It’s wonderful to see this done to preserve any island in the Chesapeake . I’d love to see this done for Tangier Island VA. To preserve an Island that is populated and to preserve that quaint and historical community. This island is eroding at a shocking pace!
This was done years ago to Hart-miller island now a water accessible park only and bird sanctuary. Glad to see that the Federal government has interest in saving our islands. Also do you know the historical size of Barren Island?
Barren Island was connected to James Island turn of century. Families lived on Barren Island. There was a hunting lodge that went down in 2003, and there was an air strip. Southern end of Barren Island there were headstones in the water.
