This makes me feel different than the original. Sure, both versions scare the crap out of me, but this one feels different and I don’t know how to describe it lol
To me this one feels like the singer’s are mocking the protagonist way more harshly. Showing them that he’s weak and that no one will ever understand or help them.
0:46 the way he sings this part in a very melancholic yet kinda evil way + the voice effect make this part sound so weird in the best way possible and it gets even better and sadder when you know what the music is about very good mr hawley
i haven't fully gotten through the demos but imma make the bold claim of biggest banger, cause this is my favorite part of the mind electric as is, and then his voice is super fucking beautiful and he does amazing things with it??? like how does it get better???
@@Deezboyofficial its literally about pretending being insane to get out of a punishment then being forced into electroshock and going insane from the "therapy" therefore becoming a worse punishment then if he just proclaimed guilty.
the transition from the mind electric to labyrinth slaps so extraordinarily hard that it makes me smile every time i hear it. The Mind Electric is without a doubt my favorite song (the distorted version of course)
0:48 I sounds like they originally were going to make this part of The Mind Electric but I think this specific rhythm split into what we now know as Labyrinth
Lyrics: [Verse 1] See how the serfs work the ground (See how they) And they give it all they've got (Fall) And you give it all you've got (Fall) 0 And we give it all we've got 'till we're down (Ha ha ha ha) See how the brain plays around And you fall inside a hole you couldn't see And you fall inside a hole, inside a Someone help me Understand what's going on inside my mind Doctor I can't tell if I'm not me! [Verse 2] See how I laugh at you You'll never understand No, you'll never understand No, you'll never ever ever understand See how I run from you I'll never ever ever understand No, I'll never ever ever understand (EEAAAAA!)
I guess it could be portrayed that way. The song itself is about Electroshock Therapy but i guess I can see where you could get that due to the song tone.
I think ultimately the song is about how the brain is a machine but one we can’t see into the workings of or see working in real time- and in the back half, it’s about how our minds can trap and enslave us in ways no other entity could. Social Anxiety is just another of the many holes we can fall inside without seeing. To me, this song is what it’s like when intrusive thoughts, regrets, fears and anxiety move in when you are just about to fall asleep.
Every song and every story can be read in many ways, surface and deep. No idea is more wrong or right, all that matters is how you perceive it. On the surface of The Mind Electric, wrongfully accused man gets sent to an Asylum and electro shocked, probably for murdering his girlfriend two songs back. Down deep, I read about how it's about a circle of negative thoughts, how the song goes forward and then reverse in a looping motion-the door to freedom always leading back to the courtroom where you are sentenced. It's about imprisonment of course, but there are cells inside your head as well, ones you construct around yourself. Guilt. Shame. Fear. Regret. Like Kimball says. The man in the song seems to believe he's not truly guilty of anything, however, (though he seems to have regrets) that he didn't see this problem coming, and begs for help and mercy that no one seems to be able to give him. The tone I got from the song was one of sympathy-for the man who fell into a hole he couldn't see.
@@christopherkimball350 I like this comment ^ I love collecting all the different meanings people find in this song. my fav at the mo is as follows: the idea of pleading insane seems a bit simple, instead, he pleads that humans cannot be held accountable for something they think, because Thinking is simply a complex electrical circuit, a 'Exposing closing circuitry of fright' where we are driven by impulse and all thoughts are predetermined. this argument is interpreted by the judge as an admission of insanity. but he's not insane, he just thinks that his heart is insane, and controlling him. This argument is his destruction. in the line "Scattering sparks of thought energy Deliver me and carry me away" this is as good as stated. He is then kept in a kind of infirmary. *The mind electric* , if you will. this mind electric is his belief/ theory that he is not control of his thoughts. Eventually, after a vast journey through his mind electric, he uncovers the idea that he is truly in control. maybe this is through outside influence from a doctor, or through simply having an original thought, i dont know, but he decides that his mind is his own, which is 'calming if you look at it right.' This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't like the idea of Hawaii part II being about the twin towers. It makes me feel like the creative messages are blanked out/corrupted by the one blanket theory: it's about politics. ok thanks for listening to my rant. have a nice day.
