i think this is how it works..Hold the bottom part (that screws on to the bottle) FIRMLY..don't let it turn. Now turn the Upper part counter clockwise a few times and POP(?!)..it OPENS. Process can even be reversed,as he explains,but its a little messy

I was so embarrassed I couldn't do this. They also give you no indication on how to proceed, at least not on the Neutrogena cleanser bottles which only served to intensify my feelings of inadequacy.
When I just tried to open mine, It took me 30 minutes. So I held the shoulder, put it in the locked position, and beat the top of the pump with a meat tenderizer. And it immediately was unlocked and the pump still works.

The pump top on the Kroger Simple Truth Organic Baby Shampoo & Body Wash looks identical to the one you used for your example, and I struggled for about 10 minutes each of three times and never got it unlocked. Many curse words were uttered in my wife's bathroom. Your demonstration made it easy. You have earned your place in Heaven (well, if there were a Heaven you would have!).
I had a similar problem with hand soap, and found that tightening up the cap fully allowed the pump to unlock when turning anti-clockwise (this was the kind where the pump pops up when unlocked). If the cap is just a bit loose the pump will just spin around and nothing happens.
Thank you. This video revealed the secret. I had to use a pair of pliers on the pump neck to stop it from turning with the pump head. Finally, I unlocked it.

Let me tell you that I struggled for a good half of an hour trying to open this thing and I thought that I was doing what you recommended already before watching this video. It worked! Thank you. I dread trying to open these bottles. I have a bottle of hand soap here from Whole Foods. It opens in the other direction from your bottle, so I first turned it to the right and then to the left and it opened right away!
