Oh my dear Tiffany, What’s old is new again. This is very old school. I’m 62 and remember doing this as a kid at camp. I’ve had and used stamp sponges for many years and kept the first lace I imprinted because I love it, even 20 years later. Just be careful to heat in well ventilated area as it does off-put gases.
“Vintage,” I love it. I’ve seen so many old is new products lately. I’m so glad. I was sad when they went away. Maybe papercraft stores and classes will return(beading and all the other crafts too!) Return meaning in person, no Covid. We’ll make it. No nasty old virus is gonna beat us! I love the idea of telling our ages, purely voluntary of course-Claudette age 65. Blessings and good health to all❣️🙏🏼🖖
O wowsers, Carol Duvall!! Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in ages. Just had flashbacks to the 90’s! Thanks for inspiring that bit of time travel 😁✌️
Thirty years ago we used the same kind of product. We'd heat it and use our kitchen gadgets, paper clips, rocks and leaves to indent, put paint over it and make cards at camp. Enjoy!
Yes, we also did it with the foam sheet but they're not too thick but they do the same and you can cut the sheets and stack them and that's what I do.✌🏽💙
I love my old Blue Foam! It is so much fun to cobble together random objects, small frames, buttons, nuts and bolts :) etc. Also, if you have children, they probably have some small toys lying around that work great. I hadn't thought of lace or doilies. Brilliant. It's always fun and educational to see an older product come back into play and see what an artist will do with it in a new decade- I think my Blue foam is at least 15 yrs old ! My one recommendation on this is: If at all possible, lay the objects Upside down and Then press the foam onto them. this can help you get a deeper impression.
Going to have to dig out my old blue ones I've never used. My goal is to cut way back on what I spend as well. I have enough products to open a store, just need to use it all!
OMG!!! I was just listening to this video as I was stamping a Valentines card, when I heard you say heat the foam block and push it onto the embossing folder and stamp with it, I turned to look and yes my mouth dropped wide open as well. The different ideas came rushing into my brain!!! Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I’m going to order it today. Thanks so much!!

You did not lie girlfriend. My jaw was firmly in my lap, mind blown. The thought of using them with my embossing folders is incredible. I've seen so many people that want to ink the inside of your embossing folder which is great except for when the part you want to ink is the part that's raised. This will actually let me do that. Total game changer, you've got me sold!
I still had a foam block from years ago, but thank you Simon Hurley for bringing it back! I have all the shapes and sizes now I think. (He brought out a larger size plus heart and circles cut outs). Heat foam is one of the most addictive techniques!
I think you can use the same foam that is used in garden kneeling pads. I tried this years ago with that foam and it has the same effect. Just cut the size you need, heat it with the heat gun and press the design into it. It will capture the impression. Reheat the foam to release the design and start over. Just don't overheat the foam because I remember it will discolor the foam and make it less effective. I had items that I made years ago and the impression was still preserved. I wasn't using them for stamping, but more like a mold for casting plaster.
Garden kneeling pads, like the long flat ones that are around an inch thick. Find the ones that are smooth in texture. Not the ones that are styled. I found mine at Home Depot.

Thank you for this video! Years ago I had some of this foam. But I moved in with my daughter and unfortunately could not take many of my craft supplies with me. Five years later I am free of her tyranny and theft and on my own and I rebought a lot of my favorite supplies, including this foam. Of course it ended up in a drawer but this video made me get it out and I have some small odds shapes, 8 (4x3) blocks and 3 large sheets of it of varying thicknesses, up to 1/4 inch. All probably from Amazon. Years ago when I used it you gathered up paper clips, rubber bands, etc., to make patterns. @@laurabarber6697 its usually in the kids department at Michaels or Joanns. They carry sheets, cut out letters and shapes in this too. I bought the thickest.
@@sharinsherri2558 thank you for the answer! I thought it might have been that little foam sheet that comes in different colors. I don't have kids so I'm always kind of lost in those departments. And thanks for letting me know that the sticker sheets would work well for this. I was reading some other comments and someone had mentioned that the foam knee guards you can get it Dollar Tree also and in the same way. I haven't tried it yet. But now would be the time Dollar Tree would have the spring type items out and for a dollar it would be a worthwhile Adventure :-) thank you!
I had one about 15-16 years ago. That and alcohol inks were popular. Now alcohol inks are a thing again and now stamping foam is back. I did get a set of Simon's. Had fun playing with them so far.