To those who don't understand why there isn't a scream at the end of final version That scream is supposed to insinuate the main character getting the electric chair. In the original meaning is that it's supposed to be electroshock therapy, which yet is horrible. Doesn't end there. The electroshock therapy caused him to get schizophrenia and caused his brain to fry a bit. Causing him to walk into the ocean in Dream Sweet in Sea Major, that is how he dies. Not Electric Chair. Yet it would've been interesting if this was the ending
wow I love the last part SEE HOW I LAUGH AT YOU YOU'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND NO, YOU'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND NO, YOU'LL NEVER EVER EVER UNDERSTAND SEE HOW I RUN FROM YOU I'LL NEVER EVER EVER UNDERSTAND NO, I'LL NEVER EVER EVER UNDERSTAND
its a small detail, but i really love how in the verses after 'see how the serfs work the ground' the pronouns chance from they to you to we in each repetition of it. it adds to that chaotic vibe imo, i wish it was kept in the final version
I love the change at: "see how i laught at you? you'll never understand, no you'll never understand" "see how i run from you? i'll never understand, no i'll never understand"
Well then you should listen To tally hall (3 members of that band were also in this project) and joe hawley (tally hall member) is the main songwriter and the person who came up with this album
I love this version, wish they included the ending in the original. The scream at the end is so haunting & disconnected, especially how it cuts off at the end.
About the labyrinth part. I've always thought that the woman part in labyrinth, could represent Simons lover. In his head or not. In this context "see how i laugh at you" is bone chilling to me. Bravo joe hawley.
Idk if it is only me ,but everytime when I hear "aaAAAAAÆÆÆÆEEEEEee" at the end of this song I want scream like someting was inside me and want leave my body. I love it
That “See how I laugh at you” part sounds so villainous. It makes me imagine a partial story. A hero finally captures the villain who killed the hero’s family. The villain is given the electric shock therapy, and as he is being shocked, he mocks and taunts the hero with the “You’ll never understand” telling him that he’ll never understand why he killed the hero’s entire family, he’ll never understand why he did the things he did to the hero. Also, the “See how I run from you” part is the villain, his brain going crazy from the shocks, starts mocking himself and saying how he’ll never understand why he runs from the hero. I don’t know. My stories sound so much better in my head compared to when I try to type it out or explain it.
The last minute was by far the best part of the original song, the rest sounded like a good song was chopped up in a blender. As far as I’m concerned this extended version of the last minute is the real song. The voice doesn’t sound quite as good but other than that it’s great.
@@FelixCattus hohoho wrong again. The Mind Electric was first planned all the way back in 2006 as "Inside the Mind of Simon" (Demo 3 being that) so the original in intention was not to be part of Labryinth due to the full possibility of Labyrinth not being thought of when this demo (which was possibly made before Tally Hall went into a hiatus) therefore originally not being Labryinth. Was the part later used for the creation of Labryinth, yes. was it originally going to be Labryinth, most likely no.
Okay I need to talk about this demo because MY GOD it's great! I love the overdriven electric guitar slide (I hope that I am correct with that terminology) on each beat in the first half I really like how the lyrics are "and they give it all they've got" "and you give it all you've got" "and we give it all we've got" as opposed to the original I don't know why but it sounds really good The backing instruments don't get enough credit ESPECIALLY THE PIANO in the second half The vocal effects in the second half with the reverb and slight distortion sounds SO GOOD THE SCREECH AT THE END IS THE CHERRY ON TOP IT SOUNDS SO GUTTERAL!!!
