The first or second week that his first album, Get Lifted, released, one little club here in El Paso had John Legend performing with no cover charge. There were maybe 300 people there because he was still "unknown" ( if you can believe that). I will never forget that performance. I tried to get my friends to go. I kept telling them, " We're never going to get to see this man play for free ever again". Needless to say they regret it to this day.