Hi Tiffany. Thanks for the heads up on this product. Not coming from a cardmaking background, I had never heard of this either. However, I have tried something similar called Oyumaru which is a reusable moldable material that you soak in hot water. I don't think it would be suitable for stamping and you can trap water in it which mars your image. I was using it as a texture stamp for polymer clay. I will be looking into this foam as it could be used as both a regular stamp as well as a texture stamp.
WOW,! THIS IS AWESOME!!! I got some kind of foam like this years ago and I’m not sure if it works the same way but I’m sure gonna try!! Thank you so much for sharing this! I’m so excited!!! In fact, I ordered “doily” place mats to use as stencils for coffee dyeing and found out they have a clear backing that covers the holes!! Well, with this foam I’ll make a stamp out of it! You rock Tiff!! ❤️🦋💜
I follow Simon, too, but I don’t watch every video on YT! I suppose since I’m pretty much naive when it comes to using some forms of mixed media that this is new to me! This opens so many options for card-making and other paper craft projects! I know what’s next on my shopping list! Thanks for sharing, Tiffany! I’ve never seen your channel, but it popped up on my home page! Guess I’ll be checking to see what else I may learn! ☺️
I try to not watch every single video. The more I watch the more I want! LOL! So glad you are here. I hope you find more content on my channel to enjoy! Thanks so much!
This isn't really a "new" product Stampendous offered the same type of product years ago by Pen Score called moldable stamping blocks....actually the cheaper version is found in the kids section in the bath toys. They come in all kinds of shapes for kids to "stick" on the tub during bath time. Can't recall for certain but I think they were called "bath blocks", you could keep the image you impressed or you could reheat the block each time and impress a new image into it. They lasted for quite a few times. I still have some but I didn't keep the original packaging darn it. There's another product called "Magic Stamps" from Artistic Artifacts that's about $2 you can get, it's a blue color qnd I'm pretty sure it's the same as the original from Stampendous
@@Tiffany.Solorio no problem....guess I'm just showing my age😜 a lot of "new" products and techniques to you and the newer crafters I've seen 30+ years ago when I first got into stamping/scrapbooking
@@MsScrappygirl I thought exactly the same when I first saw what he/Ranger was bringing out. I seem to recall the original could be bought in petal shapes that fitted on a handle.
@@suekeates4076 actually you are correct about that, too! They came in the moldable form shapes and they offered the mats (4"x10") with multiple images and you could use them as a regular, stamp, too. The company (Clear Snap) also offered a foam type head as well (yes, I've got multiple heads, handles and mats yet in my stash)!
When i saw Simon's vid, i immediately ordered a set !! Saw them months ago in an old vid and was unable to locate them anywhere! Smart move to bring them back! Agree-Tons of fun and thanks for the vid!
I ordered mine after I had been eyeing for a while and am eager to get them! Simon shared some cool clips on instagram that shouted to me! I only ordered the foam and not the acrylic blocks because i have plenty so I was good and minded my pockets! Your ideas are so cool!
OMG! Tiffany! This is amazing. The possibilities are endless. I hope I will find it soon for Europe. It's out of stock in Scrapbook.com. Could we use any kind of inks with it?
Has been a technique around for decades. Any dense foam will do this - you can buy a piece of foam that will do the same job for 1/10th or less or what Ranger are laughingly selling this for.
@@Tiffany.Solorio Same amount is about $0.85 if you just buy craft foam. They always design pack sizes bigger than people need too. Same with companies that sell acrylic stamping blocks in packs of 3 identical ones - such a waste of materials.
Yes the impression will stay there until you heat it back up. I am going to try it with my gel press. I think there is so many fun things that can be done. Thanks for watching!
Check the foam doesn't emit toxic fumes when heated...e.g. extruded polyurethane foam does (found this out years ago in RC model aircraft cutting foam with a hotwire) the manufacturer should have this info etc...Rgds Laurie
Oh, so funny !! At least 10 years ago, (lots of you tubes still kicking around too)this was “newly released” ( well, re-released) as Magic Foam.. and back then everyone was trying to remember it’s name from its previous iteration...back a decade or so prior to that. Seems shapes & colours change every decade or so !!
