Kim Jong Il said he would make flowers bloom on a rock if that is the wish of people
From the documentary: "Always Working Together for the People" 1994
First song is "The party is our bosom" (당의 품은 우리 사는 집)
Second song is "Thinking of Mother" (어머니 생각)
This is the original video, the video called "North Korea - How Kim Il Sung Made Korea Into A Paradise" is a copy of this one.
Motherland Is the Cradle of My Life
Candidate Academician, Professor and Doctor Kim Won Il, teacher of Kim Chaek University of Technology, says:
"It is 70 years after the Korean people raised cheers of hurrah with the joy of national liberation.
After the country was occupied by the Japanese imperialists, the Korean people had to live as slaves for tens of years. But when Korea was liberated on August 15, Juche 34 or 1945, they felt joy of national liberation and were greatly excited.
Still vivid before my eyes is the scene that my father and mother were so glad to greet the day of liberation that they shed tears and raised cheers of hurrah with smile on their faces. Why not!
I was born in Chongjin City, North Hamgyong Province. Before liberation the Korean people had to live as colonial slaves. At that time my parents were eking out a scanty livelihood while doing a hard labour at a railway construction site. Our house was a tiny straw-thatched cottage built with straw bags piled up.
At the construction site my father shouldered pole to carry rails and my mother gathered bottomings. They toiled and moiled all day long but our family often skipped meals as it was difficult to prepare even thin porridge for a meal. I could not see a smile on their faces but only their worried looks.
Though there were the sky and the land, the Korean people were deprived of the home and right of their life. Their life was literally inferior to animals. Our family had to live in gloom with bitter tears and sorrow.
But the spring light of liberation came to our family as well. Saying he was not tired no matter how hard he might work, my father always told us to study hard and do our duty as masters of new Korea.
With the pleasure and pride of being the masters of the country and factories, my parents devoted their all to the building of new Korea. National liberation cleared me of hunger and provided me with the right of learning. I learned to my heart´s content without any worry and studied at today´s Kim Chaek University of Technology as I hoped.
After graduating from the university, I taught students and could become Candidate Academician, Professor and Doctor. It is impossible to think of my growth like today as a child of railway workers before liberation.
The national liberation provided the right to life, the genuine human right to all people on this land as well as my family and me. So I always say to my children that today´s happiness is possible because the great leader Kim Il Sung liberated the country and built a genuine people´s government whose masters are people. Indeed, the motherland is the home and genuine cradle of my life."

The main reason why North Korea faces severe economic difficulties was basically adopted by most socialist countries. It is due to the inherent inefficiency of the 'planned economy' that experienced failure. In addition, the closed 'self-rehabilitation principle' adopted in the middle and small ideological disputes, the 'pre-military policy' that puts manpower and resources first into the military sector, and the lack of 'social infrastructure' that is helpless against natural disasters such as drought and flooding.

During 60s and 70s, North Korea did have high living standard, but as 80s went on and USSR started crumbling, so did North Korea. Kim Il-Sung, just like Mao Zedong, truly believed that Juche philosophy and political system he created were perfect and best for his people. Now the question is what did his political advisors and people around him were telling him that was going on. They were probably as usual making him think it was paradise and everything was perfect, which it wasn't.
+Sandy Mom It was and it is
Sandy Mom agreed
This shows is that Juche and Communism can’t morph to fit the changing state the world. That’s primarily why it failed.
I believe that if Kim Il-Sung had a better heir that was more like him one that actually cared about his people, instead of Kim Jong Il who had his "Military first" policy which starved his people, North Korea would most likely be a better country.
True that. Kim Il Sung thought of building his nation first, but when the USSR collapsed they lost all financial backing, then he died and Kim Jong Il took power, then there was a series of floods, droughts, storms, and one of the most terrible famines of the 20th century.

Notice how no one is allowed to film Il-sung’s face from the right side, it’s cause he had a tumor. Those cameramen must’ve had a top secret security clearance just for knowing that the tumor even existed
It was some weird growth which couldn't be removed or he didn't want to risk it, the people must have realised that something was amiss by the fact he was hardly seen on his right hand side but in 🇰🇵 it was one of those things and not done to ask what one wasn't told
@@charlesburgoyne-probyn6044The funny thing is that media from other Communist states at that time (Poland and Romania being two notable examples, as well as East Germany) ignored this rule and filmed from whatever angle was there. You could see it in one video from Poland, where General Jaruzelski greeted Kim on a state visit in 1988 I think.
As much as I detest the rule of Kim jong un. But damn Kim il sung seem like a cool dude honestly
I agree I don't think north korea was a country people feared back then like today
Kim Il sung while still a dictator was definitely the best. Sung was a guerrilla fighter and leader against the Japanese Empire during WWII and he was a man who knew a thing or two about struggle, bloodshed and sacrifice. Under his rule there was a time where the North was economically ahead of the South particularly through the 1970s and 1980s. The 1990s is when everything bad that we now associate with the DPRK started. Kim jong il was a spoiled brat who knew nothing about fighting or struggle and it’s through him is how the famine, the isolation and the utter deterioration really skyrocketed.
@@alexandertheresurrection2810 Propaganda regarding North Korea was still prominent before the 90s. If you read Kim Il Sung’s speeches, he mentions how Rhee Syngman would talk of North Korea as if it’s a destitute land. A lot of older South Koreans grew up on believing North Korean falsehoods as evident truth. The famine was exacerbated largely because of economic sanctions that were out of Kim Jong Il’s power. Kim Jong Il attempted to open their economy and join the World Bank/IMF and were promptly rejected. You could argue that Kim Jong Il’s nuclear policy could’ve been handled better I suppose? But the US has reared its warheads at North Korea for quite some time and has actively failed to meet their ends of various treaties/agreements which led to KJI’s absolute distrust of the US which was reflective of his foreign policies.

No, no, no. Kim Il-Sung would have been the best hope for both Koreas. He was the most diplomatic of the three.
