  • Here's a game changer! With version 2.01 software for TZtouch3 and the DFF3D Multi Beam Sonar, you can now quickly create your own high-resolution PBG (Personal Bathymetric Generator) Shaded Relief Maps. Instead of just one depth point per ping like some competitor systems, the DFF3D provides 50 depth points. Your own shaded relief maps will be stored on your TZT3 for future use. Now you can know real-time depth contours, pinnacles, valleys, and wrecks on the seafloor.

    Hi Guys, great video. Does the depth record your current tides and adjust for the tide change? I live in an area with 12m of tide movement, if i record at 2m tide, will it show Xm on a Y
    tide?

    Something I’ve been highly anticipating since the area we fish aren’t charted with the detail as others. Where can we get more info and will this only require a software update? Running tzt3(2).

    If I go over the same area twice does it record that area again and save over the existing data? Would a pass from a different angle produce different results? Would a pass at 2 knots generate significantly better results than a pass at 6 knots? The frequency of the generated charts is 165kw? It seems Furuno is suggesting even at 15 knots, the system will produce quality bottom charts. Thanks in advance.

      Because the DFF3D’s unique multi-beam resolution is very high, displayed PBG Shaded Relief maps that are recorded from passes over the same area at different angles are quite consistent. The DFF3D’s high resolution also allows PBG data to be re-written without averaging to show small changes in bottom maps more clearly in real time and with every pass. While PBG recording details and resolution are improved by reducing speed, fish holding structure can still be marked at higher vessel speeds if the transducer has clean water flow. Maximum speed performance is ultimately dependent upon the installed transducer location and the hull design. This is also true with any acoustic transducer installed on any vessel. Note that the Furuno DFF3D has also won the coveted NMEA “Fish Finder” of the year award by itself for the last three years in a row even before PBG was even available in TZtouch3. The DFF3D is a fantastic Fish Finder by itself. PBG is an “Over-The-Top” bonus! If you have additional in depth questions on the DFF3D, please feel free to go to our forum at furunousaforum.com/, where you can create a free account and get answers to your questions from our dealers and technical staff. Tight lines!

    Are the only things needed to do this are: tz touch 3, dff3d sonar, and 165T-b54 transducer?

    • @FurunoMarineElectronics

      Thanks for watching. Yes you need a TZT3 MFD or TZT2BB MFD, the DFF3D Multibeam Sonar, and a DFF3D Transducer like the 165T-B54.

    I had to sell my DFF3d because there was no suitable transducer for my application unfortunately. Will Furuno allow for PBG mapping with normal transducers in future updates? Even if its way less data it would still be a great feature.

    How well does this work in less than 10 feet of water?

    • @FurunoMarineElectronics
      @FurunoMarineElectronics  Год назад

      Hi Michael, thanks for watching! We recommend at least 15 ft. of water for producing PBG, as the beam ratio is 3:1. This means that in 15 feet of water, you would be capturing a 45 foot swath. This also gives enough depth to reduce the amount a duplicate reflection from the multiple beams, thus painting a more detailed picture. We would also recommend a very stable heading sensor, like the SCX20 Satellite Compass, that will keep the bottom smooth as your boat moves around in that shallow of water. Depending on your application, the new CHIRP Side-Scan may be an even better option for delivering detailed returns in shallow water. Take a look at this video for more info on CHIRP Side-Scan: ruclips.net/video/0LdLmc8L09E/видео.html.

    Hi , PBG can be done at cruse speed (20 knots)?

    • @FurunoMarineElectronics
      @FurunoMarineElectronics  3 года назад

      It depends on the transducer installation and how much turbulence you get across the face of the transducer. Turbulence equals poor returns (data points). If the data is poor, degraded due to turbulence, the unit will stop recording and will provide a warning notice. However, you may want to stop recording even before that happens. There is a speed filter in the chart plotter menu toward the bottom. It can be turned on and the speed set. Anything over that speed and it will not record. Max speed setting is 35mph. Default is 15mph.