@@laurabarber6697 Ranger is the company that makes the foam for the Simon Hurley brand. If you look in this video’s supply list, Tiffany has the link to Ranger’s store, plus other stores that carry it. Hope that helps.
While it seems many people are noting these are an old product, how many of you have gotten them out again to play with :) I know that's going to be my next step! And for those of you that dont have them...OMG theyre fun...even if you dont stamp with them...theyre just marvelously tactile and joyous to play with.

@@Tiffany.Solorio I just watched Simon do a video on organizing our craft spaces. Left him a message begging him to re-stock those little suckers!👍🏼😂Your video, that I watched at 2AM when I couldn’t sleep, has me HOOKED on the possibilities of what I can do with those blocks! And I’ll need more ink, and perhaps a trip to IKEA for just the right storage container...🤣🤣🤣

I looked on Amazon for “sponge foam.” As far as I can see nothing that appears on the search looks to be the right kind of product. What should I be looking for? Specifically, what is the name of the sponge foam product you used in this video? TIA to anyone who can provide an answer for me. ♥️
Hmm, this isn't a new craft product. It's been around for about....20 years...specifically for stamping. In fact, I think ColorBox used to make it on handles in small shapes that you could hold up to a light bulb to reheat. They were small enough that you could make a repeat image out of them. I still have several.

I know everyone says this is not a new product but until you reviewed it, I've never seen or heard of it either. Guess we both have been under a rock for the last 20 years lol! But I do appreciate you sharing it. It looks like a really cool and versatile product. Thank you for always bringing cool stuff our way!
I guess so! LOL! Glad I am not alone! hahaaha! Thanks so much for watching!
@@Tiffany.Solorio Yeah I thought it was new too then read some of the comments and everyone was saying it was not new, I was like how come I've never seen it before? lol So I feel ya! You are totally not alone! Of course you are very welcome dear! I enjoy your videos! Always so positive and full of fun, new and exciting ideas and projects!
Oh wow.... Thanks for showing Tiffany.
I didn't watch the video from Simon yet, so I had no clue.
This is pretty awesome!!!!
Thanks so much for watching!
My mind is blown!!! What a cool product.
Thanks for watching!
That's awesome! Found some 8.5 x 11 sheets of this foam in a Goodwill grab bag. Had no idea what to do with it. Thanks.
That is awesome. Yes I have heard it works just the same. Thanks so much for watching. I really appreciate it! ❤️
I had this a few years ago. It is definitely a creative way to use your stash and have fun!
I had a lot of fun using my stencils and dies. Thanks Teri!
I had the blue one years and years ago. Not new but you did cool things with it.
I know now it is not new. Thanks so much for watching. I can't wait to try more things with it!
You can do this with thick fun foam. Did it years ago.
Thanks for watching!
What is Fun foam? Can you tell me what store I would find it in such as Michaels or Jo-Ann's? Thank you
@@laurabarber6697 its usually in the kids department at Michaels or Joanns.
It is a lot of fun! Thanks for watching!
One of my old (very lightweight) mouse pads has that type of foam as the backing. Tried this idea with it and it works!
OMG that is awesome! Great idea to repurpose! Thanks for watching!
You are so welcome!
Oh a doily pattern would be so cool! Thank you Cindy!
I'm DEFINITELY getting some! 😍 I like the random string and the lace design. Thank u for sharing with us that have no idea about the product. 💐
Thanks for watching!
AMAZING!! Can't wait to try this technique. Thank You
Wow - Tiffany this is awesome. Thank you for sharing this with us.
You are so welcome!
What an amazing video Tiffany 😍❣️ totally loved watching it❤️
Thank you so much!! How are you Kanika?
Thank you! This product is new to me. I didn't realize there had been a product out like this already. Thanks for watching!
@@Tiffany.Solorio no problem....guess I'm just showing my age😜 a lot of "new" products and techniques to you and the newer crafters I've seen 30+ years ago when I first got into stamping/scrapbooking
@@MsScrappygirl me too !! It's nice that some of the products are coming back so we might pick up any new techniques.😉
I've never heard of this until now and I Thank You so much for sharing this because I am definitely going to try this out!👍
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
This is so fun and you did a great job explaining it! Your videos are great!
Thank you so much!
Would loved to have seen the cards you made with the designs. Now I need to wait till it comes back in stock to purchase 😢
wow this is a brilliant product!!!
Sounds very intesting, definitely worth a try.
Thanks so much!