I’m not one to comment on older videos, since I am pretty sure those comments will go unnoticed. But whether this gets seen or not, I’m so glad that this version of The Mind Electric has a million views. I’m new to the Tally Hall community, but that hasn’t stopped me from wanting more to notice them or work relating to them. This demo is so good, and I am so happy it got this much attention that it absolutely deserves, if not, more. Yeah it’s a re-upload, but any attention to one of the most beloved bands nowadays is great. It’s only a matter of time until Tally Hall gets even more popular some time in the future, and it all starts with a piece of the past getting a million views on RUclips. And to this dedicated fandom, thank you for introducing so many, including me, to such a wonderful band. I doubt I’m the only person who’s life is slowly becoming entirely Tally Hall related. In short, I’m glad this demo got a million views, it deserves all of that and more. And thank you to the whole community that has brought so many people to notice an amazing band.
I'd sell my body and soul to hear this in the finished song Oh my good God I found the ultimate mix up omg oh lord oh god I'm clawing my eyes out and burying them in the yard so Earth can collect its bounty
Personal theory of mine: So in the completed version of "the mind electric" the main character pleads for insanity, leading to them being sent to the infirmary for electric therapy leading to them turning actually insane But in this version it seems the main character didn't plead for insanity instead they get sentenced to death by electric chair The line "see how i laugh at you" could both mean that he enjoyed killing the girl (from murdes) and laughing at how helpless the girl was or them literally laughing at the judge for thinking this is a punishment Also the line "you'll never understand" might be him mocking the judge, saying how the judge will never understand why he killed the girl One more thing, the line "see how i run from you" might mean the main character running away from the voices of the girl echoing in his mind Also the demonic scream in the end might be him screaming in the electric chair as he dies
i honestly love looking at theories of this album, because i never really understood where this album came from but it seems interesting learning the lore. anyways, going off of your theory, what if the character in this version is possibly fake pleading in the first part of the demo, where he says “help me understand whats going on inside my mind, doctor i cant tell if im not me” to try and avoid the death penalty but in reality when the voice changes and says “see how i laugh at you” is his true self with his sick intentions of murder, but perhaps the judge saw through the act and he was still sentenced anyways
@@brynyx7106 That actually makes sense! I always thought that the second took place in a jail cell, where he is trapped in his mind replaying those memories for his own sick pleasures while he's awaiting his death Also the line "I'll never understand" might be him questioning why he is being haunted by the girls voice if he enjoyed killing her.
its about you pretending to be someone your not and you keep doing it but the mind cant handle it getting multiple people in your head and repeating untill your too deep into the people in your head you cant tell who you are who is the real you and you try and try but just cant figure out who you are figuring out as the people in your head laugh at you when you realize your to late this is your new life the labyrinth is in your mind you cant escape it moves and moves changing always ending up in the start
the voice that sings the lines “see how i laugh at you” and “see how i run from you” may have been the guilt of killing his wife haunting him. They probably laughed together and in her last moments she probably tried to run from him he voice is so distorted because (he’s crazy) and because he feels guilt over her murder also this kinda proves (if the voice is his wife) that he definitely wasn’t framed
Wtf three years ago this had like 150k views now it's at damn near 1 million! Well deserved though, of all the demos, this one has me head banging the most
I love this, reminds me of in 2019 I was kind of depressed and everyone made fun of me, it was because my brother had passed in February and he didn't even make it to his 20's. I wish I could go back to that time and say 0:47 to 0:58. I miss ya bro.
I kinda showed my dad miracle musical last night. Then we sang weezer for no apparent reason. I love my dad so much . He doesn't reeaaally like miracle musical..but i want to show him this. I only showed him Mind electric and Labyrinth. I need to show him Murders and this. Edit: i showed him tally hall and he found it "alright" and he said he liked Zubin because hes now a doctor
this song played at the end of my nightmare as my teachers eyes turned into giant black orbs and she started deteriorating right infront of me while chaos happened in the bg. banger tbh

since people are getting surprised about Labyrinth and The Mind Electric being somewhat connected, the entirety of this album is connected.
i have a working theory that literally everything to do with tally hall is connected, for instance, the references to some of their older songs in variations on a cloud, or variations on a cloud appearing YEARS before anything else in T.H.I.S. (i think it was episode 10)

I always thought this song was an accurate presentation of social anxiety
I guess it could be portrayed that way. The song itself is about Electroshock Therapy but i guess I can see where you could get that due to the song tone.
