  • Review is of the 21” which is labeled “International.” Everything seems to be the same as the 22” which is labeled “Domestic,” other than 1” height difference.
    22” x 14” x 9” 7.4 lbs

What made you opt for the ZDX versus the Baseline spinner? This review was so helpful as I think it might be the only video review of the ZDX so far. I generally like the aesthetics and the lighter weight of the ZDX but want to make sure I'm informed before I make the splurge on a carry-on piece.

Hi, Thanks for your comment and question. The primary deciding factor was the more minimalist design of the ZDX. The weight and 2 front pockets helped a lot. Over the past 2 years I’ve travelled a lot. Having a clear separation of 2 front pockets for easy access to removing a computer for X-ray and a top zipper for a passport or any other travel docs. You might already know that a lot of European airlines have significantly smaller overhead luggage compartments. The smaller 21” can make a difference between having to pay for a checked bag. Who wants to pay for a checked bag if your flying within Europe for $100 round trip. The easy access expansion zipper makes the 1” loss unnoticeable. The lighter weight was an additional plus. Overall, I’ve never regretted the purchase. Space, weight, and functional design mattered a lot to me; a carryon gets a lot of hands on use. This was one of my first Briggs purchases and the warranty was the biggest attraction. Sorry for the long reply, but I hope it helps in your decision. Super helpful! Thank you. I’m planning on moving to Europe next year, so the overhead bin consideration has also been top of mind. I’m going to stop the research and make the purchase.

@@garrettrapsilber7735 I don’t think you can go wrong with the bag. I have a trunk baseline for longer trips and it’s a great bag. Although the baseline expansion system works, I prefer the zippered expansion, much less cumbersome. Enjoy Europe.

How much was it on sale for Black Friday? Looking to buy one of these for my Europe trip

Hi, Thanks for watching and sorry for the delayed reply. I was hoping to find the receipt, but it was about 2 years ago that I made the initial purchase. I buy a lot of stuff and at times don’t open for a year or more 😔. Nevertheless, BR normally has a very good Black Friday sale. Hopefully, they include the item you’re contemplating. I’ll start to include the purchase price in my unboxing videos. 😁

do you think the 22" would fit in the overhead in these European flights ?? Figured i'd ask since youve been using the bag very recently... Do you remember seeing more room in the overhead before you shut the lid ?? An inch doesnt sound like much, but im a big guy, my clothes are going to take up more room so that inch makes a difference..

It really depends on the carrier and the plane. I’ve taken a number of discount flights in Europe and you could barely fit a shoulder bag in the overhead compartment. Oftentimes, the flight is so cheap that they plan on charging you for the bag or allowing you to check it for free. IMHO on a US flight to Europe a 22” will fit. Within continental Europe, my experience has been the answer is no. European carryon bags as you may know are ridiculously small by American standards. You’re right, an inch can make a huge difference. After over 20 flights last year, my solution was to find clothes I could comfortably wear for 3 days. I also invested in a tiny European carryon. I haven’t done a review yet, but it’s tiny. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Definitely consider subscribing if you haven’t already

Hi, Can the front pocket handle a hoodie? I always carry a hoodie and take it off and on during transit, and it would be much easier to place in luggage vs my backpack. TIA

Hi, Sorry for the late reply. I just folded my go too hoodie/jacket (Public Rec) and placed it in the front pocket. No problem, the zippers give you the entire top and sides for clearance. If the bag is really full, depending on the hoodie you might get a bulge. If it’s not full, it shouldn’t even be noticeable in the pocket. So far it’s been a great bag. Hope this helps. If you haven’t subscribed already definitely consider it. Thanks again for the question.

What is the empty weight of the bag? Many of the European airlines have carry- on weight limits besides size limits.

Hi, Sorry for the delayed reply and thanks for watching. According to the Briggs & Riley website the bag weighs in at 7.4 lbs / 3.4 kg. When I used my basic hand scale it was slightly heavier. Thanks again for commenting and def consider subscribing if you haven’t already.

How wiggly is the handle? One reason I didn't like TravelPro is how wiggly the handle is.

    • @radioflashinfo
      @radioflashinfo  Год назад +1

I’ve found the handle to have a solid feel. The telescoping arms are metal, which also gives it a solid feeling. I’m using the bag this weekend as a carryon for a UK trip. On one leg the airline checked the bag for free and as always it held up well. It fit in all of the European airlines overhead compartments without any difficulty. I don’t think this would be the case if I used the expansion zipper. That said, having the zipper definitely makes up for any loss between the 21” and 22”. More information than you asked for, but at the bags price point and warranty, I’d recommend and give it as a graduation gift to to someone I liked a lot. Thanks for watching and definitely consider subscribing.

It’s very difficult to find high quality bags that don’t have to be replaced every few years. 1 broken wheel and and an inferior bag is useless. Briggs and Riley offers s lifetime warranty. They have locations where bags can be dropped off for repair. The service is s huge differentiator. Thanks for commenting and please consider subscribing.

Hi, This has become my go to carry-on. I’m going to use it this weekend (Portugal and Barcelona). The deciding factor in my purchase was the lifetime warranty and store drop-off for repairs. Although it’s an international carry-on size, it seems bigger than the bags I see Europeans using when we board. That said, it has never been a problem. I ordered the Zero Halliburton, Edge Lightweight International Carry-On about 15 minutes ago. I wanted a hard shelled bag that looked smaller. The ZDX is still my go to carry-on, because of the expandable versatility. One of the reasons I purchased the Zero is I think they will discontinue the color (Sun) that I ordered. I’ve found airlines oftentimes offer to check my bag for free, but everyone has a darker colored bag. The “sun”color will help me to easily identify the bag. I’ll def do a review. Sorry for the long reply and thanks for the message.

You should have done your research on the Briggs & Reily luggage. There was so much you did not know to show, such as the RFID compartment. Not a good presentation. Go to the company website and you will a lot.

@@radioflashinfoI think he’s referring to the front pocket with the red lining. It’s the short one that kind of puzzled you in the review. It’s an RFID pocket so you can place your wallet in there and it will protect from digital thieves. In any event nice review. Thanks for sharing.