So you can re-use the foam multiple times? That's awesome!!
Yes! I am unsure how many uses you can get out of it but I have used it at least a couple dozen times so far. Thanks for watching!
Wow, it looks like a really versatile tool and I love the effects that you got it! 😍
Thanks so much! 😊
When i saw Simon's vid, i immediately ordered a set !! Saw them months ago in an old vid and was unable to locate them anywhere! Smart move to bring them back! Agree-Tons of fun and thanks for the vid!
Nice. It is a new product to me. I am glad it is making a come back. Such a fun versatile product. Thanks so much for watching!
no way!!!! Coolest product ever!! Thanks for the heads up Tiff. XOX
You are so welcome!
Wow! So cool. I’ve never seen this before, will have to get it and play. TFS
Hey! How are you? It is so fun to play with! Thanks for watching!
This is a really cool product😍what a great video Tiffany, love the tease bits in the beginning😁💕
Hey Gerry! Thank you!! I didn't have them in the beginning at first but Keren suggested to add them. I think she was right. LOL!
@@Tiffany.Solorio that’s what friends are for😁
well, they must be very popular, as they are SOLD OUT at the 3 links you provided .... but ty for info, i will purchase when available, looks like fun
I ordered mine after I had been eyeing for a while and am eager to get them! Simon shared some cool clips on instagram that shouted to me! I only ordered the foam and not the acrylic blocks because i have plenty so I was good and minded my pockets! Your ideas are so cool!
Yes his videos on Instagram are so cool. I only got the foam as well. I have so many stamp blocks lol. Thanks so much for watching!
Wow, so cool! This is awesome! Thanks for sharing Tiffany!
Thanks for watching!
What are some of the objects/textures you guys have used? The silver chain necklace turned out my fav. Also love using lace, in everything.
Sounds like you are having fun with it!
OMG!
Thanks for the tip. I personally don't think $5 for 4 pieces is too much. Considering I will never use all 4 pieces in my lifetime.
@@Tiffany.Solorio Same amount is about $0.85 if you just buy craft foam. They always design pack sizes bigger than people need too. Same with companies that sell acrylic stamping blocks in packs of 3 identical ones - such a waste of materials.
Oooohhh wwoowww! It's so funny! It's like a gell press. But the gell press can stay marked forever....and this one is always right, doesn't it?
Yes the impression will stay there until you heat it back up. I am going to try it with my gel press. I think there is so many fun things that can be done. Thanks for watching!
@@Tiffany.Solorio thank u always you
Ok, now I want to glue a bunch of craft foam together and see if it does the same thing since it seems to be sold out everywhere!
If you try it, let me know if it works! Thanks for watching!
Alene’s Creative Living did this decades ago. It’s so cool!
Check the foam doesn't emit toxic fumes when heated...e.g. extruded polyurethane foam does (found this out years ago in RC model aircraft cutting foam with a hotwire) the manufacturer should have this info etc...Rgds Laurie
Love that option! I may have to get that!
That is so good, what great product. I must get this. TFS 🤩😍😊
Thanks so much for watching!
I know now it is not new. LOL! Thanks for watching.
Wow...just bought a few packs from Ranger. I can’t wait to play with these. TFS!
Awesome! You will have so much fun! Thank you so much for watching!
What is Ranger? Or how can I buy some too? Thank you!
@@laurabarber6697 Ranger is the company that makes the foam for the Simon Hurley brand. If you look in this video’s supply list, Tiffany has the link to Ranger’s store, plus other stores that carry it. Hope that helps.
@@keirawelling yes that does help! Thank you so much!
While it seems many people are noting these are an old product, how many of you have gotten them out again to play with :) I know that's going to be my next step! And for those of you that dont have them...OMG theyre fun...even if you dont stamp with them...theyre just marvelously tactile and joyous to play with.
Thanks Jan! I appreciate it. I don't mind the comments. I didn't realize it was an old reinvented product. I have several comments saying they were pulling theirs out that is decades old. Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
REALLY WANT THIS!! But, the Simon Hurley ones are sold out. I’ve checked: Amazon, Michael’s, HobbyLobby, Stampin’Up, Close to My Heart, JoAnne’s, Creative Memories.. NOTHING😩HELP!?!
Do you think her video inspired (and re-inspired) everyone to buy some and therefore everyone sold out?! Oh my... now I guess I will have to wait too I wanted to purchase as well!
