Have you guys discussed how soon you want to start a family? If it’s a couple years down the road you could live somewhere else for a time and move back to Ohio (if you’re still inclined to) when you’re ready. This is the only time in your life when you get to make that decision without having to factor what’s best for the children. I’d take advantage of it now and not ever wonder “what if.”

I think one thing this is really showing both of you is that you are truly a team and truly happy TOGETHER! The common theme is that you're happy when you're together - regardless of where that is!

What really helps me in making big life changing decisions is that nothing is permanent, you can always change your mind. So let's say you decide to move to Charlotte and buy a house here, but a year down the line, you feel like you really miss that vicinity of your families and "old" friends, of course you're allowed to pick up things, sell the house and move some place more desirable. Maybe it's not the most convenient thing to do, but certainly, it's not impossible.
This way of thinking takes away so much weight I personally put on those decisions that becomes a little bit easier to see what I really want and not "need" to do. I hope it helps 🤞🏻

Ultimately you’ll know what feels right for *you*, but as someone in their mid-30s who got married and had a baby over the last couple last years, if I were in your shoes, I’d really try to make the most of the freedom you have right now. You’ve set up your life to be able to travel and live anywhere for the time being. Nothing is impossible, but once you settle down and have kids, you might not have an opportunity like this for a while because your priorities will change by necessity. Savor this moment! You’re still young :)

Clancy as an outsider looking in, I think Cincinnati is your comfort zone and it is comfortable. I get it, we live in cincy too and my husbands family is here. Everyone says we shld stay if we plan on having kids because it takes a village. It is a hard decision but if you can realize that cincy is your comfort zone it might help you make a decision on whether or not you want to get out of your comfort zone. Praying for your clarity!🥰

As a new mom - if you have family you get along with, being near them is a god send. I have leaned heavily on my family and in laws. I don't know how I would have survived that first year without them. So if you're considering kids anytime soon, I would highly suggest being near one of your families.

I went through the same thing when I first got married. We didn’t own anything yet and I tried to convince my husband we should move south just for the experience because neither of us had ever lived somewhere other than our hometown. We never did for lots of reasons but then started having kids and bought land in our hometown and built a home. So now we’re gonna be here for at least 18 years😂 I don’t regret it too much because we can still go places on vacation, it’s just a bit harder now!

I’ve been dealing with chronic illness since 2014, and just started getting symptoms of ulcerative colitis. I thought I had healed my stomach issues (ibs/sibo related) but it’s always another day another new symptom. Thankfully my doctors in nyc have helped way more than the ones I saw in Denver. You’re not alone in constantly feeling like shit and not getting answers. Hope you feel better soon or at the very least find some type of relief!

I was 19 when I bought my house.
Make sure you look at location, school zone. Also look at interest rates. Make sure it is locked in and won't change.
As far as having a child, I bought my house and wasn't pregnant. I moved an hour away. It is really hard for family to come and help. If i was closer it would be easier. I will say I love my house how I do wish I had house goals, lol . I wish it was closer because it is harder for my child to bond with family because they are over an hour away.
You all will decide what is best no matter what
A house is an investment. Good luck

I moved to the UK from Australia, got married and now having baby #2. I am 27 hour flight away from all of my family and my husband is a 3 hour flight away from his family. Yes being far away from your family when you have kids can be hard, but you cherish your family so much more in my opinion if your far away and travel to see them. For us it just makes sense. I grew up living far away from my grandparents and always LOVED getting on a plane and having a big holiday in a different country visiting family every year 😊

It’s okay to change your mind. Here is more food for thought (not to over complicate things). Maybe Charlotte is the sweet spot. Warmer, but you still have seasons, not as far as FL from both of ya’ll’s parents so that means more possibility of visiting a bit more or them visiting you more. And also close enough to do beaches on the weekends if you wanted.

Hi Clancy, I also think your rising anxiety is when you do not feel in control and for the moment; the finding a home is sending your stress and anxiety levels through the roof and your body carries the lung, digestive symptoms are an added side effect of your rising anxiety. But you process life through your prefrontal lobes and you are very right brain and by being analytical and problem solving - anxiety serves to motivate you to try to solve a problem - you cannot resolve in a moment eg finding a new home and spending your hard earned money - and this is one of the biggest decisions of your life - this is not an easy decision to make - and all of the latter results in your rising anxiety. Hope this helps.

