trucks. Sorry you're having problems with Hyundai, I'll never buy one because of their bad engine reputation!
Would not own a Korean car.
Ford or Mazda has always served me well.
Some catch on fire
I'll bet some of every car brand have caught on fire.
Can you please give us your oil change intervals?
I had my oil changed every 5 months from the same dealership so that was it was in their computer record to keep warranty and now we have completely exhausted our “warranty” the warranty company sucks since it has them just replaced the engine with the same used one from another one at the cheapest cost to them. I just don’t know what I am going to do having to pay the rest of the car off without actually having a car that runs.
Have a 2010 Kia Sportage with 2.7 liter engine . Do oil changes every 10,000 klms with Super tech full synthetic 5W30 and Fram oil filter . Vehicle has 652,000 klms presently and still runs strong . Never have to add oil between changes . Also 2012 Hyundai Santa fe with 3.5 liter and same service shedule using Super tech 5W20 and Fram oil filter . It has 245,000 klms .
I've lease Hyundai Elantras and Tucson and now Kona since 2012 and I've NEVER had a problem with any of them.

Thanks brother!
Well, they all are failing. Toyota had to put in an additional engine line to produce 102,000 engines for their Tundra pickup. (Along with everything else they have had trouble with.) Ford is getting sued for their Eco-boost engines. GM is having to address 800,000 engines in their Silverado/Sierra pickups, and on and on. I have a friend that works for a local Hyundai/Kia dealership and he told me they routinely have 20 engines in stock to install for warranties. I would say the reason you had used engines installed is because there were no new engines available. Plus, obviously, a used Hyundai/Kia engine is pretty well done when it made it to your car. 1996-2007 appears to be the sweet spot for many vehicles. Choose something reliable within those years. (Eg. Toyota Camry, Corolla, Avalon, etc.) GREAT VIDEO!
*_They're_** ALL **_junk_** ... **_Nowdays!!!_** hahahaha LOL*
Owned a 2016 tucson limited -the dual clutch would hesitate and almost died 3 different times. Claimed three different claims in a class action and dumped this car with a small loss. 2023 santa fe XRT 2.5 l engine. Bought brand new - heard a faint ticking noise that sounded like my old chev equinox when it burnt oil, hecked it at 8k miles 2 quarts down. Long story short it burns 1 quart every 1400 miles. Hyundai considers it normal wear and tear. Lemon law lawyer says that I need proof defect for any help, well that would require spending a boat load of money to tear the engine apart. Hang in there keep fighting! How many miles are on your vehicle and what is the make?
My 2012 hundai santa fe has 180k miles meanwhile and I consider that more reliable, engine still sounds strong. No engine or transmission issues yet.
Thanks I have 205,000 miles on mine yeah I know it’s quite a bit and has went through three different engines and a short amount of time and has been serviced on time from the same dealership
KIA= Keep It Away.
New vehicles are huge gamble, get one with at least 5 year warranty and sell immediately after the warranty expires or you are taking a big risk because new car repairs can be 5 digits!
You refinance the car that’s why you’re still paying on it
I've never bought anything but Honda and would only ever buy Honda or Toyota MAYBE Mazda
I know hindsight is 20/20, but you should've sold it after the second engine replacement. It was a pattern. Sucks that your warranty is expired. Yes, they didn't make a good engine for that vehicle but they did uphold their warranty. When it expires it's gone. Not their problem then.
Hyundai dealership cost me $500 because they couldn’t figure out a misfire over a faulty coil, faulty by default. I went to another shop, non affiliated with Hyundai, they put coils in that replaced factory faulty ones….Hyundai also did shoddy warranty work, putting new remote door locks in but not putting new key in fob, so when battery died…I couldn’t open manually with key due to not having correct key.
None of my friends will ever buy them again as they had bad transmissions and blown motors . I always saw them as a bad investment as in who would ever buy a used one , depreciation is crazy on them .
I will say they do have pretty damn good auto 6 speed transmissions tho. DCT now I dunno never had one of theres
Owing money on a 12 year old car........how does this happen?
@CPBOXFIXR because they refinanced it multiple times and he lost his job and is trying to go all-in on content creation. Certainly not a great strategy to succeed financially, but that's how it happened.
Only buy NA v6 from honda or toyota nissan.
No one listens about Hyundai/KIA being shit. Until it happens to them. Always avoid them. That being said, make a car insurance claim.
Toyota or Honda only. Avoid turbos and CVTs if possible, and personally I do not want a hybrid. Simpler = reliable.
I will also never buy a Kia or Hyundai ever again. I had a Sportage that just reached 100,000 Mi and I lost my all-wheel drive. The dealership said it was a blown up transfer case but I believe it was a union between the transmission and transfer case corporate did not want to help me or the local dealership. It probably would have costed me a good $7,000 for the fix. Never again. I thought I would have at least been able to get another 50,000 Mi out of it
And so all you know, I had the engine replaced at 55,000 miles on that sportage. My wife has a Sorrento which the engine was replaced at 65,000 miles. All junk cars
I would personally NEVER own either...good luck
You need to contact your attorney general in your state!
If they wanted you to flush the engine, the oil changes were NOT done on time.