I think ultimately the song is about how the brain is a machine but one we can’t see into the workings of or see working in real time- and in the back half, it’s about how our minds can trap and enslave us in ways no other entity could. Social Anxiety is just another of the many holes we can fall inside without seeing. To me, this song is what it’s like when intrusive thoughts, regrets, fears and anxiety move in when you are just about to fall asleep.
@@christopherkimball350 no
Every song and every story can be read in many ways, surface and deep.
@@christopherkimball350 I like this comment ^
I love collecting all the different meanings people find in this song. my fav at the mo is as follows:
the idea of pleading insane seems a bit simple, instead, he pleads that humans cannot be held accountable for something they think, because Thinking is simply a complex electrical circuit, a 'Exposing closing circuitry of fright' where we are driven by impulse and all thoughts are predetermined. this argument is interpreted by the judge as an admission of insanity. but he's not insane, he just thinks that his heart is insane, and controlling him.
This argument is his destruction. in the line "Scattering sparks of thought energy
Deliver me and carry me away" this is as good as stated.
He is then kept in a kind of infirmary. *The mind electric* , if you will. this mind electric is his belief/ theory that he is not control of his thoughts.
Eventually, after a vast journey through his mind electric, he uncovers the idea that he is truly in control. maybe this is through outside influence from a doctor, or through simply having an original thought, i dont know, but he decides that his mind is his own, which is 'calming if you look at it right.'
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't like the idea of Hawaii part II being about the twin towers. It makes me feel like the creative messages are blanked out/corrupted by the one blanket theory: it's about politics.

To those who don't understand why there isn't a scream at the end of final version
That scream is supposed to insinuate the main character getting the electric chair. Yet it would've been interesting if this was the ending
the FLAVOR! i love that guttural scream at the end
I'll never ever ever understand.

Epic lore
The last minute was by far the best part of the original song, the rest sounded like a good song was chopped up in a blender. As far as I’m concerned this extended version of the last minute is the real song. The voice doesn’t sound quite as good but other than that it’s great.
imo the last part of mind electric isn't nearly as good without the buildup of everything before it. it's the bohemian rhapsody of tally hall.
Always thought that the "somebody help me" sounded a lot like "can anybody find me" riff from Queen
There's actually a cover of this song by I believe Darth Calculus Music that references the "can anybody find me" riff at that part!
I imagine this is the mind electric seen by anyone outside of the protagonist
Someone help me, I can’t stop repeating this, it’s stuck in my head, it’s just so good!
This song makes me die backwards
so it makes you born ?
or does it make you eid
upsilon dies backward
DUDE THATS LABRYNTH
hohoho you are wrong
@@FelixCattus hohoho wrong again. The Mind Electric was first planned all the way back in 2006 as "Inside the Mind of Simon" (Demo 3 being that) so the original in intention was not to be part of Labryinth due to the full possibility of Labyrinth not being thought of when this demo (which was possibly made before Tally Hall went into a hiatus) therefore originally not being Labryinth. Was the part later used for the creation of Labryinth, yes. was it originally going to be Labryinth, most likely no.
I see you everywhere
I genuinely love this. I love it alot more than the finished version in a weird way?
This demo will always be my favorite one
*casually starts screaming*
THIS
IS
WHAT
I
NEEDED
IN
MY
LIFE
MY LIFE IS COMPLETE
i mean joe is a person you can say "casually start screaming"
this demo didn’t give me chills it froze me to death
Okay I need to talk about this demo because MY GOD it's great!
I love the overdriven electric guitar slide (I hope that I am correct with that terminology) on each beat in the first half
I really like how the lyrics are "and they give it all they've got" "and you give it all you've got" "and we give it all we've got" as opposed to the original I don't know why but it sounds really good
The backing instruments don't get enough credit ESPECIALLY THE PIANO in the second half
The vocal effects in the second half with the reverb and slight distortion sounds SO GOOD
THE SCREECH AT THE END IS THE CHERRY ON TOP IT SOUNDS SO GUTTERAL!!!