It is sold out everywhere. Ranger should have some soon. I will post on my channel community tab when I hear something! Thanks for your patience.
I wonder would this work with nail stamping plates🤔❤️❤️ TFS
ooohhh.... Maybe?
I have that trouble as well as wanting everything I see but then I don’t use half of the stuff 😂 . Is this like a magic eraser brush I wonder if that would work the same if it is.
So guilty of that. Especially stamps! I buy so many stamps sets and don't use them. I think part of it is fear of missing out. Trying to do better this year. I know my husband will be happy! LOL! Thanks for watching!
This Is Amazing! Cant Wait till I can get some Looks Like so Much Fun :) I always Miss your Premieres, Darn Life lol.. TY FOr sharing this with us 😍
Thanks Linda. This one I premiered right away. I am going to try and premiere Mondays at 9 am pacific time each week when I do have a video.
This product looks pretty cool! I am going to try really hard to not purchase any new stamps, stencils, paper, moulds, etc. this year. I have soooo many beautiful products and such that I want to use. I only want to purchase items that will enhance what I already have. This might go on that list. 🤨💖
Thanks so much Stephanie. I hope you are doing well. Miss you! I am not going to buy as much.
I bought some awhile back, it's so fun to use!
Awesome! What types of things have you used to make impressions? Thanks for watching!
@@Tiffany.Solorio some of the same things, shelf liners, decorative clips, key rings in different sizes together, and thick string. It's fun to find different things to try out.
Do they talk about or say anything about the possibly toxicity of continued heating of the foam? Is it non-toxic?
Hi Terry. Great question! I will email them and ask. The material didn't have any smell to me. I always like to mention if products have smells. I will get back to you as soon as I know something!
Why not use the back and front for two impressions
Great idea. I did that. I didn't mention it in the video though. You can even use the sides. Super cool! Thanks so much for watching!
*****update for those that are interested....you can get cheaper version on Amazon 28 bath toy blocks for about $20 OR you can get a single block for $2 at Artistic Artifacts. If you Google moldable foam blocks other options come up as well
Thanks for suggesting other options for people. The Ranger blocks are 4 for $5. I don't think that is too expensive. Considering you can use it over and over.
@@Tiffany.Solorio yes, but they were out of stock when I checked before posting other sources...just wanted to give options and they are re-usable in same manner as well
Never seen this before. Thanks so much. I definitely need it lol.
Thanks so much for watching!
Looks like a pretty cool product
Thanks for watching!
I love the things you made with the sponge foam! I will have to find some of it as I have some dies but no cutting machine. ♥️
OK I have a question! I looked on Amazon for “sponge foam.” As far as I can see nothing that appears on the search looks to be the right kind of product. What should I be looking for? Specifically, what is the name of the sponge foam product you used in this video? TIA to anyone who can provide an answer for me. ♥️
The dies will be great for this foam. Maybe stamp foam? Thanks for watching!
Can't find them anywhere even the blue ones all sold out. 😔
OMG, I LOVE this idea!
Thanks so much! I appreciate it!
Holy moly! This is so cool!
Thank you so much for watching!
Hmm, this isn't a new craft product. It's been around for about....20 years...specifically for stamping. In fact, I think ColorBox used to make it on handles in small shapes that you could hold up to a light bulb to reheat. They were small enough that you could make a repeat image out of them. I still have several.
Thanks for watching. I know that now that it is not new.
Thanks for watching. I know that now that it is not new.
So cool! Never seen this before
Thanks for watching!
You uploaded a craftroom tour today, and the video is Private, so we can’t see it. Was that on purpose? (I know I’ve accidentally uploaded mine with the wrong privacy settings before, so I was just checking!)
Hey Kati. I had planned to premiere it about a hour ago. It was up for about a week but I woke up this morning with an idea to make it better. It should be up in a few days! Thanks for checking! I appreciate it!
I can't find this product in Europe, can anyone recommend a different brand, or a DIY alternative?? Thank you :o) (Can I use EVA foam sheets?)
Yes you can use eva foam sheets. Or kids Eva foam bath blocks :) anything Eva will work, thicker will get you a deeper impression though
People have said that garden knee pads work...... or the pads you put down in a playroom. I haven't tried it out. but it may be worth a try!
This product has been around for years.
My first seeing this in 55 y 👀