I do feel for you but considering the things you said and considering the things you obviously left out, this appears to be owner abuse of at least 2 of your admitted 3 engines.
I'm not claiming hyundai/kia are the pinacle of manufacturing greatness, but these newer small engines from most all oem's are machined to high tolerances causing lack of maintenance to be a significant cause of engine failure. You CAN'T go 10k miles between oil changes (I don't care what the manufacturer says) never mind 20k/once a year if you remember. 3-5k AT MOST.
This isn't the old days of chevy/ford v8's and straight 6's that could take the lack of oil changes.
I hope you get this problem corrected.
I have a 2012 elantra limited with 150k I bought new in August 2011. I change the oil every 3-5k from new and the engine purrs like a kitten. Yes I have had to replace items that broke that I felt shouldn't have like the shifter cable and one of the front springs but overall the car has been extremely reliable.
Whatever your next vehicle is, please do your oil changes NO MORE than 5 thousand miles.
Oil is cheap. As you know, engines and the labor to replace them are not.
@@lanky-x782 if the manufacturer says 10k oil changes and he followed that then they owe him coverage. however I’ve always done my oil changes at or before 5k and my 2010 Elantra is at 220k miles 2.0L NA with 4spd automatic no turbos no direct injection no cvt. i do hear valve or maybe cam phaser noise at startup and a more corse engine note under load but it not burning oil and i run top grade premium fuel which fixed the light ignition knock i was hearing on acceleration and climbing hills.
@tellucas if the oem says your transmission fluid is good for life (which they do) and your transmission dies at 100k miles and outside the warranty, will the manufacturer cover it even though you did what they say? Or should you have had the trans fluid drained and refilled around 50k even though the manufacturer said you didn't need to but your transmission still works after 100k? NO fluid is "for life."
I'm sorry. People need to be smarter. People saying "I did what I was told" or "I trust the science" are really saying they are avoiding taking personal responsibility.
Anyone who really thinks 10k oil changes are ok really shouldn't be owning a car.
I get why cars aren't being maintained because of how expensive mechanics can be, but maybe learning to do the simple things like changing the oil or air filter or keeping the tires properly inflated may be a good thing.
I know from this experience that I will change my oil every 4 months at most but they said under warranty at a certain amount of mileage I would need to flush my system so it has nothing to do with my failure of changing the oil.
@lanky-x782 I know the lifetime fluid is BS, especially when I've seen a manufacturer say lifetime in the American market but recommend fluid service in another market for the same vehicle.
@@tellucastry Valvaline Restore and Protect oil. It works
With ya there we have 2014 Santa fe never again
It seems like only a few years ago when a new Kia was less that $10k.
Auto Mechanic here of 15+ years ,,, Yes you should have never bought any hyundai/kia vehicle , they literally are junk .. Sorry to hear about your situation . If I were you I would bite the bullet and trade the car off for a Toyota SUV . Be sure to never follow manufactures suggested Oil change intervals , 3000- 5000 miles MAX ! .
After the second engine he should have gotten rid of it.
Beyond the pale that he did not
What made you buy a Hyundai? They are literally the Yugo of modern times? I shake my head whenever I see people driving them. I’m like who in their right mind buys South Korean junk when you have so many other better options.
I bought it 5 years ago but wouldn’t have if I knew now how they are.
You didn't say how many miles you had on this vehicle
Hyundai / Kia EVs are also garbage.
The recall covers 145,234 Hyundai and Genesis EVs, along with 62,872 Kia EV6s. The covered vehicles have an issue with their Integrated Charging Control Units (ICCUs), which is responsible for charging the low-voltage 12-volt battery using power from the high-voltage system. The ICCU is a common failure point on Hyundai, Genesis and Kia EVs on the E-GMP platform, and if it fails it'll stop charging the 12-volt battery. The 12-volt going flat can lead to a loss of drive power, causing the car to suddenly lose power and speed.
Hyundai's are a hit or miss over the last ten years some of their engines are complete garbage. I have a 2008 Hyundai accent it's been super reliable for me and the engine is never given me any issues just regular maintenance. When your buying a new Hyundai make sure to look up the engine code and see how long it's been in service and any common issues
Yes - new Hyundais are crap. The OLD Hyundais are bullet proof though - like pre 2010 ish. Something with a beta II or delta engine with an old 4 speed transmission is what you want. Those are 300K mile cars.
@@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow I have a 2011 Hyundai Equus with the 4.6L V8. Bulletproof car IF you maintain it. Currently 129k on the ODO. Only issues so far are minor electrical, no engine or drivetrain problems
Hyundai and Kia are too busy trying to copy other cars styles and looks like Volvo to do any engine innovations.
Did you get "Theta'd"?
LS swap the engine. That would be some great RUclips content!
Bought a new Kia Ceed here in Sweden. Broke down two times the first year. So.... Kia/ Hyundai
I have a 2019 Santa Fe Ultimate with the base engine ( non-turbo). Just passed 70,000 trouble free miles. Every feature in it has worked flawlessly. By the way, Toyota and Honda are having major engine issues and recalls.
These are isolated cases, it's not across the board. Honda and Toyota are still superior to Hyundai and Kia.
