Well done, Scott. Fun to watch the project unfold and your documentary skills are first-rate. From this day forward, WD-40 will be known to me as "ooby-dooby." . (Great music BTW)
Thanks for the kind words Chuck. It’s been a learning curve, but hopefully I keep improving. Need to sort out a some shaky camera shots and control that auto focus. 😉
2nd vote for Kermit. By the way Scott those nuts holding the exhaust header tube to the barrel don’t look to be brass. Plus if they are, couldn’t really see them, they should be replaced or they’ll be coming loose soon. Great vid as usual. Cheers from Finland.
Thanks Paul. Yeah, they're not brass. And, I forgot to order new ones, which I would normally do, because they always get a bit chewed up, then are difficult to take off the next time. But ran out of time, and they've stayed on so far, so went with them for now. Cheers!
Great work Scott!!!! Incredible condition overall & inside was the air box was virtually mint & no rust!!! Really enjoyed that anyway!! Excellent
Brilliant as ever.
Keep goin, Scott.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Will do! 🤘thanks.
GREAT cleaning up job!👍🤝
Excellent low budget overhaul Scott , I had a sx200 way back in the 60s, one thing I remember when looking at the exhaust system on yours was that the rear tail pipe bolt was always coming loose, probably due to aftermarket "flatbox" silencer with long chrome tailpipe, simple fix change bolt for a stud spring washer and nut, problem solved!
Very nice patina, it’s good to see someone restore those vehicles to their original looks. Brings back lots of memories
Scott, you done a great job for the money & looks a hundred times better. Good to see you back mate 👏👏👍👍
Found this video when looking at Lambretta scooters. It was fun watching how nicely the bike came up by just cleaning it.
Scott great video mate.just got my first lambretta 1965 this video will really help me out.thank you 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That's fantastic, really glad if the videos help in any way. Cheers!
Love that colour. Great work that did the difference. Cheers
My 1962 LI 150 was grey inside. If you fit front crash bars on the front, you can sit more comfortable. Your heels stay on the scooter floor at the very front, with the rest of your foot resting on the crash bars. Your legs sit wider and your body becomes part of the scooter. Which makes it more stable to ride. From an old 1960’s Mod.
Super fun to watch--I love how everything you did felt like something anyone with some basic tools and time could achieve. I'm in the process of buying a restored 1960 Lambretta, but this is a great piece of reference for any minor clean-up and for generally maintaining it. Well done!
Scott's back! Lovely stuff, looks great, nice and sympathetic job
Cheers Guy!
Great job Scott, another Lambretta back up and running 😊
Nice to see you back love the videos 👍
Thanks Steve!
Great video, but the music is fantastic, love it and consider it a find ! 😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks Derek. 🎶
Great looking scooter, and awesome music.
Thanks Hugo!
Very good mate I love standard lambys
SLIMER...(Ghostbusters)..
Top job mate, looks awesome..
Looking good 👍. Cheers
Thanks Mark!
Love it... nice clean, worker... well done!! Explained perfect...cheers😊
Cheers Kirk!
Really enjoyed watching this. How about calling her, 'Eva' as in Eva Green, the actress
I remember gunk engine cleaner from the 60s also STP oil additive & moon rims just three that come to mind same time the Beatles landed at LaGuardia airport & played for the first time on Ed Sullivan good old days 🐝🤪👍🏻⚡️ 🇬🇧🤓🇺🇸 hello from across the pond Long Island one of these days I'm gonna get on a plane fly to England see Trafalgar Square and all the other places I've thought about seeing in England ✨👋🏻😎 good job on the lambretta
Nice cheap overhaul Scott, the scoot looked 👍🏻
Inside looks original.
Thanks! I thought so too. 🙏
hi Scott, Id of put new fork link bolts in. The ones you have are in the wrong way round and have nyloc nuts fitted which are useless unless the bolt passes through the nylon.
Italian style and European UK engineering should be encouraged.
Good job.
The Black lipstick suits you , welcome back and thanks for the decent tunes
🤣💋 Thanks Ian.
Got that lammy looking great
Lovely scooter,call it ivy !!
Could call it Green Onions - cos it's a mod classic like the tune…
Happy new year Scott. Lovely patina on your Special mate 👍
Happy New Year! And thanks. 😊
Not sure if you can get Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish on your side of the pond for the tailpiece, horncast cast and handle bar bits, but it's great stuff. I think the 125/150 Specials from that era were either Silver or Gold from the factory with white internals (tank, airbox, cowl, etc.) Maybe just overspray from the green paint? Nice video. Cheers!
Yes, I've checked it out, and you can buy "Mothers Mag & Aluminium Polish" here! Will get some on order to try! Ah, ok so internals could be off white! Robert commented the internals could be 'duck egg blue'. I'll check them both out. I guess the colour doesn't come across so well from the camera, then on RUclips etc. Many thanks for the comment and all the best!
Aprateeeeeeeeeeemmmm work..very good,sir namskar..
Hermosa Lambretta.
