The chant is a old poem by Rudyard Kipling called "Boots" and is about the British soldiers experience in the Boors war (1899-1902). This version used is a recording read by by the actor Taylor Holmes in 1915. Fun fact, the US Navy Seals use this recording as a psychological endurance tool for new recruits where soldiers are forced to listen to it for days on loop.
Thank you just been down a Reddit rabbit hole reading about this I can’t imagine what effect that still has on those who went through the training, the voice is so affecting.
I think Danny Boyle is easily one of the most versatile director’s working. He doesn’t always hit, but he has a range that very few filmmakers manage to maintain. The fact that he’ll jump between making one of the best and most original zombie movies of the modern age and Slumdog Millionaire is mind blowing to me.
The audio was very good! I believe it’s an old army poem called “Boots”. I’ve always appreciated the first film, 28 Days Later for give us ‘zombies’ who move with speed and ferocity. No longer, lethargic and benign trudging forward. It’s something we’ve now seen in The Walking Dead and Last of Us. But “28” was the O-G! 👏🏾
The spoken litany is a poem called Boots by Rudyard Kipling concerning a soldier's perspective during the Second Boer War. It was recorded in 1915 and is used by the US Evade and Escape school with soldiers as audio conditioning since it's so harrowing.
Civil War was Alex Garland’s most successful film as a director by a LARGE margin. Not sure why you were under the impression that it was less successful. I’m talking box office performance here, it made 3x as much as Ex Machina(the better film) and over 10x as much as Men. Perhaps you mean less successful critically? To which I’d say that the critics loved it a lot more than they loved Men, and a little less than Ex Machina.
No I meant successful “for me” and “to me” - I felt it fell short in so many areas OTHER than Jesse Plemons moments which itself was a ln almost accidental appearance in the film
I think it is just the first of two more films as far as I understand it. There is 28 Years Later and 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple. although the part II won't be directed by Boyle and you could be right maybe there is a part III that I am unaware of. either way after seeing the trailer for this one Im looking forward to it a lot. Sunshine is my favorite Boyle movie, and looking back at it what a stacked cast.
Lots of tarot card images there! I wonder what this is going to leave us feeling. I can’t help but wonder what the underlying government message is in these films anymore. Thinking inside and outside the box from now on!

This is fascinating
Movie could easily hit a billion dollars if it’s actually as good as it looks
Must admit, this looks ace. Hope it doesn't disappoint
I'm pretty sure Civil War was Alex Garland's most successful film. It was a huge success for A24 as well.
Yes it was - but by far his most disappointing film for me
Danny Boyle is amazing
Would have loved to see a group family reaction Mark, One of the best trailers I’ve seen since Oppenheimer, another Cillian Murphy one !

4:03 You're welcome. Saved you all 4 minutes of yapping.
some people enjoy the yapping.
Many people come to these types of videos for the before and after commentary
@@HarrisaSports Yes, but do that AFTER the reaction. As people in general prefer that to not take place beforehand.
His takes are always insightful it's not yapping
Cheerio dude - I could t just watch someone else gawping at a trailer - prefer a bit of context and then a bit of backsplash
I liked civil war but it was felt really short and quick
