Hello, i'm a beginner guitarist and I wanted to know if for a pre-amp (like the Valvestate 8100) did you only need speakers or do you also need an amp?

Had one recently and liked it was like a boosted recto just didn't have the power and push behind it

This is running into a 16 ohm cab so it loses a little. A 4 ohm cab would be optimal

I have the same head,run a maxon st9pro + super tube in front of dirty channel and a guptech presence depth in loop and it sounds amazing

Great amp. Used to grab these for 99$ shipped from the GC used section. Wish I still had mine. I swapped the old ECC83 (marshall branded) for a 12AT7 (lower gain) then used an OD out front. Ts9 or SD1, I LOVE that fryette cab!!! Fanes in there? Sounds bitey yet smooth. If that makes sense

Yeah. I paid way too much for this one. lol But it's fully functional and excellent shape, so I was willing. I swapped the stock tube for a Chinese 12Ax7B silver dragon. The Fryette cab has Fane F70s in it. Killer cab no doubt. I had 3 at one point, down to this last one.

lol, yeah they don't come for $99 any more lol...but i did get mine for $250 in the past 1.5 years cause it may or may not have issues...OD2 still sounds killer...used a Palmer CabMerge to Parallel my 2 x 8ohm cabs...for 4 ohms lol...sounded "big"

Great stuff. I just ordered one for 455 shipped. Debating on which 12AX7 to replace the stock one with.

This is America. It's was pretty clean with it's footswitch. Honestly the cheapest I could find one for after about 5 months of searching. Everyone elses was FUBARd in the tolex or missing reverb tanks/knobs or like outs.
These have been sitting around the 500-700 range for some weird reason. This and the vh140C are oddly priced high.

@@theonegoose nah man I get it. These go south fairly often though. Make sure you take care of it, because there are some known issues with power handling across the board. Mine fluctuates from working to not working. Luckily, the OD2 channel works well. I’m trying to get one close to me, because the man is selling it for fairly cheap. I got mine last year for $250 because of these issues that it had.

@@DropB It's a supply and demand thing and there haven't been many in good condition pop up for sale. I'd say the ampeg vh140 and crate 130c are even more Ludacris in price