Pick a warm place that has consistent, direct, cheap flights to both Ohio and New York. Then family visits with the baby will be easier. My husband and I are expecting our first baby early this summer, and my family lives in Canada and his lives overseas! We don't have any friends in our state yet, lol. But despite living far, we have QUALITY visits when we do visit home. When I lived near family I didn't see them more often than I do now, haha. Why don't you and Zach get an Airbnb in St. Pete for a month or two, and then see how you feel about things after that? I say this because live abroad, and my friends and I always talk about how going back home is like stepping back into the Matrix. It's comfortable, easy, and fun, but there's a reason that we left. If we all got complacent in the "comfortability" of home, we'd be cutting our potential short! Obviously, doing that isn't the right decision for everyone, but I can totally relate to how you're feeling and wanted to throw in my two cents!

I'll also add that it is SO NICE being able to go home for a visit! At least for my fiance and I, when we come back home, we spend so much more *quality* time with everyone that we love. It's different than when we lived there (in a really good way). The nice thing about your job and Zach's job is that if you do decide to move away and have kids, you can spend long stints visiting both of your families (if you want). It's kind of the best of both worlds. That's a huge bonus!

You can always be a “snowbird” and go south for the winter months. Own close to family and go on lots of warm vacations.

Sinus stuff can cause nausea so hopefully the meds will fix it. What you say about staying there makes perfect sense. You have the freedom to rent an air b&b for a month or 2 in FL over winter if you want. At least until you have kids in school. Friends and family once you have kids will be important.

You can always vacation in Florida, especially since you both work remote. You could probably go to FL for several weeks a year and still be saving money by living in Ohio!

But Clancy… I hear you. I’ve lived away from my friends and family and it was horrible and I felt so lonely. On the other hand even though Ohio feels perfect there’s a reason you guys went in this nomad journey. There’s a reason you wanted to head south and I think it was mainly the weather. Mainly because you wanted to enjoy the entire year and not just half. I get both sides and like y’all said the other day because you have so many options it makes it more difficult. I think when you do eventually make this final decision don’t take in JUST your current emotion. Take in everything. How many times would you see Zacs parents when you lived there? If the answer is once every two months then it’s not worth it to stay when you can still travel with both of you having that freedom. And I get it if st Pete renting and the prices is still too much but just take in everything

Lovely message about how excited you were to find this type of church service. Thanks for being comfortable sharing. I don’t remember you being sick until recently so I’m not sure why people would make a negative comment.

A different prospective… I moved from Texas (where all my friends and family live) to Florida in august. I have three children. And I’m only 25. And it has been the absolute best. I’m so happy here. It’s like I’m on vacation all the time. My husband is an entrepreneur. While I miss my family and friends… there were so many signs for me to move to Florida.

Something that helps me when I have my stomach issues is drinking tea. Just something warm and refreshing. Mint tea and green tea specifically. It usually does the trick and I have an easier time eating.
Also I totally empathize with the hate comments when you're sick part. I have chronic illnesses and if I ever complain (which I hardly do) I get criticized for it? I mean if you are sick I can understand talking about it. Hope you start feeling better soon! Take it easy!

Looking forward to seeing the home you will be touring tomorrow. No question staying near family has so many pluses. One reason I have lived in Charlotte my entire life, my parents live in Charlotte and both of my grandmothers lived in Charlotte until their passing. One thing for sure, buying a home is far better than renting for the majority of people. The only real reason to rent is if one is planning on moving often. Good luck on your journey, homeownership will unfortunately escape alot of young buyers in the next decade due to cost, rates etc.

Praying for you. Hope you feel better soon! I'm glad you're enjoying church. It's a wonderful thing to discover a church that you love, and a preaching style that you enjoy. Also church families are nice just because of the support you gain with them, and it's a GREAT way to meet friends especially if you start getting involved in things around the church. Anyway, Ohio is a fantastic place to live, despite the weather and the current issues with fires, and train derailmnets. I lived here my entire life (Near Akron/Canton) area, so I can see Zac's side of thing when he doesn't really want to stay in Ohio. It's a common thing around people who were born, and raised here. You just kind of want to get the heck out of there. Moving is a big choice, that you can't always change too quickly especially if you're buying a house. Good Luck, I'm praying for you guys to find peace with any decision you make. ❤

My 2 cents: Buying a house with the mortgage rate so high...7%. That's pretty high if you guys get 30 year mortgage...of course you can always change it if it lowers but you still have to pay to change to lower rate. We are looking to buy a house (our current house we have 4% mortgage rate) but putting it on hold until rates get a little lower. It's weird to predict because we're not in recession because of low unemploymet but then inflation is still a thing.
