You have to do the conversion though... about 125 dollars will get you a week of pretty nice food. With the food safety laws in Europe, that stuff isn't legal to sell.
ChesuMori - our own brand food from a few decades ago was pure filth... everything tasted stale and/or like cardboard. Nowadays the own brand food is mostly better than branded, but half the price.

I find that some of Sainsbury's basic range is still quite pricey for what they are. I also find Sainsbury's has the habit if discontinuing products if they become very popular. Beef and onion wellington (I asked one day if they had any in on the 3rd day of looking only to be told "I'm the sixth person to ask that morning but it was discontinued as there was no call for it") Yeah right ¬_¬ Cheese and broccoli wellington (vegetarian option was also pulled from the shelves) American snack mix (also used to be made for Poundland by the same company but was discontinued in both stores) Prawn Laksa microwaveable meal. Was my Nan's favourite meal as well as mine. R.I.P Nan. We all still miss you.
When the merger is finally completed, you should revisit both the Asda smart price and Sainbury's basics week on. I work at Asda and our internal reports suggest a year on year saving for the customers in total to be £1 billion for the first three years with the smart price and basics brands to be the most affected. it would be interesting to see if this merger means you can actually get more for your money on a typical shop or if you'd just save a pound every so often given how many customers both companies serve.

For example you use Coca Cola as an example but at the time of writing this Asda sells 30 can packs for £7.50 but Sainsbury's sells 18 can packs for £7. As I say neither is overall cheaper which is why I live in an advantageous area to do half the shopping at one and the other half at the other.

Edit; The same could be said for the dinner. The chops could have been oven roasted, then a light pan fry on either side for texture and aesthetic.

Its £77 for the week, but how much of that would go into the following week? Also, what do you do with the unused stuff? guess you have sainsburys in your kitchen for months after.

Barn eggs aren't much better than caged eggs. Theyre still enclosed in a small space, squished in with a lot of other birds. The difference between barn eggs and free range is that barn dont get any sunlight, free range get small windows where sunlight can get into the barn. Egg production is really quite disgusting. I'll only eat eggs from my own chickens that are happily roaming in my garden.

2000 is nothing. I eat 2600 easy if I'm frontloading food. No avocados. Lots of meat.

Yup, it's the same here in Denmark. We have a fairly relaxed attitude towards alcohol in most of Europe. That or we are just a bunch of drunkards😋

I always buy sainsburys basics ketchup , stuffing and yorkshires. With the stuffing I just a pinch of thyme and a clove of garlic chopped .
You can’t go wrong with any supermarket basics in veg , bread etc ..but Sainsbury’s basics cereal is rank as are the ready meals as is the gravy 😂

Barn eggs aren't much better than caged eggs. Theyre still enclosed in a small space, squished in with a lot of other birds. The difference between barn eggs and free range is that barn dont get any sunlight, free range get small windows where sunlight can get into the barn.
Egg production is really quite disgusting. I'll only eat eggs from my own chickens that are happily roaming in my garden.
They got rid of lots of things in the basic range :/ my dad used to only really buy Sainsbury's basics