I'd sell my body and soul to hear this in the finished song
Oh my good God I found the ultimate mix up omg oh lord oh god I'm clawing my eyes out and burying them in the yard so Earth can collect its bounty
WHAT THE FLIP IS THE VIDEO NAME I MUST HEAR
@@ThirteentheInteger mind electric ultimate mashup (wear headphones) by allytall I think
I am convinced that letting out a scream like that would fix all of my problems
Pure gold.
agreed
But not the song pure gold
everyones sleeping on the "SEE HOW THE BRAIN PLAYS AROHOHOHOUND" GAWD DAMN THAT AROUND IS SO GOOD?!?!
Personal theory of mine:
So in the completed version of "the mind electric" the main character pleads for insanity, leading to them being sent to the infirmary for electric therapy leading to them turning actually insane
But in this version it seems the main character didn't plead for insanity instead they get sentenced to death by electric chair
The line "see how i laugh at you" could both mean that he enjoyed killing the girl (from murdes) and laughing at how helpless the girl was or them literally laughing at the judge for thinking this is a punishment
Also the line "you'll never understand" might be him mocking the judge, saying how the judge will never understand why he killed the girl
One more thing, the line "see how i run from you" might mean the main character running away from the voices of the girl echoing in his mind
Also the demonic scream in the end might be him screaming in the electric chair as he dies
i honestly love looking at theories of this album, because i never really understood where this album came from but it seems interesting learning the lore.
anyways, going off of your theory, what if the character in this version is possibly fake pleading in the first part of the demo, where he says “help me understand whats going on inside my mind, doctor i cant tell if im not me” to try and avoid the death penalty but in reality when the voice changes and says “see how i laugh at you” is his true self with his sick intentions of murder, but perhaps the judge saw through the act and he was still sentenced anyways
@@brynyx7106 That actually makes sense!
I always thought that the second took place in a jail cell, where he is trapped in his mind replaying those memories for his own sick pleasures while he's awaiting his death
Also the line "I'll never understand" might be him questioning why he is being haunted by the girls voice if he enjoyed killing her.
@@ST.lantorits definitely show at least 2 different versions of himself lol
its about you pretending to be someone your not and you keep doing it but the mind cant handle it getting multiple people in your head and repeating untill your too deep into the people in your head you cant tell who you are who is the real you and you try and try but just cant figure out who you are figuring out as the people in your head laugh at you when you realize your to late this is your new life the labyrinth is in your mind you cant escape it moves and moves changing always ending up in the start
Blessed audio
To me, that scream sounded like nails being scraped on a chalkboard.
HOW DID I JUST KNOW THERE'S A DEMO OF THE SONG AFTER ALL THESE YEARS? I also love this already
Might be one of the most famous demos of all time and it deserves ALL the hype!!!
the voice that sings the lines “see how i laugh at you” and “see how i run from you” may have been the guilt of killing his wife haunting him.
They probably laughed together and in her last moments she probably tried to run from him
he voice is so distorted because (he’s crazy) and because he feels guilt over her murder
also this kinda proves (if the voice is his wife) that he definitely wasn’t framed
I love the joe the hawley so much
its so good i started busting everywhere
Wtf three years ago this had like 150k views now it's at damn near 1 million!
Well deserved though, of all the demos, this one has me head banging the most
The background singers in the first part will ALWAYS be my favorite part
I love this, reminds me of in 2019 I was kind of depressed and everyone made fun of me, it was because my brother had passed in February and he didn't even make it to his 20's. I wish I could go back to that time and say 0:47 to 0:58. I miss ya bro.

Lyrics:
See how the serfs work their ground
(see how they fall)
And they give it all they’ve got
And you give it all you’ve got
And we give it all we’ve got till we’re down

See how the brain plays around
And you fall inside a hole you couldn’t see
And you fall inside a hole inside a someone help me
Understand what’s going on inside my mind
Doctor I can’t tell if I’m not me