Try try using cooking foil for cleaning your brightwork
Thanks for the tip!
Envy !
I found swarfega and scotchbrite is good for degreasing and buffing up aluminium. Cleans off with water too
Ah, cool! Yeah, need to get some Swarfega anyway, so will give that a try. Cheers.
The patina shit sauce is the lazy boys approach, it does nothing but gather dust and damages the old paint finish. You should use a good quality fine compound, and finish with something like Meguiars + carnauba. It'll take a few hours, but the result is superb, and it can be maintained with a detailer, exposed metal and corrosion hand lacquered by brush then waxed. As for the Tyre Wax, It's a sure way to slide off in the wet or a slick road surface. Who in their mind gets wax near scooter tyres.
Hei Scott so satisfied with Your work on this Lambretta SX125 And great to know that You keep in on the original patina condition, just wondering how to make the "Patina Sauce" can't understand pretty well.. it's just some kind of mixture the WD & White spirit? Or just the boiled linseed Oil.. got some patina Vespa here in Indonesia "so hot and tropic here the rust spread so fast here" Thank's for answer Scott.. respect!!
Great vid.....call it Kermit 😊
I like that! 😊 Cheers
'Patina sauce' ? A generic term, or the 'Sweet Patina' product? I'm considering using Owatrol Oil on my TV175.
Great videos - and one more vote for Kermit ;-)
There are several companies that make a 'patina sauce', but after a bit of research, some of these sauces at least, are based on Boiled Linseed Oil with other stuff added (white spirit and penetrating oil type stuff). Some old-school hotrod guys apply pure Boiled Linseed Oil to old paint jobs (which is what I did on Oddbod), but it is a little greasy applied pure..
@@CobwebGarage Can you share the mix proportions you used for the Patina Sauce?
I will change the oil in it, take the carburettor to bits clean it out The tins on it was painted off white or light grey
700 mm of oil in a wet engine, 800mm in a new, dry rebuild.
Saves messing with the level plug on the chain cover.😊
I bought a new Vespa GS 160 in 1965, aged 16, and then traded that in for a Lambretta SX200 in 1966. At that time I believe all imported scooters were white and it was dealers that painted them, or chromed them, to the purchasers requirements.
Interesting! Cheers.
glad you didn't paint it I like the green🤩
Mick Jones is in a band called Carbon/Silicone.
Like the patina sauce blend, would you advise adding decals prior to rust preserve or afterwards.
Hi Andy. After, I would suggest. The rust treatment should stabilise the surface.
Great video Scott, She came up a treat! Can I ask where you got your shirt from? Looks class. Cheers, Michael.
Thanks!
It’s a work shirt, and i sewed the patches on. 🤗🤘
Hubbies 125 Special was called "Start you bugger!"
"Meanie Greenie"
Kermit is a good suggestion, but how about Ferdy (sounds like 'Verde', which is Italian for Green), if you don't mind the Quadrophenia connection.
"Looking for Ferdy?" 😍 Bel suggerimento. Cheers!
The internals look like duck egg blue to me, a mate used to have a li150 that colour.
Great, I’ll look into that! Cheers
Scooter looks great
Prototype sure it’s the lighter (Boeing) green
She's a Green Goddess
💚
Named: Lambretta "Mantis"!!
Did you make the work bench yourself
got to be Kermit
Yes indeed!
Love the vids mate. That colour reminds me of Gilbert the Alien, so why not call it Gilbert?
Thanks for the comment Calum. Gilbert is a great suggestion. I like Gilbert The Alien's green and red combo. :-)
The internals look like an LI colour rear frame badge is LI not a special. Could be an Li with Special panel work. Green Godess would be a good name as its similar colour to the army fire engines that are called Green Goddesses.
My 63 Tv200 was all crème coloured inside…
Oh, interesting! Cheers Phil.
Innocenti rust is acceptable , lol scooter name.. the green goblin ?
Hi Scott, yet again a fab video. What’s the ratio of your patina mix and does it leave a greasy film (will it stay greasy and get on your clothes) cracking scooter. Mike BLC
Mainly the Boiled Linseed oil, I just added a dash of white spirit and WD40. It is greasy for a few days, but I found on Oddbod it dried out nicely (I used pure Boiled Linseed Oil on Oddbod). Also, you can spend time really wiping it off well (I left a bit of a film on). Patina sauces really work well on vehicles that have a lot of surface rust and really faded (porous) paint (worse than this scoot). I've seen a lot of hotrod car guys putting on old cars etc. Stops any rust getting worse, and brings faded paint back to life.
Name in Italian is - Lambretta Verde
Call her Betsy 🙂🙂🛵💨💨
Dopo usa il borotalco e strofinalo elio pavia
Ummmh, trabajos a medias NO!!, la limpieza se hace bien o no se hace!! pulir metales requiere paciencia pero el resultado lo vale!!
Call it Cruella after your black lippy 😉
😂
Bogey 😊
🤣🤧
Get a stand for the camera!
Lovely canny scoot m8!
Green goddess as she's beautiful
