Wonderful video on a absolutely stunning piece of art. My only criticism is that I wished the analysis was longer! Also I sometimes have a difficult time concentrating what you say when the music is so beautiful.
Just listening to this piece for the first time here, it makes me think of the lightrail transit in my city. Almost like what the driver would hear traveling their route and the people getting on and off the train.

Thank you! I'm currently planning on analysing the Rite of Spring (with links to art/cubism), possible Peter Grimes, but definitely John Adams' opera Doctor Atomic (also maybe Ligeti's second string quartet, or his Clocks and Clouds, or anything by Ligeti!).
Amazing channel. Have you heard of Alfred Karindi? He was an Estonian composer of pre-mid-post ww2 period. Majority of his music are pieces for organ, as the church organ and singing was a huge movement in Estonia back then. His organ sonata #3 F-moll have been fascinating me from childhood period, in fact some of Collier's "Moon River" harmonic transitions are similar to what's happening in the first part of that sonata. Would love to hear your analysis on it someday, as even while hearing and trying to play it, i'm sure I've missed a lot.

I love the idea of limitation being necessary to the open field of creation.
I know - it's a fascinating concept, and it crops up in all forms of art (literature, music, visual art etc...).

Very nice essay, but not mentioning Christian Bök's "Eunioa" feels like a slight against him. But maybe he's a jerk and deserves it, I dunno.
