good to hear your take on Ball, may try a book of his one day... btw, i recently read The Tennis Players by Lars Gustafsson, some good tennis bits, pretty terrible all around otherwise
I loved Is mother dead. Sorry about Donovan’s brain. I thought it was a fun read. But hey, I have been blown away by Benjamin Labatut’s book The MANIAC.
Coincidentally I read White's "Memories...TV" in August, attracted because I remembered the shows and expected fun. Agree with your assessment, some better than others, but give points for originality of concept. Have you read his "Requiem"? So far I think it''s even better, will look around to see whether you covered it. Enjoyed "My Idea of Home" as you did, but too long ago.
Requiem is my favourite of his, it's where everything comes together really satisfyingly. I reviewed as part of a long video considering US postmodernist fiction, but a few years back now if you can be bothered to track it down
Have had the Albertine title on my list for a while now -- moving it up ! Thanks for all you do.
Thank you very much Mark. Reagrds. Marc

I dislike tennis over all other sports other than gold & horse racing! 🙂Probably explains why I'm inching my way through Infinite Jest
